O dang that's a bop
Yeah
Gonna release it soon
Yesterday I finished making the cover and logo of the band
Wanna see?
yas
Seraph null? Awesome name
The design is quite sleek too
Thanks!
Speaking of yesterday, just yest I was sketching this fanfare thingy, yk like those victory screens in games, but more epic
Clash of Clans vibe lmao
Whoa that's a throwback xD
Yeah
Peak game
Still not bad but not as good as it used to be
DAMN THAT SMACKS
One of the tracks from the album we are working on and also a forthcoming single
We just need to do the mastering
Well, or at least try lol
Did I do it justice
I think so
Someone a Celldweller fan?
Or maybe you prefer Circle of Dust?
Yessirrr
Epiccc
And Blue Stahli
Idk what Bret is doing since Obsidian
Man's been mia
Damn
First discovered him after Dead Rising 2 came out.
Kill the Sound was a dope ass song.
Unfortunately I don't know any of them
Celldweller-ish moment maybe at the end :v
Some old af wip I haven't finished. Awful vst guitar but I'll fix it some day
What y'all think of the chorus here at 0:50 btw?
Good idea or nah?
What about Voicians? Zardonic?
Nah
I know that Piano vst. That's Quiet Piano!
I'll listen to them
Chorus at 0:50
And then celldweller-ish? Moment almost at the very end at like 3:25
Sounds nice
Reminds me of something off Soundtrack from The Voices in My Head Vol. 1
bro teach them whistle screams bro tf
I barely know how I get them. I'm pretty sure I just up the shit outta my larynx and hope for the best
E๐ ฑ๏ธic
lmao that's sick asf
one of the admin from the screaming discord said it can be done true vocal folds, imma try that one
Then there's this one, probably my best sketch so far. No mixing or anything but I'm excited to continue at some point. Went full Sawano lmao
Why aren't you doing game soundtracks
Like wtf
This is great
sounds like a dying animal
No one's hired me
Put yourself out there bruh
Maybe when I finish half of these demos and actually post them lmao
Felt that
An old project
The goal was just experimentation with ambience.
It reminds me of the atmospheric ambient sections of some of the The Raven Age albums
I love The Raven Age
Holy shit I thought I was having a fever dream they do exist!
So few people know them, it's ridiculous
They're not bad at all they've got bangers
Idk why they're so underground
Considering who their founder is
Who is their founder?
Also they're as underground as SE7EN is.
SEVEEEN
dang it I was about to say that
No way we share the same braincell wtf
Man was arguably doing djent long before Misha was.
Their founder, and their guitarrist
He's the son of one of the Iron Maiden members lol
They've got backing
Yet they don't pop off which is hilarious
WHAT THE FUCKETY FUCK
I gotta give them another listen.
I'm not into iron maiden but I love the raven age, go figure
Steve Harris' son....that makes so much sense.
He doesn't play bass tho he plays guitar
Which might have stung to the old gentleman xD
But yeah
They've even been allowed to open for them and stuff in shows
Yet it's like there's invisible
Honestly I'm not surprised why they don't get a lot of attention. Despite the backing of Maiden, Maiden themselves aren't as mainstream as other bands of their era.
Yeah that is true
Its kinda like we know who Vended are becuz both Corey and Clown are in one of the biggest bands of their era.
Or another example is Wolfgang Van Halen. He's a fuckin Van Halen, of course he's gonna attention. I remember when he was in Tremonti for a bit. Ppl were freaking out.
I got to see Tremonti when Wolfie was in. Tho it was only once.
He left after that album came out.
Oo
Yeah bruh it was awesome. Was literally on the wall of death.
It was awesome.
The final song was Wish You Well from the first album (one of the few Tremonti songs I know how to play minus the solo cuz he's a mad lad)
Went hard af live.
The place was small so when multiple pits opened up with me right in the middle of 2 or 3 of em it was something else.
Damn
One bro just did the mixing of my track
Wild stuff
For me, mixing is like magic
I don't understand it absolutely
I'm trying to figure out what about the mix is bothering me
I think there's something wrong with teh vocal eq when combined with the guitars?
Idunno, I just slapped my vocals with my usual mixing chain on top of the instrumental, added some JW busglue mix compression, a limiter, and that was kinda it

Cuz it's just a cover on top of the instrumental I got lol
Ahhhh
The instrumental being just a single audio file yea
yeah that'd do it
Lol ye
okay that makes a lot more sense
I guess I could do something like Trackspacer style sidechain the whole instrumentals to my vocal signal to make auto EQ cuts to have it clash less?
Didn't do it out of lazyness tho tbh
Anyways how's the vocal performance xd
Maybe
Still gotta tweak the kick too, so mix isnโt fully done yet
Might choose a diff kick sample, not sure how much I fw the one I used
fair enough
@runic adder @fringe geode @kind blaze thots plox
also did a stupid and added 808 cowbell synth bits, trying to do a phonky thing
a ping! i need a distraction from writing my paper give me a second
well first of all, why is alexis on fire?
