if u are using a drum library those usually dont need extreme compression
depending on which one you are using
I'm using EZdrummer with the "Death Metal" dlc.
alr that for sure doesnt need a lot of compression
pretty sure ezdrummer is already heavily processed
np, your song sounded pretty cool composition wise! very moody (?) (which i like)
yeah now the double kick sections are way nicer to listen to nice
I'm still working on the vocals, though.
Yes, thank you!
what i generally do is route all the instruments to a bus as i said
And what do you do with it?
do some compression on that bus to keep the drums snappy but not "pokey"
i basically just put a couple compressors on it
and then i have the vocals seperate
Aha, I understand.
as a seperate bus that doesnt get that instrument compression
I'll try it š
so it kinda "stands ontop" of the instruments
That makes sense
i basically steal all my mixing techniques from nolly so i recommend watching all the videos u can find from him on youtube lmao
thats what i did and im alright now
Okay, I'll check him out. Again, thank you!
Another song on the album I'm working on:
https://soundcloud.com/wintermintp/kumi9z-synthv-remove-the-defender-10-pick-parlay-10-string-guitar-original We just fixed the mix from that new release. How does it sound like now?
guitar used: Agile Chiral Nirvana 102528 EB Pro MOD
vocal synths used: Hitsune Kumi Erase EN, NineZero SynthV, Liam SynthV
We're fighting fire with fire
These kids won't go very far
We blow through a
Hm
Working on properly putting this together with my band, this is early stages of the mix for the song which is basically done i just need to program all the drums in my daw (Everything is finished in a soundtrap project so all the guitar was ripped from that I'm just working on the production stuff rn) and I want thoughts on the mix
the guitar tone is... interesting? and very abrasive. there also seems to be barely any bass. i would only worry about mixing after the song is actually done (ie drums are finished etc) especially since drums are basically the most important part of a mix
am i hearing wrong or is there bass thats panned to the right?
it might be idk whats up w my plugin recently, and the guitar tone is all the guitarist LMAO i have no control over it\
I made this today and thought it was pretty cool
Idk if i need to turn down the bass or not on this but this is probably close to the final mix
hehehe
you should spice up drums tho
i like the idea behind it
drums sound a bit bland
the intro goes crazy
@shut igloo can u give this feed back if u have a chance
turn down the bass
make it more gritty if u can
riffs are nice
id suggest to add some chugging guitar before the vocals
the drums sound a bit low maybe increase em and what kit do u use?
also scream is on point really like it the cleans could get some tuning done to it and maybe open some space for the vocals to fit in i think the bass is taking too much of space and add adlibs and backing vocals too like how do i explain it
like u might have noticed that during screaming there are parts where a particular line or word is also panned with main vocals in center
the idea is really nice
turn down the bass
thoi
and u add a synthish arp after verse 2
make it a hard synth lead
might suit better
for guitar tones it suggest u take suggestions from
weel
cuz he helped get my tone as well
songwriting wise the piano is actually the outro to one of my friends songs. thought it'd be fun to extend it sorta
it's just a piano and a subtle ambient pad thingy that sort of highlights the melody
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE FEEDBACK
Ill respond to some things in a bit as iām in a hurry to get ready atm tho!!
Id suggest u to use ezdrummer death metal kit
It has a good sound
Iām using krihm free for the ohs toms and kick, each one has a custom eq and effects chain and for snare iām using the liquid death snare
Is it free
Im poor
LMAO
i dont have other drums :(
ezdrummer isnt free so
if you know where to look its free
but if youre gonna go that route you might as well get superior drummer since it supports ez libraries
I figured
Idk i lowk like my kit setup i probably just need to dial it in more
there doesn't seem to be very much compression on the drums
Piracy exist just teling
the snare doesnt have any snap which makes it sound pretty like, idk, poppy?
would not suggest piracy if you ever plan on releasing your music to the public :)
and as for me i'd recommend ggd drum libraries
Why tho
if you actually have to ask that im worried
i mean sure its not like a huge chance of this happening
but if you somehow get caught its gonna cost way more than actually just buying the product
if you somehow get caught aka admitting to it
I might not have any at all
I honestly donāt know how to use compression very well
i mean it depends on what u are pirating
compression is probably the most important part in mixing so i'd suggest learning that
Any good turtorials?
I know vocal compression and thats about it
