look what arrived today
🙏
just in time for the album
🥹 🥹 🥹
smash music
ITS OUT
ITS OUT ITS FUCKING OUT
ITS SO GOOD
OH MY FUCKING GOD ITS GOOD
@alpine scroll @tiny creek
violent nature is
INSANE
yea
finished the album
and honestly
holy fucking shit.
this is immaculate
fucking album of the decade
edge of infinity was such a nice emotional closer as well
insane run
Holy shit dude, its worth it
Its absolutely nuts
Ive never heard them do anything like this before
This album differs completely from shrine fracture era and the rest
Idek which song should i tab out and learn
Tho i doubt thatll be an issue because i physically am not able to play any of those besides maybe like Dying Sun LMAL
Too difficult istg
whole album is hype
What a fucking MASTERPIECE dude holy fuck
great record
wish the guitars were a bit louder in the mix
but all things considered not a big deal
8.5/10
edge of infinity is actually peak
cant wait to hear some of these tracks live
This was superb
Though I think I need to listen again once I'm fully awake
hands of sin is still my favorite so far
Dying Sun and title track goated
Loved this. Sick riffs and the usual heavy that bfw do well. Can't wait for the headline tour
This was amazing
A hope in hell still mid and known by no name sounded really quiet
But perfect outside of that
Will listen to this soon
am i the only person who loves a hop in hell?
i personally think its a top tier song from them
the chorus just goes so hard
i just love their songs with the signature huge choruses
I relistened to the album and its a bit better
Still think it's the weakest on this one but it's not awful by any stretch
my least favorites are god complex and known by no name
wait no
known by no name is fire im thinking of a different track
idk i listened to it late as fuck last night lol
dying sun is lethal
i love that song so much
No ure not
A hope in hell is amazing
Ngl EVERY song off tgat album is at least an 8 or a 9/10 imo, at least 7.5. Though only complaint I got is the Immortal Desire chorus, i heavily dislike the feature's voice ans the melody is kinda mid lmao
peak bfw
Hands of Sin and God Complex as well
IPOYH as well
Whole fucking album is so fucking good
My top 2 woild be Hands of Sin and Edge Of Infinity probs
Dying Sun is also sooooo fucking groovy and insanely cool
hands of sin with the old mix would of been my favorite
but it just sounds off to me now
Ah ye ure the old mix enjoyer
I was the one who hated it
Lamo
Lmao*
Duality of bfw listeners
its still an amazing song
It is
the chorus is amongst their best
I was surprised that for ME Buster absolutely butchered the mix
Made it soo mushy, 0 clarity
Couldnt even tell the words from clean vocals lol
edge of infinity is honest to god one of their best fucking tracks
Lrt alone riff notes
i wish the guitars were a tad bit louder in this mix but it doesnt bother me much
Ahreed
Agreed*
I love how groovy thw breakdown of HoS is
and i get to hear this live :)
im just curoius on what they play live
Imagine how huge Dying Sun and Edge Of Infinity are gonna sound live
edge of inf is one of the best album closers ive ever heard bruh
i cant get over this song
this album is just great
i wasnt expecting much
I get you yea on some tracks I agree
But i feel like
The guitars are nice volume
Because it has so many layers
Regarding harmonies and octaves
- synths
its only on a few tracks
and its not a big deal
That they just mixed it into 1 big wall of sound
Yep
Known By No Name is yhe one that I felt needed thr guitars louder
Drums n synths were really dominating there
that and dying sun (even though its one of my favorites) i wish the guitars were a bit louder in some parts
Literally, i almost shed a fucking tear ehen i listened to it for the first time at 1AM lmao
Dying Sun's groove is impeccable
yeah i wont lie i almost cried to it towards the end
But i feel like the volume on Sun was perfect
Because it was highly ambience based song
yeah i get that
As they used
dying suns ending breakdown
Octave down drop B
And only single string on the riff layered
that groove is so fucking vile its insane
Thats atl what i could tell off of liste ing
Literally
surely they play it live
I was caught offguard so hard by that
it feels like its meant to be one of the big songs
^
Alongside infinity
Bro Steven's vocals in Infinity's first chodus
Are probably the
Most emotionally ascending voices ive heard
the ending of dying sun sounds like a war happening in the back
i love the dark undertones of this album
Yea i thought the exavt same
P sure thats whag its about
Dying Sun means the end of humanity ig
Yea
which was really cool
Itd such a dark album
i loved it
Nothing like Shrine
Tbh
Cant even tell psrsonally
I love bpth too much
Ig edge of infinity is the Paradise (shrine) of Zenith
but levitate, temple of lunacy are some of my all time favorites from them
so im bias
Oh definitely
Minr are Shapeshifter and Pathfinder (fracture)
So im all over the place
But their sound has evolved soooooo insanely much
It got REALLY industrial in this album
We didnt really have any synths in the last 3 albums iirc
but i did like shrines mix more
Shrines mix suited shrine
But i think zeniths mix serves it nest
Best
Regarding the vibe they went for
Its way darker
Same with fracture not probably being as good with a diff mix because its a very thrashy album
Big thread
when i was listening to the last track i was just doing the ''absolute cinema'' stance lol
