Nice. Good job
soon i will be unstoppable
Sweeping is pretty easy change my mind... It's mostly mostly left hand work and a tad bit of right hand.
perhaps
in concept it's fairly simple
in practice some people may not have the same level of dexterity when they start out
Yea just dexterity points
all my points are in sarcasm
Yeah its easy, but since its very technique based it just takes practice to get the muscle memory right
and the leftovers are in strength
It's just the same 4 patterns and you can break them down...
Also I'm about to get told to put my phone away, yet I don't have any work to do 0_0
It even depends on the arpeggio's you sweep. Sometimes I have to play a sequence of shapes Im not used to and no matter how 'good' and 'clean' my sweeps tend to be...it takes practice
Yea if you are doing inversions or really weird chords it can get interesting
And generally now I just use hybrid and swybrid picking instead of sweeps
I'm trying to get better at hybrid I was good at it then stopped playing fingerstyle so need to play more
i didn't delete anything, idk why they were deleted
the issue is that my pinky refuses to arch over the 1st string and mutes it when I'm making a ring finger bar
I can do bar chords just fine which is why this in particular was perplexing
and my pinky seems naturally inclined to move down a fret for some reason
I'm just curious how is your pinky when you rest your hand closed, I think mine slants in for some reason
it takes considerable effort to straighten it
Same deal
maybe I'm just stupid then
have you access to a guitar
i still need help understanding this chord
My thumb also does this though
When I get home I'll see if I can send a picture of how I would do it
the issue is my pinky refuses to raise without lifting my bar
or arch
or it's like wanting to go to the 12th fret because the little shit is slanted that way
Send a picture? I'll send how it's done once I'm home
i won't be home for like 10 hours lol
was just curious if anyone could offer more information
I'll send a picture that's the best I could do or a vid
yeah that'd help, and absolutely no rush
I'm walking home now... so
Than you need to practice some pinky dexterity. Its very doable
Shit I think I need to as well š¤£
I can do it but took me a second to figure that out.
Theres maybe an easier way
I am trying some other stuff, it's just a weird shape doable but just weird
Index on 10th. Bar 12th with middle finger like a powerchord...ring finger 12th on high e and pinky on the 13th on B
This also works muting the A string playing with the octaves, but I don't think it's easier
Its a different chord
Same notes
Oops wrong place for the ring
But doing it that way use the octave mute the one string then doing the rest

That price though š°
Not helping the string spacing on this is larger
This is the best way.
What song is it?
creamsicle sunset by Steve Vai, check it out i think you'll like it
Ah yes
it's also ridiculously easy except for that one chord
dont think I've heard that one I'll listen when I get a chance
You able to get the chord now?
Oh ya
anyways listen to the song, it's nice
It is
If I have a good cab would a orange micro dark be good?
I donāt know what Marshall cab I got but itās pretty good
Do you know the Ohms on your cab?
No
Decided to get back into learning songs by ear again. I forgot how fun it can be
Niceeee
Send a picture of the front and back if you can?
Iām thinking 16 based on my research
That amp can power it says 8-16 so you might be able to use it.
Hell yeah then I wonāt have to sell my Xbox
Make sure to order from somewhere that has a good return policy just incase as well.
Iām gonna need my whole band to take my cab off the speaker rack we got things fucking huge
Maybe I wonāt get that one because if somebody back lines of crappy cab, then Iām going to have a crappy sound
Any recommendations for one under $500
Head
Head
Ok, how much watt we want?
He has a Marshall cab he said it's probably 16 Ohms
Not sure about wattage
Under $500 correct?
So the amp is 16 ohms and the cabinet? Some cabinets have a switch or two inputs
Yeah but how much watt you want your amp to be?
Cab I said amp like an idiot