Also any good free plugins i could look into because reapers stock compressors arenāt great
Okay yeah maybe i just sont know how to use it
u can get comper by analog obsession but idk if its gonna help at all if u dont know how to use compressors
but idk just look on youtube ig?
Do u have any tutorial recommendations
id learn what a compressor actually does first and what the different knobs do
not really i havent looked at that in a long time
I know what it does it levels out the audio
but do you know what different settings sound like
do u know what fast attack vs slow attack would mean
so id just watch a like "beginner tutorial" for compressors that just explains all that stuff
Okayokay
i cant recommend u any sorry
Its all good thank you anyways
but what i just did for actually learning how to use stuff in practice
is watching nolly getgood's stuff
like the periphery v full mix overview video thing
Okok iāll look into it
How do i make my mix sound huge?
I canāt figure that out either
In this free mix masterclass, Adam "Nolly" Getgood walks through his mix for the Periphery song "Wildfire". There is however a slight twist - the main drum performance has been replaced with a programmed version using the P V: Matt Halpern Signature Pack.
Want to mix along with Nolly? Instantly get the stems and drum MIDI for free here: https:/...
depends on what u mean by that
Like mick gordon huge
well he uses a lot of synths
to back up the guitar
your guitar tone seemed kinda thin ig?
what do you use for guitar
I tried this thing before to beef up my guitars where i put a synth udee it let me see if i can find an example rq
Should be this
Gate, overdrive, marshall based amp, trvecab and all double tracked
well the synths are secondary u can get a huge sounding mix with just 2 guitars u just gotta have a good tone
My tone is more deathcore focused
This is the same tone nothing is different
Wait let me get the wav it sounds better
it doesnt matter that much
Nvm i dont have wav for it anyways
Yeah it shouldnāt matter too much
this sounds very "raw"
u cant really get a huge sound with this
Honestly when i do deathcore i like the more raw feeling
Heavy into bands like chelsea grin and suicide silence
How do i make my tone bigger?
Should i quad track lead and rythym
I double track each
One panned left and one panned right
For each guiyar
Okok
ok this is a pretty old mix but it sounds okay
I also used to do this thing where iād have on my tone some light octave shifters to add a lower and higher end to the guitar
idk what ur definition of huge is but i think this sounds pretty wide and big
so basically what i usually do if i want to sound "huge" is i just have a regular guitar tone
and then a second one that i mix in that uses the octaver pedal from the neuraldsp gojira plugin
idk if there would be any free alternative that sounds usable
I have a decent shifter pedal i use but its not great
and then i just use different cabs on both tones but u can probably use the same ones
Iāll look into a free alternative that sounds good
and the secondary tone is really like "dull" sounding
I have different cabs for rythym and lead but not each track
More like brick wall kinda tone?
What do the eq presets for it look like?
Okok
i dont really do presets i just dial in the eq to sound good
usually for the main tone i just dial the mids down quite a lot and the highs up a good amount
Yeah i think for my main tone i do that
I usually keep my mids around 3-4 and my highs 7-8
Bass is usually higher too on it
Around 6-7
so here is the main guitar tone
and here is the octaver one
this is kind of a bad example actually because these lowkey sound like shit but it is what it is
oh you were talking about amp eq
i wouldnt crank the bass because at least in my tones i dont really want to have that much bass
it really muddies up the mix if u have too much bass panned to the left and right
also dont be afraid to use a pretty aggressive low pass filter
especially since a lot of the high end on a guitar tone above like even as low as 6khz is just literal noise
I'm not condoning piracy but as long as you don't go and literally advertise that you pirated something you're probably good
that being said they probably dont want us talking about that here
agean music has a free one that's p good
i mean the thing is getting caught isnt the only issue
but i get what u mean
yeah pitchproof, used to use it all the time before I bought gojira x and nameless x
did i do a thing
Hey all! Just joined the discord and love seeing all this healthy feedback. Would love to hear what I could do better in this mix!
definitely sounds a lot better
the drums still need processing tho for sure
Okok
Rough draft of a new song Iām working on
this sounds nice
personally I wouldn't have any notes
Colab anyone?
the guitars feel like the have no balls
like no bass
and the vocals are not for me tbh. The song overall is bright
that being said, reviving an old song
I will add more bass to guitars
Check the google drive link tho bc thats an updated version and i made some changes to the guitar

