Furnace trouble [Unanimated Flame/Items not smelting]

I've come across some trouble. Furnaces around the area we are currently in don't smelt unless you tab into the furnace itself and watch them smelt. No matter of block closeness makes them actively smelt and the animation on them [the fire] never pops up.

• In the picture is a bundle of ACTIVELY smelting furnaces checked after about 5 minutes of smelting.
• If needed I can post the coordinates but I'd like to hold off for privacy, just let me know if it's needed though

More information:
I left myself AFK with one of these furnaces open and it + the surrounding furnaces successfully smelted a large chunk of cobble I put in.

I wouldn't expect it to be anything soon.. But hopefully would be worked on?

I believe this is intended, upper transition side of section is a proxy towards chunks in section above. Issue is that chunk on other side not in simulation distance, I believe. Doubt it can be fixed, even if they put that chunks into simulation it's just cause lots of unnecessary load just to keep furnaces ticking.

Yeah all inventories are accessed from the higher section to avoid dupe glitches