Song is cool imo, very upbeat
mix-wise, it sounds fine, again i really fw the saturated/compressed vocals
also the speed up at the end is fun
cowbell could come up a little
The original inspiration was Alexisonfire, though it ended up feeling more like a mix between that and The Offspring tbh
I think the most obvious part would be the verse for the AoF inspiration
But does it fit?
it definitely adds to it
also this mix is breaking my brain
there's something wrong but for the life of me I cnat tell what it is
with the production?
it sounds real good to me
Hey guys. I just bought Gojira X and my first audio interface. Felt like I needed to go to the next step. So I don't really know how all of it works, nor the best ways of handling them are. Though, here's my first attempt at a mix and guitar sound.
The song is not finished, vocals, finishing touches etc. But I'm not quite sure on the guitar sound. I've had a hard time making it fit in the best way. Any tips on the EQ or tone-setting in the plug-in? Thanks for any feedback!
(I know, it's a long boi, you can skip around)
here's some of my stuff, one example is way higher tuned than the other (Drop C# for the nu metal style one and Double Drop D# for Invent Animate copycat), looking for some feedback on the mix and whatnot!
Holy shit, sounds sick af! ๐ฅ
thanks man
they sound pretty good ngl i could say that it sounds a bit tinny if yk what i mean
strong on the high end
i like it alot though
thank you!
also my mixes suck so dont take it all for serious
the nu metal styleone is tinny but that's because there any real kicks and whatnot to add to the low end
I'm trying to get better at mixing too. Very difficult.
yup also for some reason the bass was just having mad beef with me so I didn't bother after a certain point
lol i feel you ๐
also right before that one I was recording some stuff that went as low as Drop F# an octave down
so I was kinda used to that
like here I think the bass is more present
Thank you
Damn, you're good at this
thanks man
Odeholm Drums helped a lot with the mix
I mean I could mix drums myself but it's easier not to bother
Yeah
also SD3 (the kit I used before) after a while would just consistently crash Reaper soooo
I use EZdrummer with the Death Metal extension.
that's decent for demoing
the best advice I can give for mixing at the beginning is just
use a pre-mixed kit
thall
oh yeah
fixed it
ignore the 5 version jump that's not real
lmao. I'll give it a listen in a sec
fixing a year-old mix atm
taking a lot of work
fair
SOOO MUCH BETTER GODDAMN
@runic adder that shit is nasty and I love it
I think all that's left vocal mix wise is to adjust some levels and then bam
i think if i open that project again I'm going to explode ๐
adjust levels up or down?
Also I tried to fix these mixes. Might end up just re-recording them and starting from scratch tbh
up. Maybe like .5 to 1 db up
I'd bring the vocals down slightly in egg, sounds fine otherwise. Maybe tweaks to the lead tone, but that's preference
maybe make the growls less reverby? not a pressing issue, sounds good for remixes of old productions
The lead tone's always been more washed out than anything else, and tbh I like it like that
but ye I was concerned about the vocal levels
ty
spent a bit of time working on this today with my band, mostly did production stuff
holy that snare is nasty
melodic thrash
Good old piccolo snare ahah
what choir vst you use bro ๐
sounds fuckin sick!!!!!
Audio Imperia Chorus is a perfect for both soft and epic cinematic music and one of the best choir sample libraries I've tested. Chorus is available for the free Kontakt Player.
Check out Chorus here:
https://www.audioimperia.com/products/chorus-modern-cinematic-and-symphonic-choir-for-kontakt-player
Want personalized feedback on your music? N...
oh wow thanks :DDD
love me some thrash
Here's some Chorus Energetic Syllables patch demo I did. The chords get progressively more ridiculous lmao
the bass could be more audible though, sounds like And Justice for All 2.0. w/o it
these choirs sound perfect for bloodborne type orchestral music
Chorus is like $500 bucks tho, so you're really paying for the strongest and most realistic choir vst in the market atm
But usually best results are combining chorus with another layer
Like Metropolis ARK 1's choir, Oceania2, Wotan/Freya, etc
So it's a lot of $$$$$ for realistic choir
i have my ways YARRR HARRRR ๐ดโโ ๏ธ
It also has several other Dynamic types
do you have to work extra for it to sound realistic???
And that's without me fully controlling the modwheel
I try w/ other instruments but it doesn't sound as realistic as I wanted
Just the modwheel CC/velocities
Okay
Make sure you're using the right articulation for the job too
I find so many people who just write for their symphonic demos
And then I take a listen
And their strings/brass sucks cuz they're all using the frigging Sustain/Legato articulation to do short notes
yea
Staccato and spiccato, and even marcato have their separate articulations for a reason

If that + proper Modwheel dynamic curves and velocities doesn't get you sounding nice, then it's just you using a bad library
so the key is in the modwheel and velocities? noted
Yeah humanization in general
Other extra tips are making sure you know if your library has time-delay
Some libraries need to process a lot in real time
So the notes you play might have a couple milliseconds of delay
You have to compensate for that by putting a negative time delay adjustment in your track
yea
It's different amounts for every single library out there so the best recommendation is just by ear
I do that whenever I use Joshua Bell Violin
Some libraries are also "tighter" in timing than others
it allows you to customize the time delay I think
Metropolis Ark 1 has sloppy as shit spiccatos that aren't all that in time
While something like Jaeger has super tight spiccs to the grid
But Jaeger sounds way more synthy while ark has a lot of real character lol
Somewhere in between is the sweet spot
You can fix too much tightness by manually slightly off centering the notes from the grid to humanize them
But you cannot fix super sloppy short notes that are baked into the library
You can only layer them to mask it
okay
what about Audio Imperia Nucleus?