The extreme planned have higher highs and a bit scooped mods and the 75 planned have higher mods and lower highs
Basically extreme have more clarity

if anyone would work with me for a single in that direction i would be very glad and may do the mastering as well
Funny that everyone is posting here and nobody's getting feedback.
everyone is perfect š

that's how it normally is in these channels
I need some help with vocal ideas and transitions.

Keep playing around my brother! Practice singing as much as you can and keep working on your song writing. It will be easier to find people to collab with once you get a little more chops. I'm saying this as someone who's in the same boat. For now, just keep doing what you're doing and learning.

I'd lower the guitars and cymbals a little
I kinda like overloud cymbals xD

Should I reduce bass asw?

what happened to the overall volume in the intro
ok just read this i guess it was intentional
my wifi won't let me listen .wav files i'm sorry
it just keep stopping
fornite
the drums are bit loud
i don't know of it's me but the guitar sounds wrong to me
i love the vibes too
only during the first section the notes doesn't seem right
YEA THATS WHAT I WANTED TO KNOW
The first note
Sounds wrong right?
ye
Whe the distortion hits the first note is wrong and the others are alright
i think it should be lower
tbh
like it's a semitone or two too high imo
yeah, the distorted parts seem off key in comparison to the rest of the song
Idk lol maybe attack bugginš

Some 2009 crabcore for you guys
The whole thing or just the initial note?
@tribal orbit @craggy plover
wtf is crabcore
sounds good tho
whatever it is
black metal slam
kinda learned to sing so weird intro go brr
Ok, I think now that I've mostly got the intro figured out, does anyone know how I might turn this into humanly possible tunings? I figure now is better than later at this point.
For this sample, you should look at measure 9 in particular for tuning considerations especially for "primary metal" and then measures 5-7 for the "supporting high soprano melodic metal guitar". I'm completely new to guitar stuff.
Oh, also this I guess for supporting high soprano (though 2 frets apart is quite possible; ignore the octave being B3 and E4: this is my tab "clipboard"):
mix feedback pls.
I think I hear strange audio ducks
I'll look into it as soon as I get home
fucks hard
i exported two versions 7 being the one with low gain guitars and 7.1 with high gain
snare could sound better tho

I will listen to it after classes

Okayy
vocal gymnastics loud asf warning i smashed the mix
Don't usually produce metal but I decided to experiment
some argent metal stuff I'm working on
Alrighty
THE POWER :O
i love currents and i would love to create some songs in their direction man how i death listened to the band
I think both sounds kinda eh, mainly they're too sharp
I think if you can find the right EQ shape for it, high gain would work
sick riff. The guitars are prett far back in the mix, and pretty dark
Black metal lol
So I've boosted highs in extreme panned tracks and boosted mids in the 75 panned
holy compression, toenail
hmmmmm
when you say boosted mids, which freq we talking?
Holdup
500-1k
Tho the vol of those 2 tracks is lower than highs boosted track
I heard smwh that for low tuned guitar low gain is good
And it's my first time recording smth in drop e so I really don't know how to EQ that shi
Okayy
What should I do in the high boosted tracks
probs lower how much you boosted it
I'll have to look at it but prolly I boosted it a decent amount
yeah lol. I don't usually do mixes like these cus they suck but it's really fun every once in a whileš
I Call It Arab effing Metal Music (or how it at least should sound like)
I Fully realize my mixing isn't all that good, it makes the presence of each instrument obvious, but highs kinda clip or get too much when too many frequencies are playing at once.
Main issue is that i lost the Project File (stems) So i'm gonna have to start from scratch, but the idea is there.
That slapsssš²
i cant even hear anything
dude
its just noise
if i try hard enough i can hear notes and then i get ringing in my ears
this is literally ai im sorry
whats the point of asking for feedback if youre gonna send ai music? my feedback is to not use suno.ai

