Didnt listen yet but let me guess, it's buttrock with breakdowns that makes people who arent that deep into metal go "I dont know if you'd like it, my music is pretty brutal"

Got a soft spot for Trauma cuz it was a gateway album for me, though I probably wouldnt like it much anymore today. True Power was absolute doodoo, the lead single for this was pretty whatever.

Like, its short, feels lost and just doesnt really have that kind of umph and emotional impact trauma and true power held

And this album was basically a showcase of Erik's cleans because thats legit most of what he does on thia album except for 2/3 songs

Okay I'm on the final track; This album's just.. fine. It does the job, but it's frankly kinda boring. I don't know if I'm just looking at it pessimistically because I was unimpressed by the single rollout (and Rain is a song that exists), but like. Iunno

It's kinda unfortunate that they didn't actually commit to the Violent theming, because NWO and God were pretty enjoyable. I think Eric is at his best when he's doing his screams, which is why I loved Brian and Eric as a combo. With Brian gone, it's just kinda boring.

It's not like I have beef with Octanecore. I really liked We Came As Romans' new album. I can't exactly tell you what makes the difference though. Maybe I just like Dave's vocals a lot more (I actually do think he had a pretty great performance in that album), maybe it felt more creative, maybe it's because RAIN IS ASS, I don't know. Maybe I'm just still bitter about Brian in the end

Bottom line: I Prevail can do better.

This album was a massive letdown because you would think Eric would just do the violence and throw everyone off guard with a clean or two for a couple songs, but like....

This was just not I Prevail at its core...

Eric's cleans are fine

#

But they arent really emotional or rememberable and carry that same weight that Brian brought to the mix

#

What made I Prevail great was the quality between the vocal styles, with Eric having the more raspy and darker toned vocals....

And when you take out one layer and try to pick up the torch, it just falls flat

#

I think it would've been better just going the heavy I Prevail route and working with what is best rather than trying to force the core stuff because one member isnt present

Cause it just felt like this was just pushed out for the sake of it

Man, this band was my favourite band for years and honestly they might have stayed at that spot if they played to their strengths without brian and made more songs like NWO, violent nature and God

This had the potential to be a great album but the songs that dont fit with erics strength’s just kind of fall flat for me

they have some bangers here and there, but typically they just werent for me

when i heard the first single i legitimately became a fan and was excited to see what else was in store especially if they were going to go a more heavy route... but then they didnt lol

this album is so painfully fucking boring that it hurts

it is some of the most generic modern metal slop around hands down. there are some ideas here and there but over all this is just so fucking lame