Here's some good string libraries:
1-Pacific (legato is gorgeous but very portamento-ish. Needs a bit of reverb help)
2-CSS (gorgeous legato. needs considerable reverb help and the delays are a nightmare)
3-Vista (great legato but it's chamber strings so way smaller sounding)
4-TSS (Dry as bones. ridiculously heavy. 250GB)
5-CS2 (CSS but old and bigger hall)
6-Areia (very processed)
7-Duality
8-SSO
9-ARO (the low strings are top 3 tho and sold separately)
10-ARK
Here's brass:
-Afflatus (imo best legato. Room is kinda small so you gotta reverb it a bit and mess with the mic positions)
-Infinite Brass (combines it with synth modeling, it's harder to use than all others but can get you quite nice results)
-JXL brass (not great legato, the low end is great tho)
-Pacific Brass (Great for shorts and all that, doesn't have legato tho)
-CSB (good french horn, rest is meh tho)
-Cinebrass (A bit old and complex but it can get a lovely old school Hollywood sound if you're really good at what you do)
-Ark's brass (kinda ok, it sounds humongous and epic but the legato is bleh and the timing can be sloppy)
-Talos (Epic over the top only, no low dynamics and the dynamic layer crossfades are not great for smooth changes in dynamics)
Percussion
-If you want epic, go with DAMAGE2
-If you want traditional, go with Cineperc
Woodwinds:
-CSW
All in ones:
-Nucleus. (Nucleus is cheap in general like $250 for that huge orchestra+ their nucleus choir. Nucleus Lite allows you to only write sections aka the violins and violas are together and you can separate them, but it's the best entry level deal you can get. $99 is awesome for the enormous amount of instruments to get. It won't sound as good as specialized separate libraries like the ones above, but cohesively, it can make you sound pro. Sounds very processed out of the box tho.)
-SpitfireSymphonicOrchestra (The new revamp of their orchestra where they package everything together. It's a great all in one. Doesn't sound as processed as nucleus out of the box but it is way more expensive and not that well suited for epic over the top modern.)
you sure know a lot about these libraries
I've been researching for years xD
I'm in the orchestral sample library community a lot
And I watch Kevin

Cool
Just go watch Kevin's vids, he reviews these very honestly lol. More indepth than what I told you. They don't sponsor him to talk nicely, it's his earnest thoughts on em
changed the drums and guitar a lil bit
altered cymbals, made kick a bit louder, tuned the snare up
rhythm guitar tone a bit more thrash
I don't know if it's any better, but I added some things.
So, I have an intro-track (Wake Me, When all is Shining) for my album. I just started working on the follow-up song that builds upon it. I haven't made that much on it yet. ๐
this is my first attempt in a LONG while making something that is not slam or tech death lol.
mixing and shi also has a long way to go
i love me some djent with atmospheric elements
pretty good, kinda reminds me a bit of Solstice by Starset
Beautiful atmospherics
i recorded the guitars drunk lol
i think i fixed the guitar tone for the most part any tips on how i could make it sound better?
yeah i turned it up a notch
u can hear it a little better now
dont wanna make it too obnoxious ofc
which drum plugin do u use?
that's a bit better now
IMO you should lower the drums a bit since it overpowers the guitars
them hi hats fucking quick as fuck lmao
awsome
nice riffs drums good too i like it,cant say much about mix but sounds pretty good
tenks
oh yeah
i feel like the snare is just a bit loud here's the isolated drum track
should i lower the cymbals?
sounds great the breakcore drums at 1:55 are a bit loud though
guys new funny mr whiter slam has dropped
more low end on the guitars and i love this shit! good stuff
in case you guys want to you can give me feedback ๐ idk on what you could give feedback but if you want to try blese do
thats kinda intentional to give it that distorted poorly mixed feel ukwim
should i add more low end?
boost the low end by a quadrillion db
this track is begging for some vocals ngl
it do
end is just a drum solo xD
i know, i still have to figure out riffs xd
yo where can i get other rolesร
young strapping lad ahh
other roles as in discord roles right?
if that then prolly
id:customize
thx
no worries fam
like for the 808's or for the tracks? The actual drums are UgriTone, but they went out of business. The 808's are just the built in ones from Ableton
Sounds pretty good. A little bright but ye
thats the vibe i was going for
understandable
i like it bright, and roomy.
still need to figure out some mixing myself. i only dont know how to process drums right.
i used that hard panned and 75% panned thingy with different eq on both
it kinda makes it wide asf
@tribal orbit what do u say wanna try some vocals xD
depends on the lyrics and if I have time but sure
AMENBREAK BRRRRRRRRR
Lmao AmenBreak metal needs to be a thing more often
That was fun
IKR
Thanks man
Apparently I was today years old when I found that eyeless intro also had amen break
Hehe yeaaa
Btw did I get it this time? I tried this one as practice. Phone recordin. Might as well also ping @tribal orbit @fringe geode @kind blaze
Satellites p4?
Yea. Did I nail it?