Yo, I'm a vocalist, and I love this thall/industrial mix! I'd love to hop on a track and lay down some growls.
On the technical side of things, I'm not sure if the mix is good or bad, but I do love the instrumental. It's rather punchy.
IMO the mix is pretty solid so far, sounds professional. The kick is thumpy and the cymbals are loud enough to cut through the mix. Really like that industrial metal feel.
What I'd change tho is that the snare doesn't sound loud and punchy. You should try making the snare louder or changing the snare. otherwise, good work!
i've already shared this before but whatever, i'm sharing it again
this one's a WIP rearrange based off Komachi's theme, "Higan Retour ~ Riverside View" from the OST for Phantasmagoria of Flower View
some parts are empty because that's where i imagine the vocals to be (can't do vocals)
i tried to give it that 2000s melodic metalcore mix and feel. partly inspired by Killswitch Engage
oh my god i think im adding this
we'll redo the drums asap
Feels so much like killswitch
yeah
Well it is the inspiration
Very smash stuff
Would listen to this a lot if it had vocals and was on streaming platforms
Absolutely love the drums did u program?
I wanna more bout fills
They go hard asf
know more?
how do i describe them they're all programmed
i only program them by feel, what sounds good is good. i also like having small blast beats for fills
sorry if this answer isn't satisfactory enough, i'll find a way to articulate my thoughts clearer soon

Im gonna be honest I have no idea wtf Im doing.
My first attempt at quad tracking rhythm guitars in a while too.
can someone help me finish this
turn the drums up, and a little less reverb on those cross sticks
I got bored, so I decided to cover Heart Shaped Box. Any advice or feedback would be very appreciated. :)
Nice
Tune the g string
Turn the drums up
Or gets down

Add some reverb to the snare
I've begun to add vocals to it. Any advice?
maybe the vocals a little higher,
compress the tthe vocals
and add more reverb
can you send me the project file and ill fx it for you
ive just quickly mastered it for you
Wanna try to make this a single in the next few months. Is the mix and master ready for streaming in y'all's opinions?
@cerulean storm what daw did you use
lil more reverb on that snare and durn the the gtrs up abit
@kind trail ill mix and master it for for you if you could give me your project file. if thats ok with you
like this
thats the the best i can do for now but ill keep working
Is this better @kind trail
i would recommend getting an artist as well, the cover arts look like ai, but the music is killer man

How do my clean screams sound?
i never really mix orchestral stuff but i guess i gave it a go
ya'll might like this one
yeah dude thats fun
just looking for help on where to go from here.
Yeah I kinda figured. Usually I double track guitars so I don't have to push the low end so much. This is the first time in a while ive quad tracked.
Anyone want to tell me what they think about this?
I'm particularly worried about the mix, in which I'm mainly concerned with the vocal mix
For some reason that's something I have a hell of a time trying to get working
Vox start at 0:29
This is AWESOME. Been tryna learn how to get this level of mixing
In your case
Add more Kick and Bass
Notice how my track is laden with tight but full and pumping low end
I also used Double Tracked guitars
Quad tracks are finicky because unless you're as tight as an industrial vice it sounds super sludgy, which is a great sound in certain cases, but might not always be what you want
Yeah. I guess my issue is I'm not exactly great with mixing low end. I can never tell if I'm adding too much or too little. Especially since I mix with headphones mostly cuz I live with other ppl.
What headphones?
Audio Technica MH40s
Those are definitely decent headphones
I have the M50xs
And funilly enough, back when I used those mainly for mixing I think my mixes sounded the same as yours lol
The 50s sounded way too bright to me and flared up my tinnitus when I tried em.
INDEEED
But yeah, if you prefer headphones
I cannot stress just how useful and powerful a Pair of Steven Slate VSX headphones are
Ive heard of those.
They're incredible
@kind trail Cuz like this was my last mix and it came out great in my opinion. Not as good as yours but def closer!
Yeah this is generally nicer to me except the occasional low end flub
I manually mixed the bass using Darkglass instead of using Parallax.
I used to use both for my Bass tone
Then I recreated the tone to my best ability using Saturn
Which cut down the CPU load like crazy
Fabfilter?
Yep
I see
How do you do this?
So
Basically I split the signal into 3 parts
I'll send the chain later in the morning
@kind trail mastered your song for you
This is sick. Ingrown said exactly what I was thinking of the low end needing some beef.
The drum samples are a little distracting. I canāt quite figure out exactly what it is though
Iām ngl I think the kick is pumping the mix too hard
yeah its on my list dw