LMFAO SAME
I was doing it most of the album
Shits insane
Tho i feel like they
Overhyped Violent Nature tho a bit in their instagrams compared to some other tracks
I was expectong more from it regardong being more memorable compared to the rest
yeah the ending with the piano notes is a tear jerker i gotta be careful with that one lol
Same
Steven's vocals and goonzi's lead in the beginning
And scott's HUGE final chorus
violent nature is very fracture
Its like Paradise all over again
i like it alot more then paradise
Yea its very like Utopia but heavier
Regardong the riffs
shrine had a few problems like trying to sound huge as fuck with levitate/damnation but failed to deliver a consistent sound, which this record did alot better
Same
Did they? I feel like it felt fairly consistent
idk its just my opinion and what i like from them
But i personally more like albums yhat got diff types of sounding songs thrown into it
levitate feels many steps ahead of the rest of the album
So it would add some variety
but i also feel the same way with fracture and the title track
Levitate is objectively speaking in their top 2 most well composed songs defo
Songs*
Sorry not albums
Lmfal
Lmfao
''overthrone'' is underrated as fuck
Though wouldnt be wrong because i feel like shrine is defo top 2 with zsnith
THIS
I love that steven commented Good Job under my Overthrone guitar cover lmao
Chemical Carnival is also hugely slept om
shrine is great i just like bfw most when they are going for a more ''epic'' sound but i get most of their fans love them for the groove
so i never try to complain
too much
Its such an unique song eith those riffs
And the will to resist got me instantly hooked for a month or more nonstop
Mm
Shrine is their most "epic" sounding album tho no?
Besides Zenith
Fracture and Era were both very thrashy
And fast tight riffing based
And colony was just the most classic deathcore
yeah but i only return to really 3 songs
but its been growing on me alot
I see
my problem is levitate is one of the best modern metalcore songs ive ever heard and alot of it is me being sad the entire album doesnt sound like it
lul
sovergin is insane aswell
''ITS A SOVEREIGN STATTTTTTTTTEEEEE'' into that godtier solo
fracture has its godtier fucking riffs, shrine has its super epic, groovy songs
and zenith has a bit of everything but its alot darker of a record
pretty fuckin great album run
i do wish fracture had more songs like title track
and the end of all we know
The classic bfw entry song for everyone since its release and the fav of every single bfw fan
Agreed
yeah lol
It was so djenty with those gallop stop breakdowns
I like that they used the same typo gallops in Into Nothing as well
Pathfinder is top tier Fracture song tho
Imo
every bfw album i get a new obsession and this one is dying sun lol
the entire record is great
I feel like this is the best album run that i know of
pathfinder is top tier i agree
ive not really checked those out
but from what ive heard its alot more on the thrashy side which i dont reallllly care for
Try Ruina
Afterlife is amazing as well
alr
The chorus is top tier
Lmk how you liked it
bangers, might check out the record later
hell yeah
its pretty good
kinda like if zenith and fracture had a child
but obv nowhere near as developed because its their 2018 album lmao
Great album
good album
I love it too
album was just above mid
nothing really new or interesting. just a standard Bleed From Within album
6.5/10
''AND I WILL WALK TO YOU........I WILL TIE THE ROPE MYSELF, I WILL HANG YOU!''
why was he so mad
i will hang you
and
in place of your halo i will drop the noose
bro really wants to hang some mfs 😭 🙏
hard to fault him tbh
it is any good
I’ve been waiting for the new album to come out before I get into them, same thing with the recent Teitanblood and Deafheaven and the incoming Rivers of Nihil album
I know BTW is going in a more “modern” direction like Caliban and Sylosis
its solid, not bad, but not like crazy good either
like a classic 8/10
a good listen
This album makes me feel like I could run through a brick wall
So far my AOTY, BFW really do be making crazy riffs
"THIS IS ARMAGEDDON" 🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love it too as well
album of the fucking decade
though im not even sure if i like it more or less than shrine and fracture
all 3 of those
are so even for me
cant decide
ok it seems like a good album from the few seconds I skimmed but this is 100% not album fo the decade material
that would be insane stuff like the new Ulcerate or Archspire
the kind of stuff that makes you go “But where do you even go from here”
I’ll see when I get free time to listen to Zeinith, might beat the new KSE, probably still not beating the new Bleeding Through
I mean it just comes down to taste ig
I’m glad this album is out though, last year and this year are great for 2000s metalcore with basically every notable band except for HSB releasing a new album
Still probably going to end up losing to Spiritbox at the Nik Awards sadly
oh yes that is not even a question and more matter of fact
It's going to be this, but with the new Sleep Token album
Mark my words
New KSE was so good tho
SLEEP TOKEN AWARDS ROUND 2 BABY
That album could be the biggest 2/10 album in the world to the point where everyone agrees it's bad, and somehow it'll still win the Nik Nocturnal Awards
I guarantee it.