Pretty much but I think the really high parts were Lil bit off
Tho m not a vocalist so its better to ask someone else xD
Lmao
I wonder why everyone pings me lol
I'm like a worse musician than 90% of people here (This doesn't mean that you shouldn't do it, I'm just surprised)
I think more work is needed on the highs but otherwise it seems good
+1
@mortal dock
How do you record vocals in a track
Like how many layers of vocals should be recorded
Like atleast 2 hardpanned channels for guitars etc, in that context is there any basic ruleish type thing?

It depends on what you're wanting
The standard tends to be that you at least do two takes and double them
Or do 3. One center, one L, one R
If you want way more thickness you can do a shit ton of more layers and go wild with their panning, but that's the minimum standard
Unless you want to be way more straightforward and just do single take centered, which is more old school
Uh. Idk how I feel about the vocals, personally. I think part of it is the technique and the rest is the equipment/mixing of it
guitar sounds noice
the mix sounds neat
I think the drums could be a bit more louder and the snare could sound more snappy/punchy tho, since it kinda sounds more on the background rather than giving the song a clear pulse IMO
vocals should be a bit louder, most metalcore songs you hear the vocal clearly through the instrumentals
wip redoing from scratch
sounds wildly different from original project
Itโs very dark, and lower mid heavy. Levels on the vocals could be adjusted a bit higher
The snare is really out of place, sounds like a snes or n64 sample imo
Buy the rest of it is really kewl
ill consider this, thanks
very dark? is that bad ๐ญ
Dark as in the bass and lower mids overpower anything in the treble and high mid range
So youโre left with something thatโs not bright, but dark
i guess i got too cocky when people told me my mixes have no bass ๐
Thereโs always a balance to achieve
The bass should occupy, well, the bass
The kick and part of the snare sit in that same range too
im mixing with a normal cheap gaming headset too so im hoping that isnt holding me back, i dont wanna use that as an excuse tho
That can hold you back
Depending on the make and model, itโll have a diff freq response
its a hyperx cloud stinger lol
I donโt know it, youโd have to search it up
And usually a dark mix isnโt caused by the bass tone
Itโs usually an over tuned guitar and vocal tone that cuts too much high mids and trebles
ooh
You can probably see what your mix looks like using a multiband EQ to show the response and youโll see that your bass is definitely overpowering the treble
Hm
Then ig there are things happening in the treble
I just canโt notice them lmao
Uh what does your guitar tone and EQ look like?
Like do you have a high pass at around 120 hz?
You arenโt shaping the EQ?
In just that file, I can tell you need to shape it better. Clear up the mud in the mids and maybe add some high mids and treble
i also have this in my program that i use to turn my interface sound as an input
lol
i tried the drum thing idk if its what u meant๐ญ
methink too loud drums now
okie im closing this project for now heres the latest ๐
https://youtu.be/Jbi7EocXWKU what y'all think?
i think it's the best "song" i made, the one i like the most
A wip from my band
So, I have a harsh vocal concept now. Any tips on how to improve it? Gonna add cleans too when I muster up the courage. ๐
i love the clean tone at the beginning, track sounds good
gonna extend it? or will it be only 45 seconds?
12 minutes...golly. For the harsh vocals, how do you have your tracks panned? I'm finding it hard to hear and focus on them, and it kinda feels like there isn't a center track, though that could also just be from the level so bumping them in the mix could help a little as well. Also try lowering the reverb a little
sounds interesting so far, though
@runic adder what do u think of this
hahaha
aight aight
guitars could use a little more mids, and the bass could come up a little. cymbals could come down juuuust a little, but Im a sucker for loud cymbals lol so I like it. The electronic segments, to me at least, feel a little too loud? just feels like a definite volume shift between those and the non electronic sections. song sounds good though
if i had to lower the electronic bit by how much dbs should i
well m also a sucker for loud cymbals xD
good question
play around with it
alrighty
start with like -2 id say
tho i think the synths and all are pretty low
just that amen break sample is a bit too loud
alright
could also feel that way because the guitars feel thin
nah
i think the main cause is that the sample is a bit louder
just listened to the switching from electronic bit to drum
so i have quad tracked the guitars the extreme panned have highs boosted with lows cut of
and the inner tracks are75% panned and they are mid scooped
and highs rolled down a bit
might increase the mids
to make it feel
a bit heavier
gonna try that after i come back from school
xD
today's my eng final exam of my final year at school
nice
good luck soldier ๐ซก
but definitely try either
a. increasing the mids in the guitars
b. lowering the trble and presence and raising the level of the guitars a little
when you get the chance
something like this as maybe a jumping off point
@shut igloo
mids bump and highs lowered a little, though this is on the full track so you'd be able to change it a lot more
Alrighty I'll try that when I come back
do the changes at the source tones though, don't just eq the master
That sounded way better
actually lowering the cymbals a little bit and tweaking the guitar tone a little can get great results
Yeet
Thanks man
no problemo
Noo, i'm making like rlly short tracks for the moment now, it's like better for me cuz i don't have too much time to put into making music so i do what i can LOL
thanks man! i got that clean tone with archetype gojira
the shimmer delay effect is awesome
Ah, oke. I have one center track and two of another track panned left and right. I have also found it difficult to make them cut trough, in other words, sound clearer. Though I've had a tough time with it, even after watching countless videos. Mainly because they always have 15 + plug-ins I don't have. ๐
I've never really mixed vocals before, I'll see what I can do.
now this one sounds more like it
I was going for a Lamb of God vibe with the snare, though I kinda wish the snare could be a bit more ringy
I'll try experimenting with different snares though
I see the goal, yeah
I think it needs to be mixed in more? Maybe have some humanization one the hits themselves
I'll try
i've been studying the sound of the Ashes of the Wake album recently and i've been trying to recreate the mixing of the album

anyone know some good drum libraries for that LoG type snare besides Drums of Destruction
updates
when did the trackspacer became free?