Damn whatever you got going is PUMPING. I like tonally what it's doing but it's basically ducking everything on some drum hits.
Hey @kind trail is it just me or do you think Darkglass has a richer low end than Parallax.
im thinking of releasing this soon, mixing tips and song writing tips would be very much appreciated

I actually changed the bass plugin all together.
Instead of Parallax, I used Darkglass.
I keep finding that Darkglass (with the distorion turned off), has a much richer low end.
@kind trail
yeah, low end is nicer
sounds kewl. I think the guitar is a little to scratchy, and theres a part in the intro and around 0:50 where the noise gate wasn't set right
I think it's cuz the saturation plugin I got is either too high or is conflicting with the amp sim.
I normally use Neural's Mesa Mark IIC+ plugin which is naturally a little scratchy is the high end due to the gain structure. But Soldano has a different gain structure and is smooth and not very harsh.
I use BPD Saturation which has tube and tape saturation options. I'll fiddle around with it.
This sounds cool af. Idk what it's a remix of but damn. How'd you get your tones man?
Not a remix, and Its just a preset I made in guitar rig with a few eq tweaks
i was told my limiter gain sounds too high by someone in another server, is it?
its at +5.2
is this bad?
i did try to switch the limiter to a normalcompressor instead since i think thats a better choice š
i love pumps but no-one else likes my mixes
not my song but i just stole it and mixed it for my own entertainment
might be the style but i feel like the sidechaining is too hard
yeah
this is what i needed i think
yeah
lil more reverb on those vox tho
i thinks
on that fade out make white noise go louder and louder and maybe have those voocals absolutly smashed with reverb
like this ?
hell yeah!
vocals overall might need to be a little louder
have you compressed them?
yea
oki
sound good tho
if your ok with it ) can you send me the stems so i can experiment with it and make some mix changes
theres like 16 drum tracks i dont feel like it š
little demo that makes no sense
Is this too similar to deftones? Because I was just trying to make a vibey banger.

I wouldn't say I dislike the pumps. Its just sometimes it just doesn't work.
Like this one works surprisingly well for this. Kinda reminds me of P1.
Mine doesn't quite work as well. I was going for a 90s style of mix.

short snippet of upcoming artcore metal project while i think of how to progress it
it's more artcore than metal i think bc i purposely moved back the guitar to a more background role
i reused the melody from my older abandoned artcorey metal song lololo
potential title candidate(s) for this song would probably be "Chime of Frozen Aeons"
Should I keep making songs on just my bass?
I am only using a bass guitar for all of the guitar parts. I do everything on my own!

not many complains i can give, sounds pretty good, maybe just needs to be mastered
cheers bud! appreciate any nitpicks if you have em. how are u finding FL for producing metal? i cant remember why i stopped using it - i think the rack/playlist stuff got confusing for me
playlist as in like where you place patterns?
yea
idk i just have one track for everything, makes recording guitar easier, i named each track with the insert number that the guitar is in the mixer, although not metal, i used these guys videos for learning FL https://www.youtube.com/@inthemix/videos

, your whole new mixing approach has produced piercingly high frequencies from the vocals, cymbals and lead guitar panned on the right side especially during the solo
and the whole mix sounds thin and squashed, maybe because of something on the master track

How do you like this @fathom jewel
By the way wassup bruh I don't see you in this channel often :3
compostion sounds badass, just a nitpick but maybe turn down the overheads a little bit, high end from the cymbals is clashing with your lead guitars
Yeah I actually have that problem a lot. Still trying to master that part. But thanks for the kind words!