yeah I've just accepted that Popcore dominates the Nik Nocturnal awards now
its a popularity contest
I've kinda accepted that when somehow Wage War got a spot in Animal Noise when 2 bands that have the most insane animal noise I have heard in my life didn't even make top 5
the biggest surprise was Nails somehow getting into the best breakdown section
wag wags animal noise was prolly a mouse squeak
Like it's fucking NAILS
It was a normal Bleagh
Like... that noise is something my sorry ass could do
and I aint that traversed in vocals
this year battle of tredem should win that
idk very many animal noises this year
I havent paid attention
I usually vote based on what is good. So I go through each section and vote based on which one was the best
not because I'd bend over for the band if I got a chance
my ass voting whitechapel in every category knowing full well they're going to lose to Popcore
🔥 💀 🔥
i think i'll vote synestia for best song
My ass voting for Dexcore knowing they aint even gonna be known
Honestly....
I would tbh
I still play it every now and then
assuming something doesn't top them/they're even in that category ☠️
Animal noise still pissed me off the most
That was by far my breaking point for any category
Wretched Tongues got robbed that category
to fuckin Wage War
shoutout to Benighted on Nothing Left To Fear from Ekbom which didn't even make it
Shoutout to Poppy for best Bleagh
Shoutout to Dexcore for not even making top 5
Shoutout to OBKATIEKAT for not even making top 5 for content creator
wouldn't hanabie be the best chance for a japanese band to get top 5 in something
Doubt it
As much as I would love to see that happen
It wont
Tho... if Broken By The Scream releases something this year, so good in fact they should win an award and they don't, I'll flip shit
isn't even dexcore more popular than them 😭
J-Metal and Japanese Metal are two different things tbh
Jiluka got a better chance than 90% of these bands to win something
I shortened it down
J-Metal is stuff like Jiluka or Babymetal that's kind of explicitly "Japanese" in a way, Japanese Metal is basically just normal metal that comes from Japan such as Sigh or Intestine Baalism
deviloof could be on animal noise or best breakdown or something
People who don't understand that every award show is a popularity contest still baffles me
I mean, they are essentially the same thing tbh
The definition isn't really that loose with it
It's subtle but there's a distinction
Like J-Pop and City Pop being two different things despite both originating from Japan
City Pop could also be any city
There are distinctions for each one
Even though it may be that J-Metal and Japanese Metal are different things, the definitions for each are still present and correlate just about the same
Perhaps, but I'd always make a distinction just based on how I categorize things
Like, Intestine Baalism for example is straight death metal, with melodic characteristics seeping in, it lacks the quirks of "J-Metal" that people usually associate with Japan like weird costumes
If you look them up on Metallum, they're just four dudes in band shirts like Dismember, whereas something like Jiluka plays into the visual kei culture aspect
People probably just associate it with the area of origin. Hell, people still call stuff like Hypocrisy "Swedish Death Metal" when it's just Melo Death
katie deserved it tbh
she shoulda at least been in there
I think it's just a more broader area of origin scope to make the distinction of location rather than mentioning the genre in full
Hypocrisy actually did start out as normal swedeath before they switched to melodic death metal
Cause, I could also just sit here and say that V-Kei is just normal metalcore
Because visuals doesn't correlate to a genre of music, just the visual aspect of it
Just like people who call Glam metal, hair metal
I didn't even care if she didn't get first place
top 5 is all that mattered
for sure
I'd say that visual kei at least has some musical characteristics, mostly just a focus on musical flamboyance, kind of like glam metal
To me, at least
Don't make this a Sleep Token thread y'all
sleep token puts me to sleep with how boring it is
Peak album
Worm ain't even mentioned
I wonder who that was in the chorus part of Known By No Name
Alright, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it - this was way worse than expected
Last four songs have the sauce, Chained To Hate is absolute peak and Known By No Name, as well as Hands of Sin keep pace while Edge of Eternity is a nice closer. In Place of Your Halo is slightly worse but still dope but like....everything else is really boring and lacking, especially considering BFW standards
I'm going to give this a 3rd listen tonight and see if my prior rating improves. I did enjoy it a bit more on listen 2, so I wouldn't be surprised if I raise it 1-2 points
this was my thought process as well on first listen
alright I will improve this to a 7.5
Love the last song, great ending for an album
6/10, great finish but just meh
thats because Jiluka ARE vkei. just like babymetal and broken by the scream are Idol
also, if you go to a record store in japan, J-pop is used pretty all encompassing to be anything from Mr Children to band maid, to Ado and Yoasobi
Also, not all VKei is metalcore, just thats what often gets brought up in conversations in western metal circles
i highly doubt all the vkei groups on this list are metalcore