Never, hence the 90%
Should I have said 80% to be absolutely exact?
ear fatigue
I think there is something wrong with the vocals
Maybe its a level issue? I think there's something going on in the EQ too, but I'm too lazy to fix it rn. Maybe tmr or later tn once my brain starts working again
audio driver completely shit the bed
Please check out my Screamo / Emo song ๐
Anything within the heavy areas of rock and metal even some screamo and metalcore.
I need to know if things are level.
I think you should either tune your snare down
And make drums a little bit
Idk how to say it
But
More interesting ig
Like they sound very basic
Vocals sound fire asf
Yea drums are too bland
Maybe use a better kit too like ezdrummer death metal pack
Idk what u use it sounds very basic tho
Yeah that's fair. I'm waiting on my drummer to actually write the stuff, so atm, it's my basic preset kit
Always the drummer xD
oui oui
I'll listen to your songs if you check out my new one xD
Probably will at some point today. Am in class (not paying attention)
This is actually stiff I grew up with. Killswitch meets I Killed The Prom Queen to me
The clean vox remind me of power metal and I like power metal xD
So, the chill parts are a completely different style of mixing than the aggressive parts and it's a little distracting
like the clean is wide, atmospheric and pretty smooth mix wise
once the dist guitars and vocals come in, everything becomes really mid heavy and narrow
not sure if that's a design choice but its a little weird, yknow?
The overall mix is pretty muddy?, especially when it comes to the way the vocals and guitars interact. Also need to widen the guitars
i think theyre hard panned
and yeh i wasnt mixing the instrumental with vocals in mind so makes sense lol
They sound maybe 75% imo
i dont even remember imma check rq
should i always hard pan them lol i sometimes do 70 sometimes hard idk what to pick
Hard pan is always the move
Also if youโre using any reverb, make sure to use one for each track so thereโs no bleed to the center
the entire track is panned not just the recordings
i have this on master
mono under 100hz
Do you have any pointers in Mixcraft
That's how I usually write my emo songs.
Light verse then heavy chorus / breakdown
Honestly a cross between Hawthorne Heights and Silverstein
Listen to Family of Faces by Hit With Friendly Fire on #SoundCloud

Anything within the heavy areas of rock and metal even some screamo and metalcore.
Should I redo this one?
So
I have a test song
And I want opinions
@tribal orbit @mortal dock
Got a min?
Maybe when I'm back home xd
I just went out wHEEZe
Well just in case, this is it.
switching from a 1.5mm pick to a 4mm pick was actually way more comfortable than i thought it would be
Need a big intro scream after the first guitar rift
Could be hella fun with some vocals, I agree with ABCSoup
Gives me slight 2008s metalcore era
I didnt know what I was doing. I was messing around with Arc Rabea and did some stuff with the octaver in some areas and was like "YES"
I wanna add vocals but it's incomplete as of rn and a test.
Working with a friend to see if she likes it.
How about trying to do something like Raven Age meets 2010s OM&M?
Maybe that gives you ideas
If I can play it that might not be a bad idea.
Oh that's a good point. What can't you play?
You got any hard limits?
Can you do solos? How complex can you do leads and riffs?
So, slow and more straightforward things only or letting ambience fully take over with patterns?
My solos aren't complex. Not a shredder, but I gets the job done.
I mean I can play quite a number of Tremonti songs if you count that as straightforward.
Ooo icic
I can do some tapping but that's about it for complexity lol. I can't trem pick or do legato or sweep or anything like that for the life of me.
I've tried.
Like seriously tried to learn, but riffs guide me.
Thanks man! That's a big compliment!
me when video
The feels when
@fringe geode @tribal orbit @lapis ember
CARCINOGENIC IZOTOPES, WE NEED THE A-TEAM MONTAGE
how depression would sound like
Wanna collab?
Maybe if I ever get more free, I've got 10+ projects with people that I still need to finish xdddd
Wher
I've never taken drugs, but I feel like listening to this is how taking acid would feel like, lmao
That intro is trippy
Dw I'm not great at mixing either xD
Nah am boring, no drugs, I don't smoke, I don't even drink alcohol, not even at parties lmao
I had to mix it again, it was bad, lol.

And SOAD
eugh
the drum tone is really reminiscent of AILD's Frail Words Collapse album
what drum library is that? cool wip btw
its definitely hearable, i should probably suggest you scoop the rhythm guitar's mids to let the midrange of the lead guitar come through more easily
it also helps to try adding slight amounts of delay and/or reverb to the lead to make it a bit more stereo besides also letting it be more present
update
added intro, still need outro tho
took me this long to stop being a lazy ass and get some work done
Man I would love to make music like this.