i tried vocals for the first time what do y'all think
[VERSE 1]
The world goesssss,
Into non existenceeee,
No screams leftāonly silence burns,
A thousand suns, yet none return.
Scorched roots in hollow graves,
We carved our fate with ashen spades.
The breath we stole from sacred land,
Now slips like ash through dying hands.
[VERSE 2]
Winds whisper in forgotten tongues,
The earth laments what weāve become.
We laughed as oceans cried in waves,
Built shrines of glass on shallow graves.
Truth eroded, soul betrayed,
Nature bled while we prayed.
Fires raged, the forests wept,
We tore the world, now there's no turning back.
[BREAKDOWN]
You sowed the fracture
now reap the quake
You carved the wound
now feel the pain!
The price of destruction now you got to pay.
The skies have shattered
the ground has cracked,
A world reclaimed
without the man.
You lit the flame
now watch it burn,
thousand embers rise
consuming plight.

do u have a tut where i could learn how to record vocals and mix em?
1 compresser
2 deesser
3 saturation (for screams)
4reverb

if you are new i would spend a decent amount of time working on EQ and compression before getting into any other weeds - find a reference you wanna sound like and learn what the knobs do and mess around with em
the problem with following a tutorial, particularly with vox is like 90% of the work is addressing the issues specific to your recording environment
Wanna sound like vocal randy blythe

He uses the Soundtoys Decapitator plugin (which is amazing and awesome), but if you don't have it you can create a similar effect using any distortion or satur...
Thanks broski
Also is there a way to set up mic for recording screaming vocals? Like I have a dynamic and condenser mic, which is better for recording screams ps. I do inhale screaming
i'd ask in vox thread cos i'm not experienced at all with it but my two cents is that condenser would be a lot easier for beginner - can record further away with pop shield and less proximity effect. randy uses a dynamic on that record though, might as well experiment with both if you have em
i think bands that prefer dynamics usually it's because the vocalist has good technique from live shows and knows how to use axis and distance to get the sound they want
Everything everyone else has said is pretty much what I wouldāve said lol
Sorry for the late response
I see thanks for explaining
No worries broski
i like knocked loose
cool song
I like the mood
sounds cool to play around with

is it mixed?
i really dig with the atmospheri thing in the background
try to be more dynamic with vocals
riffs are good
forgive my sloppy ass playing I will eventually record it better (the tone is ass I know but my guitar produce a lot of buzz and hum so the di is very noisy)
Can u Elaborate a bit
Try to change flow and to be less repetitive
in my opinion
Is this too much like Breakong Benjamin?

any tips on mixing vox? i tried sidechaining with soothe on the guitar but still strugging to have it intelligible without dominating the mix
idk about weak link but the vocals are a bit loud, kick could use a little more transient imo
How are the performances?
sounds dope to me
Fair enough, I might just be super perfectionist
@kind trail i think you might need more reverb on the vocals
Updating this one. I'm never satisfied š
A song I initially wrote for a college class. Couldn't put all the bells and whistles I wanted on it intially when I handed it in so I went back and did it.
@wicked berry @tribal orbit
I made a big improvement with the drums and it almost completely transformed the song.
good spellung
just got to this now, listening
ooooh
I like
the tone is nice, the mix feels full. I'm not noticing any like off frequencies
The ambient lead is a nice touch too
.O.
FUCK YEA
upon a second listen, I think the only thing is the mix could feel a little wider, but given I don't know your master chain and all that, I couldn't exactly tell you how
it feels nice and wide once the ambient lead comes in, but before that/after it's a little (like I'm talking maybe 97% of the way from width) narrow
I don't put anything except one compressor on my master bus. All the mixing I do is on individual busses.
that being said, here's a demo of my own
ah, maybe look at the JST maximizer. I really like that one
I have been ngl. There's a trick I like to do that my professor taught me sometimes when im unsure. I put a eq on the master and high pass up to 100ish and low pass up to maybe 8k. If everything sounds good in the middle then it's all good. His logic is that bass and high frequencies can sometimes distract you from the meat in the middle.
Guys got stories too. He's been mixing since the 70s!
Lol
He actually told me on my last day to start looking into more psychoacoustic mixing.
Things I can do to trick the brain into thinking my mixing sounds wider or than it actually is.
As for your mix, your mixes are always awesome af.
I'm not exactly sure what you could add.
I will say I find that if you have a comp on your master bus it'll either help or hinder your drums. And if you use some kind of limiter it'll sometimes fight the comp even if you're barely using it, not really a way around it.
Never really thought of that. I rarely run compression in the master
Yeah it's something I've learned on my own. I only use a tiny bit of comp too. I don't push it, just to use it as glue to bring everything together. It'll end up messing with the drums a little bit too. Just kinda the nature of the beast.
I usually group similar freq instruments and then use a glue compressor to hold it all together
noice
any opinions on the mix/master?
This is fucking awesome as shit. I'd want just a bit more smack on that snare but that's just personal preference as I like a big snare with lots smack.
I am curious as to how you got your bass to meld so well together. I struggle with that.
I used a saw synth to layer the bass notes, maybe that helped
Guys, any help..? I wanna last the piece but dunno how
Dont mind the name, Iām writing this for a musical :]
I never really get satisfied with it
Is this a decent/heavy riff?
jesus crist
thoughts?
suona come i Lorna Shore. Il tuo suono di chitarra sembra un po' troppo forte. Ti consiglio di aggiungere più strati come ambienti e bassi in caduta.
I don't know if you are italian but thanks you anyway! My guitar has an annoying annoying noise which I don't still figured out how to fix, so the tone is the cleanes i can obtain I believe, looking forward to add more stuff
I think the it misses the enrgy in the low end
I don't know if there is a bass but I can hear something low
i like the adrupt pauses they add character to the song
you did a good job at creating atmosphere
sounds great!
@craggy plover MAY I ASK WHY IT SAYS YOUR A TERRORIST?!
because its funny
I don't work much with clean vocals, but I'd assume just leveling and maybe a small dip in the mids of the guitars could help
it'd be a lot easier to know what you need to do once the vocals are in the track
breakdown
always
just some chugs on the low string
(idk much about orchestration but that sounds sick af)
sounds decent, could use some work and maybe the context of a song around it though
this sounds awesome
what are you referring to when you say weird noises?
sounds nice
what message are you refering too?
thanks you!
Referring to this

