I have a remarkable tablet that I am trying to fix for my mother in law. It has not been tampered with in any way. I have tried insuring it is charged through multiple chargers. Stock apple chargers and Samsung fast chargers. I have connected to computer and no changes.

Charging your device for at least four hours, as this should completely fill the battery.

If the tablet isn't powered, I would expect the connection to time out as well.