Actually I found an old project
@mortal dock
U missed what I sent earlier xd
Oh this? I totally forgot to respond to it cuz I was playin REPO but I loved it.
Like the transition from Kellin Quinn cleans to disgusting vocals was awesome.
It's like hearing 2 totally different people when it's actually the same person.
Lmaoooo, "Ah, yes, my favorite, them disgusting vocals"
Disgusting in a good way :3
Hmmm this sounds like
Like something it's on the tip of my tongue!
Oh kinda like
Picturesque-ish ?
U know em?
Nope
Omg u don't
Wait wait lemme just

Bei...
Lmao if u think Kellin has a high af voice
Wait till you've heard this fella
Kyle Hollis from Picturesque
One of my influences
I can hear the Sleeping with Sirens influence.
It's like a modern version of SwS.
He goes waaay higher tho and adds more grit
I've heard him belt a B5
Close to my highest limit
Which is more like D6
But anyways I was speaking more about your instrumentals kinda having the same "thickness" style
Though you had a bit more old school rhythm going on
I really like ur track btw it's really fire
Thickness style?
The rhythm is very bold and feels very full in the mix, there's soaring lead and added atmosphere
The sound is very rich in a lot of near pad-like texture from all the overtones
And it's very reverby
Really? I didn't add many leads that I remember o.o
I use big chords sometimes and let the high strings ring out. I guess the overtones from way I play feel very pad like lol.
Also each rhythm track was done in one take.
Like I double tracked it but it was one take.
Can't help it man I feel like tone is dead without the reverb lol.
And a lot of that thickness can be attributed to meshing a Mesa Mark sim with Parallax. So the Mesa has some oomf to the low mids while the bass supports it.
BTW I listened to the whole thing. It's like Sleeping with Sirens but more metal and less hardcore.
I feel like you could really go bolder
I like it tho it was a compliment xD
Everything I mentioned so far was stuff I liked, sure, you might adjust like -5% of all that reverb if you manage to make the tone a bit stronger, but it's not bad in any way, it's very nice actually
Yeaaaah
So I like it more hehe
It's almost Dance Gavin Dance -ish at times
Thanks brotha! Honestly there are times I don't really think about doing stuff an octave higher or reinforcing things because the things I write are very raw and in the moment. There are very few things that I've written that I'm thinking from a technical perspective. The Break the Glass stuff is very much written in the moment and loosely mixed. But all of the stuff you mentioned I will take to heart and try out!

This is one of my biggest inspirations, it's just one dude from Australia and this was off his 2nd album. His 1st album really made me pick back up the guitar at 13ish and this kicked it into overdrive.
I have a weird variety of inspirations. From Mark Tremonti's stuff in AB and his solo stuff which Alt. Metal and Thrashy, to Crush 40 which is more 80s inspired, to Rabea which is just BIG CHONKY RIFFS. Then there's PT, which I never knew what to make of.
I have way too many from a ridiculous amount of different genres
You a pop punk fan?
Punk goes pop? The series?
I like one or two songs from it
No it's a genre Pop Punk.
Think of bands like Blink-182, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, Sum41 that kind of thing.
Hm I don't like pop in general so no
It's the antithesis of everything I like lol
I like bands that have clean vocals that feel very groovy and almost poppy at times
Like Dance Gavin Dance (I love them)
But it needs to have a very powerful instrumental backbone for me to really like it
The Swan-core thing takes some inspiration from Pop Punk.
Yeah, but there's def a reason I LOVE Swancore and not the other way around

Though I tend to stick a lot to aggressive melodeath and metalcore/deathcore too. It can be either the simplistic old school, the technical over the top of the present, or the more emotional and introspective mature kinds, I can vibe with all
And some blackgaze and blackened stuff
The occasional Brutal Slam or goregrind thing too, but that's a bit more rare
Yeah I getchya. If you listen to Easycore like ADTR and Neck Deep they took heavy inspiration from it. More specifically the more aggressive bands in Pop Punk like New Found Glory or Sum41.
I don't
More on the New Found Glory side of it tho. Sum41 has HEAVY thrash metal influences and it shows on albums like Chuck.
New Found Glory took more to the post hard-core stuff like DGD did.
Damn.
Well it was a popular genre when I was a kid so I took it.
That and nu metal.
I like Linkin
That's about it
Never delved much into it. I think it's fine, but I don't go ham over it
But I liked the more aggressive side of Pop Punk that spawned Easycore (and eventually Swancore) rather than the Blink/Green Day side of it.
I was into the alt heavy rock thing
Three days Grace, RED, Skillet, Nine Lashes, Breaking Benjamin, Framing Hanley
Now, THAT was my fire childhood
RED AND NINE LASHES. Nobody EVER mentions them.