my bad I read weird notes

Thanks man! I just kinda made it randomly not knowing what I was doing!
@shut igloo You might like this one too.
Sounds nice asw
Honestly tho a personal pref ig I'd make the rhythm a bit brighter
Riffs are cool asf
it's a good start. snare could come up a little, and I think the lead at 0:50 is a little loud
also lacking a lot of low end, is there a bass at all?
otherwise on the right track tho
the vocals are too loud, drop em down in the mix a little and it'll be good
cymbals also lacking high end, could use a shelf boost above like 12k or 16k
No base yet. Usually do bass last.
After vocals.
Interesting choice
Because im equally good at bass as I am guitar.
I try to do solo / fills through my lines.
I suck at making drums. So I try to go all out on bass
Whatever works, that just isnāt an order Iāve seen or heard before
Haha
Well, when I self taught and learned how to record through YouTube. Just how I do things.
Ive made complete songs with just bass and used distortion when my guitar was in the shop
Something new I'm working on, a bit more progressive than usual.
A little different from what i normally do, this is my first fl project to try and learn music more on the electronic side
the weird pluck is kinda distracting cuz otherwise it's cool sounding. reminds me of MegaMan Zero music
added some big hits
have this for a project, not super confident in the breakdown transition?
love that riff
that dissonance is nasty š
Thank you!
Made the solo a bit longer and some other minor changes.
https://youtu.be/g4BEeitnyAs first time using archetype nolly
tones made using archetype nolly by neural, thanks for watching!
like?
i deadass thought you were tryna make a My Curse recreation with that intro š
pretty gud š
would pass off pretty well as one of the slower 2000s melodic metalcore songs imo
some experiment djentcore thing
made this to screw around with the Mixwave Sleep Token II drums and also Synthesizer V (no lyrics yet, also i'm using ||Kasane Teto||'s voice)
i like how that ongoing lead guitar w/ reverb in the background serves fits well even though it's playing through almost the entire song
legit I thought kasane teto was a guitar
š
they should do a Kasane Teto guitar pedal like that Hatsune Miku one
Anyone able to help with adding like stuff in between or overal improving this riff? I really like the melody and stuff, but feel like it could be improved a lot. Like I'm at 60% of what I think it could be
ok jesus that is very compressed
i recomend
not doing that asmuch
What is compressed?
I barely use compressors.
Just volume-wise?
some chunky shit i made the other night. any tips and/or feedback (mainly on mix stuff, i know i could improve with songwriting) would be greatly appreciated
damn this bihh compressed af
production (and some of the riffing) kinda reminds me of August Burns Red's Messengers album
i'm personally a fan of this kind of in-your-face master
but if you're looking for a more professional mix, IMO I could suggest lowering the bass guitar a bit. I think it causes that overall clipping when put through the master. also tone down the kicks and snares, it kinda has this sidechain effect on the mix
gives me some Periphery - Blood Eagle vibes imo
an attempt was made.
influenced by the Diablo Swing Orchestra
update
now tuned to drop f# and also added chorus in the latter half (which there is no vocals yet and also haven't written the verses and the like)
Working more on my mix, I think this is my best to date
I still would like thoughts on it however, so any feed back would be appreciated
ouchy riff
I started watching this show called "Gachiakuta". Absolute Peak. Wrote this
