why does the transpose effect sound wobbly on high notes

#

is it only on kemper which i use

i had kemper it was okay for rhythm like power chords but any soloing and high notes it was wobbly. i currently use a fractal fm9 it still does it but minimal

#

nice work, EQ yea as Nisse said the mids and highs, but I'm guessing that an octaver is in the play as well, if not at least octave harmonies/tracks layered over it or some other kind of working harmonies to give it that weird cool sound

Thats the big thing is the budget

#

If you have a budget of over like 3 grand or close to I recommend building a kiesel guitar tbh because then you can spec it how you want

What’s the additional perks and features of a 3k guitar compared to a 1k guitar

hexed igloo
hexed igloo
#

also they tend to come in proper flight-cases where 1k guitars might not even come with a gig bag depending on the brand

#

a lot of 1k guitars are still made in china with OEM parts and as a result they suffer, Jackson are notorious atm for offering £1200 guitars that aren't even Indonesian at the minimum

#

they also hold resale value better but ymmv based on several factors

#

like if i sold my E-II i'd get what i paid if not a bit more for it back, whereas if i sold my TOD10 i probably wouldnt even make 75% of what i paid for it

#

i wouldnt say an expensive guitar necessarily makes you play better, but they more often than not feel a lot nicer in the hands which can make them easier to play

#

the E-II neck shape is a perfect fit for my hands for 6 and 7 strings which is why im sticking with ESP nowadays, whereas a few years back i was an ibby diehard

#

jurys out on 8s though, I have an ormsby and it feels nice but i've never tried a skerv or mayones or aristides 8

bitter yew
#

Yeah I really only know esp, artistided and ormsby when it comes to above 2k price tag

#

Ive never tried them out. So when it comes to guitars I’ve tried / play / own. I feel like Ernie ball is the best I’ve ever touched lol

hexed igloo
#

ernie ball are good but they're def above my price lol

#

if im paying over around 3kish i'd much rather just wait and save for a custom model

Time for some fire in here - never in the history of ever have these blocky guitars looked good or cool in any way, no matter if it´s a flying V, this star/thunder type shape or this. Tastes differ and that´s alright, but holy shit are these ugly to me.

#

Guys is it true that the VII mode in the Mesa Mark VII sounds just like a Rectifier and nothing like, new-sounding at all?

#

I hope not.

#

Okay fine I'll spill the beans if you want to know about it, there's a lawsuit going on between myself and my old school and if I win it I have a good shot at getting enough money for a Mark VII.

#

Yea, I'm suing my old college.

#

You do not want to know the details. It's actually really horrid what they were doing and I depleted all other options.

hoary vector
#

Go me the mark v or jp2c sound better than the vii. Mark iv pretty good too just i prefer the other 2 mesas.. your best bet would be trying the vii out

heady quartz
#

I wouldn't use a IIC+ or equivalent.

#

I mean, technically the Extreme channel is IIC+ preamp into a modern poweramp without the feedback component but it's a much tighter modern sound that other Mark series amps just don't have.

hoary vector
#

I like iic+ which is why I favor jp2c alot

heady quartz
#

IIC+ didn't suit me very well. Way too grainy for my liking.

#

The V Extreme fared much better. The only caveat is that it takes forever to dial properly but once you get there it's all the relief in the world.

#

Didn't like the IV very much either. Sometimes the IV mode can provide decent tones, but it's far more finicky than the Extreme channel.

#

I just didn't like the feedback component they added just for the classic modes. All the more why if I ever obtain a Mark VII I'd use it solely for the VII mode just because it doesn't have the feedback component. Might be a different story with live but.

hoary vector
#

Hmm then I'm not sure. I usually find the jp2c/iic+ pretty smooth I do boost 240 fader higher than the 2200 and I use a dark cab mix which may reduce the graininess

heady quartz
#

I do have a boost pedal so I should be set as far as getting a high gain tone with the VII goes.

hoary vector
heady quartz
#

Actually I'm trying to get myself out of the digital market and go straight to real amps.

#

Really sick of having to rely on software that crashes an awful lot.

hoary vector
#

I use dark irs/cabs because mesa can be a pretty bright amp so it tames it or smoothens it out but retains the punch I like

heady quartz
#

DSP can do so many things really well, but distortion isn't one of them.

hoary vector
heady quartz
#

Even on the Extreme channel with balanced IRs I would still dial the treble pretty high.

#

The IIC+ was just more scuffy and didn't maintain its chunk. The Extreme channel didn't have this problem and had a punchier tighter sound while still maintaining enough gain to cut through and still sounded amazing even with all that treble dialled in.

heady quartz
#

I mean, I would still use an IR loader but as far as distortion and actual amp portion of it goes I would still rather switch to something that doesn't use DSP. Even a Loudpedal would've done it.

#

And I don't even use any reverbs/delays, I keep my tone pretty bare bones.

#

A good sounding amp, a good sounding IR, and that's it as far as my ideal setup is concerned.

hoary vector
#

U tried a friedman hbe I find those really have a nice punch and aggressiveness. Which is why I mix both the Mesa and it

hoary vector
heady quartz
#

...

#

Welp, going to have to sleep on all this until I find out how much I'm getting out of that lawsuit.

balmy vortex

you cant go nylon strings cuz the pickup wouldnt be able to make an electrical current

Well, still proly gonna do that when I have enough money. Cuz I've seen how good nylon electrics can sound through some distortion

balmy vortex
#

id recommend going standard steel with piezo instead of limiting yourself to a nylon

livid seal

Why's that?

balmy vortex
#

pickups can become a lot tighter while the piezo still gives you the acoustic sound

For some reason, even tho ive never personally tried it, I really dislike it, at least I've never heard it to sound good, no matter who plays it LMAO + Ive seen this particular schecter 7 string get suggested the least, id say the Omen Elite 7 is probably better, it's definitely solid at least. If you got a bit more budget then a lot of people suggest the Sunset Extreme as well, but atp you could buy a Cort KX707 with an evertune, a killer guitar.