Then I switched to the metal scene
With the arrival of the peak of the Scene era
We talking og Of Mice & Men, Asking Alexandria, Bmth, Of Machines, stuff like that
Then I got into atmospheric melodic metalcore thingies, and other stuff like SEVEN and The Raven Age, then deathcore, and that opened the doorway to extreme metal and death metal. Then dipped into Swancore too. Then got into some melodeath
Black metal was one of the last I got into. Thanks to stuff like Ulver Bergtatt, Lantlรดs, Cรขn Bardd, Gallowbraid, etc
I tend to alternate between all these genres, there's a couple others but those are the main I stick to
I love em so much
I didn't really get into death metal much minus maybe early Gojira and Opeth stuff. And black metal never appealed to me at all but it was fun to laugh at it cuz it's so ridiculous. Melodeath is hit or miss but when it hits it HITS. Took me a long time to get into metalcore though, and only when djent hit did I really do a double take and eventually got into Swancore when I discovered Eidola.
The scene stuff never interested me at all. BVB, SwS, PTV, ETF, OMAM, Asking, BMTH I didn't really understand when I was young. I was so into big into the Alt Rock/Metal and Nu Metal scene with Breaking Ben, Linkin Park, Incubus, and Pop Punk with Sum41 that the scene stuff just wasn't my thing. Minus maybe Underoath.
It took me a long time to really appreciate metalcore as a genre too. I don't think I did, even after being big into djent until Spiritbox hit the scene.
You probably haven't found the right one for you
Those genres are so big you're bound to find something you enjoy at some point or another
That's very interesting
I never got much into Spiritbox
do the guitars sound a bit muffled here
heres maybe better idk, thought its missing some highs
How are these mixes/masters? Song 13 isn't done yet but I sent the 12 that we finished so far
@runic adder what dou think of the mix now
does this feel a bit dark?
@tribal orbit
This being the previous version
Gimme 5
The kick is a little out of place EQ wise, same with the snare, but the rest sounds pretty good
I'm guessing the main riff was like 2-2-0-0
?
How would I fix that
They cut through the mix a little too much, so maybe widen their eq profiles?
eh, close enough lmao
Sounds good
The guitars arenโt dark
For the kick, you could give them a little more high mid
Thinking 1.2-2K
I'm a bit iffy about this riff, any feedback would be appreciated!!
babe wake up new funny slam has dropped
"how to fuck a bitch and kick her out"
-Mr. White (2025)
random slam
Anything within the heavy areas of rock and metal even some screamo and metalcore.
I made a psychedelic rock song. Check it out plz ๐
ong
junt asf
holy cow
the drums go hard
and vocals
fucks
dont ask me for eq and shit
the idea and execution is pretty solid asf
At the moment there is no mixing at all and I am not a vocalist at all, in the final version our vocalist will sing,I sing only demo
I write instrumental usually but still thank youโค๏ธ
solid af
do u have a band?
Yes
We mostly doin Metalcore but sometimes things like that
We are a multi-genre band
your drummer can play that stuff?
OH HAHA
And bassist
and u can play those drums
In this song yes, but I'll be honest, I can't play all of our songs yet and I definitely need to improve my skills lol
I'm still torn between being a guitarist or a drummer
even playing that is a level
Oh and also our sound engineer
Guys from Germany
I'm from the Czech republic
But we don't live very far from each other
A few hours drive
hows the music scene in germany
Next month we will release 3 songs if you are interested I will be glad if you listen to them haha
yup
i will listen fosho
Hand to tell
I can only say that in the Czech Republic it is dead
my band will release an ep in april stay tuned for that
Forgive me all Czechs but 90% of Czech music is crap
Nice
ah well
What music do you do?
we're just metalcore with thrash and some indian elements (mostly in vocals)
since i dont know how to record indian instruments even tho i can play few
theyre acoustic
Interesting
Probably just a microphone, like acoustic guitar
But for this you need a good room without noise
Did I argue with someone last night about iPhones being crap and most of their product was made by Android?
Or was that a dream.
no idea bruv
Lol xD
yea well need to try
will do someday
for now we'll just add indian elements to vocals only xD
dont wanna be too bloodywood
xD
Still cool
thenks
we havent recorded any vocals yet
just written lyrics, produced tracks and practiced live
otherwise id send u my demos
(we will definitely be compared to Slaughter to prevail)
cool
indeed xD
i speak 3 languages
including english
this MIGHT be bloodywood
Some advice on how to make my vocals at the beginning sound less harsher would be appreciated
They have a lot of indian stuff in their instrumental plus their music is more towards nu metal sorta
Well I'm no mixer but I think those guitars are way too high EQ. Might need to darken them by A LOT
Hm... What are you using for the orchestra?
wanted to make a metal song but didn't have money for new strings so i made one with synths what do you think?
Well I darkened it tho
Guitars sound super bright
Compared to previous version those were brought af
How do I fix that
Uhh idunno an EQ shelf to lower all of the high range a lot maybe?
mixing and overall thall test
I love that tone
I would appreciate some feedback on the composition and riff
Latest project:
@tribal orbit @runic adder Can i get some advice on this mix?
There is no bass yet
the high end is too much, noisecore in a metal soundfont
Iโd turn down the high end on the guitars and make them a little louder
Song sounds cool though, ping me again when thereโs bass
clicky kicks
is this better?