Needs a little work for sure
But I think I'm on the path to peak
Drop F# is a lot of fun
So much thickness to it
Once I tuned down to F#, I never tuned back up
It sounds like you're slamming whatever clipper you're using
I'd bring it down
It's really hard to pick out details in your mix when I can barely hear anything clearly, right?
idjk
I like the industrial sounds
everytihng is too squashed
I agree with scout-173
nice
guitar and vocals are fighting for the same frequencies spot, they clash
overall the vocal mix is weird
some fuckin 2000s melodic metalcore thing
i tried to make the screams using synthesizer v thats why it sounds so shit š
and there's lyrics (still using synthesizer v) here but rushed ones b/c i had to make some vocal pieces eventually
not used to mixing vocals
Thoughts on this mix?
I factory reset my pc and of course didn't save any of my presets so I have to mix from scratch š„²
š
How is this instrumental mix sounding?
everything is so dark
that snare is so wet
I might change the chorus cause I kinda don't like it, thoughts?
or maybe I should remove the chorus
You are on the right path
I actually didn't have reverb or anything on it, just EQ and compression š
Here's the previous mix of that song. I genuinely can't tell which is better, ear fatigue is a bitch
To be fair, it is a darker song
objectively
I think my mixes are finally decent
there is basically no bass and the guitar tone is very harsh on the ears
the compositions are pretty sick but the mixes definitely still need a lot of work
the only high end in this song is coming from the cymbals
the drums sound like they are coming from a concert hall across the street and im not sure how u achieved that
if that was intentional then i guess its cool but if you are going for a regular metal production it definitely sounds off
Everything onyx has said I agree with
Me when blitz and ff still need finalized drums but you get the idea
Should I turn up the sub layer a little bit?
I have an electric bass with bass turned down for the sound and sub bass that provides the bass
well in general there is just barely any bass
listen to songs with good mixes and try to "aim" for something like that
ie. use references while mixing
tone is weird
is this mix good?
update
no extensions
Definitely not going for typical modern production, I'm not the biggest fan of the kick sound but I actually really liked how the snare sounded EQ'd this way
I took the regular drums, mixed them in. Then I low passed them around 200 hz and mixed that in. Had another layer with a very mild overdrive on the low pass. And I compressed the whole mix and mixed it with the uncompressed mix for that one
Yo, I'd like some feedback on this, something I need tips on. Is the mixing all right here? Are the vocals as well?
@tribal orbit @fathom jewel @wicked berry
A project I shared here only once before. I improved it. The whole concept is it doesn't have any high gain only some crunch or low gain (minus the solo).
ohh I like it so far
very recession rock esque
I think the only tghing I'd touch up compositionally would be the drums. They're a tad repetitive
I also think some daughtry/shinedown styled vocals would be sick on it
Vocals are next actually! I got start writing them which is a biiitch TwT
Will do!
Real

i need help is it good
COOL LITTLE THING
ive been trying to add more triplets and tempo changes in my songs, tell me if the song sounds good
idk why it was in 128kbps last time so here
vocals are a little to loud and sound liquidy
but the instramental is sick
if u mean reverby, thats the stems š„ cant really do anything ab that
oh is it a master?
