#is there toolchain for 3.11.3.3
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
You can find the latest official toolchains here: https://remarkable.guide/devel/toolchains.html#official-toolchain
If you'd like the latest one, you can request it from rM, please share the link if you do
As for using OpenSSH sshd on the device, it could be related to increased battery, drain. I woudln't know without knowing more about your setup.
sshd is the only added background service that i added
i also ssh into it a lot on WiFi
the battery drains in around 2 days
how do i do that?
i will do and make a toolchain using Zig
how do i ask rM?
There are instructions in the copyrights and compliance page on the device
Making a toolchain would be different than requesting the one they have
i need to request one first, then make a new one
i turned off Auto Sleep
maybe that's the reason?
i do need to ssh into it at will
You don't need to request one to create your own
Just use https://github.com/toltec-dev/toolchain as a starting point
i am on 3.11
Yes, that would do it
toltec says it only supports 3.8
That's not toltec, that the toltec toolchain
You can use that as a base for creating your own toolchain
must i use docker?
i need virtualization, right.
still
can qemu work?
let me try a Zig binary first
This creates a cross compile toolchain
It's x86_64
With the questions you are asking, I think you need to do some more reading up on how to cross compile things for a different device
it works!
zig build -Dtarget=arm-linux-gnueabihf does the right thing!
ok i got this
If you need to use external libc based libraries, you'll probably want to grab the last official toolchain and link against that
can't i just download from the device?
That is an option, but if you need headers or need debug symbols, you wont have them on device.
does rm11x have special headers?
It has specific headers for the versions of stuff it's on
So it's usually easiest to just grab it from the official source
official source - like linux?
No, the sdk
They don't use mainline linux, they have their own fork
Plus the sdk contains headers for all the libraries on the device
sdk meaning here? https://remarkable.guide/devel/toolchains.html#official-toolchain
When building applications, you’ll need a toolchain that allows you to cross compile for the device. There are several toolchains currently available. Contents: Official Toolchain- Installer, Docke...
how do I ask rM for the new toolchain? do i need the new toolchain if i only need to develop with libc?
i still don't know how to ask rM for the new sdk for 3.11

can't you just tell me
there are many many pages in there
Sure, go read the licenses and compliance page, and it has an email address for you in the text
Literally on the first page