Also is there any bass players here willing to lay down some bass for this i really don't wanna program it
mix is really harsh sounding in general
the 5k hz is painful
doesnt something like this sound better
put a soft low pass and removed a bunch of 4khz-6khz
not really a low pass just a slope down after like 1khz
maybe too low idk i did it in like 20 sec
idk
Yes actually
Iโm still learnong how to mix properly
Idrk what iโm doing so thank you
me neither XD
You got more of an idea than i do
I still have no post eq
Only individual channel eqs atm
i dont master eq in my stuff either mostly just basic stuff like limiters duh
but if something is harsh id adjust the instruments seperately until it sounds good
Do the vocsls sound fine? Iโm more worried about locking those in for this than guitsrs atm bc i feel like i can find more guitar eq turtorials than vocal ones if it comes to it
i dont really do vocals so i cant give that much help
the first scream tho is a bit irritating i cant lie
idk what could fix it
i used to have this stupid low pass on my guitars, should i remove it lol
Feels a bit bright and harsh but I do like the composition :D
Kinda clips a bit at 1:30 ish
well brightness was intended but how do i fix harshness
Well am not a mixer. The most I can really mix is super basics and vocals
But what I can say is too much brightness can cause that if u don't surgically cut a lot of EQ stuff xd
Learned that the hard way
The cymbals are really bright. Could probably do with shaving off some of the harsher treble freq
but the track is neato
About halfway done with this track (minus vocals) https://app.sessionstudio.com/studio/play/2fLxGbAew9B
I'll listen in the morning, I'm just going to bed
Aight bro
Same
(Its 6am for me)
did i fix it
@tribal orbit @runic adder could you look at this for me?
Still very bright
@tribal orbit I'm thinking ab this for the final mix does it sound good
@runic adder can you take a look too
Iโd still give the guitars more body
How so
I do have the mids turned down a bit
Lemme make the change and rip it bc i wanna start the upload tonight
What do you think of the song as a whole?
Like non production standpoint
The mix sounds fine, def good to upload
Specifically the part right before the ending breakdown
I want it to be catchy as hell
But the guitars could use more mids
Iโm hoping i caught that
Part before the breakdown sounds fine
Is it catchy
Personally not the best songwriting coach/feedback guy but Iโd say yeah
Thatโs not something I can quantify ๐ญ
Fair!
This is amp level
Lower treble and presence slightly, raise mids a bit
If you could show me the amp settings I could recommend something?
Iโm currently not in the same state as my studio so I canโt boost the mods as a demo
Sounds better
SCORE
Do you like Chameleons? I feel like one after attempting this song where there's 2 vocalists and I ended up just switching between both of them back to back lmaooo what do u think? @runic adder @tribal orbit @shut igloo
^Also gotta ping too @fringe geode @kind blaze @versed remnant
Oh and @kind blaze
I also did this other take with the music in the background what do u think? all on my phone lol
You sound really good bro i wish i could do clean singing like that tbh i suck at tit
Damn, your head voice is much better than mine
Good control (I think? Idk much about clean singing Iโm a screamer lol)
Maybe
Ah
I see
I have a much lower voice so itโs a little more difficult for me
But yea sounds good
i really enjoy this kinda stuff a lot. my adhd braincells sais APPROVED!
with the backing track your voice sounds on point bery nice
aye thanks man
peak
vreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hey everyone! Wanted to share this my band 3-piece out of New Jersey any feedback is appreciated ๐ค๐ป
https://open.spotify.com/track/6C44BEwytrj0CmFbYOnZbV?si=RveQqjVQRdq75ENQ6-D9cg
You're a legit chameleon
Love your voice
Some peak Metalcore material
With huge clean choruses fr
Lmaoooo that's glorious
Yeah maybe gonna do a full song
I've got this one from today! Idk how tf I managed to get this out of me but it happened lmao
@fringe geode @shut igloo @versed remnant
@runic adder
And here's another take with the backing music track in the background lmao
Damn
Sound really good
You're amazing dude
I don't think I know anyone who can sing as high as you
I managed to record this one too

Solid too ๐ฅ
Damn I need to learn to sing
I can scream a little bit
But I suck at cleans
And I need them cause I am doing Metalcore
That's a vibe! Space-y
The vocalist is groovin
That lead guitar part at the end is really fun too
I learned screams way before I started my clean singing training arc, so I do feel ya there xd
Hey guys, planning on releasing this song soon, any feedback on the mix?
Intrumental thall btw
i know the EXACT vibe you are going for, and im going to give you a song to give you alot more inspiration to take from ๐ญ
either way nice
giving alot of periphery and what i just sent there vibes
Very
Smash
Gahhh muddafuggin Dayum
shit hits hard yo, i also love that eerie outro part
So far I haven't had any complaints about the mix yet (at least, for thall)
the drums are snappy, the guitar hits hard while the bass gives the guitar its fatness
a lil wip metalcore project
this one's a rearrange based off Komachi's theme, "Higan Retour ~ Riverside View" from the OST for Phantasmagoria of Flower View
some parts are empty because that's where i imagine the vocals to be (can't do vocals)
neat and dark black metal ๐
don't have any feedback for the mix since black metal is supposed to be raw sounding n stuff
true
i dont even listen to black metal
lol
just had idea to did it for fun
me neither
i listen to black metal SOMETIMES but rn it's just the hi-fi sounding ones like Kanonenfieber and 1914
good riifs
same
kanonenfieber peak
yo guys any thoughts to this? im having a blockade. its fucking me up, because i think its gonna be a showstarter, the way it sounds like.
Let that swancore flow through you.