2 speakers? 4 speakers?
4
Iām just thinking of some thing thatās going to be good universally
Because I rather not carry the cab every show
Besides some venues are super bitchy on time over here
So you want a 2 speaker or 1 speaker cab then?
My cab has 4
Lol geez...Id just invest into more practical gear if you play a lot
He's looking for an amp
What the heck im lost
A head
Ah oke
Amp head
I donāt need a cab I already got one
No to Katana for live performance from me
Ah
Ohhhhhh okay I see now
Especially if you play hi gain stuff
Yeah mostly heavy chuggy shit
Look for a peavey or marshall secondhand maybe
Or an Engl if you can
Mesa is gonna be tough for that price
Oh god an ENGL???? Those things arenāt cheap
They are about 2000 here..so dont know second hand price
I always kept my fender tube amp but itās not good live my uncle always said it would be but it wasnāt
Boss, Orange, and even the Boss Katana are good for the pricing theyāre in (under $500)
Hughes and kettner
And now itās humming a lot I cranked the shit out the volume
I think thatās meant for like rock music not hardcore lol
I just wouldnt use any digital amp that isnt a proper modeller
Uhm try the tubemeister
I bought a DI box so I could run a digital setup but Iām worried about the practicality with that
Some venues like DIY venues donāt like digital which is silly
Cause they dont understand how to run the cabling. Other than that its just the same for FOH
Itās easy af lol
Just make sure you dont bug em with the set up
Usually means their sound guy doesnāt know what heās doing if thatās the case lol
Yeah
So should I just say fuck it and run with the digital setup
It did work the one gig I used with it
Most venues love bands showing up with their quad cortex or fractal
^ bingo
Depends on your digital set up
Ah yes, so...the problem I see occuring for live settings like that is latency
If your sound source is a plugin from the laptop
Its possible and tone wise its great but its not super convenient
I think if thats the case its better to save. Dont even need to be that much but for about 800 you open a lot of options
Maybe just bring my fender as a backup and they mic it up or maybe I can contact the venues sound guy and ask about my setup before hand
Yeah you can always inform about the backline
Perhaps you can get a digitech gsp1101 somewhere for cheap. With the community updates its a pretty good digital modeller
Shouldnt cost you more than 300 nowadays if you can find it
Not really
Its more a digital processor with digitalized amp modellers, not a profiler like a quad cortex
Its more like a line 6 helix or a fractal
But older and not as good.
Ah
Brand new EHB1005MS
looks expensive
i wonder what the body tastes like
Great color
Very very nice

Syn gates?
Music Mans do make people's wallets cry
Had to look up who you where referring to, never really listened at all.
FamilyJules? John Browne? Aaron Marshall?
Fair enough he's the main person that got people into Schecter with his signature model and being in Avenged
Aaron yes
Other two no, the john sig has a similar name to me though
What about Dan Donegan and Keith Merrow?
that has to be a made up name theres no way
Dan Donegan is Disturbed's guitarist, and Keith Merrow is a fuckin legendary YouTube metal guitarist, one of the OGs.
No and no
RIP.
Cant really get me to like schecter at all... The other musicans who use them aslo tend to not listen much.
Okay okay, I got one more....Nick Johnston.
Do not listen much but appreciate the work
Damn
I dont listen to much nowadays just a few artists they will come and go but i find my place for now
found
You has Arch Echo in your playlist. Based.
Where?
I do not believe I do I usually am good with knowing whats on my lists.
Don't just leave me here WHERE
@open fjord???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Woops sorry lol. Was in class, I mistook it. It was actually in your recommendations based on the playlist.

I'd recommend Arch Echo though. They proggy bois with Adam Bentley in it.
I do sorta like their sound just not used to it yet
They're like DT mixed with Plini and a tiny bit of Intervals.
Yea, I looked them up after you mentioned. I'll keep listening see if I get into them
that is the kinda name the disturbed guitarist would have
alright fair's fair you win this round
I also recommend Earthside if you haven't heard them already.
Haha! Point for Chao!
Something I've been waiting around for
I go to movies now later
Peace
Well we are the only two in here so we might have gotten a theater to ourselves
Oh shit niceeee
Damn for good reason this movie is mega fucked up
worked well
hadnt thought of using the ring on the first string making a bar w/middle finger
Thanks to Don and some other guys I was talking to it was concluded to be the best
whatchu watchin nephew
The first omen
It's new...
any good?
I personally enjoyed it a good bit
horror i assume
Yea something like that
word i'll keep it in mind
Good idea seems like it's going to have more to the story come out
i bought a 7 string thinking it would be enough but now its not enough
i need another string
mostly just the one note
im in between 300 different songs right now, of these which should i commit to and eventually cover:
creamsicle sunset - vai
silvera - gojira
5th caprice - also vai i think
tornado of souls - megadeth
just looking for opinions
Pretty cool list. My opinion would be creamsicle sunset first and subject it to some theoretical analysis as well. It works through several inversions of some very stamdard chords amd it will significantly extend your vocabulary
Tornado of souls is great as a technical exercise. A very decent picking hand workout and the solo is of course great for fretting hand dexterity and overall gaining insight on how to build up a great shredding solo
I love Gojira, but Silvera doesnt have a lot to make you a better player. Thats how I generally go about determining my time investment
Add a high string, or get a pitch shifter.
A local pawnshop has a Ibanez SHRG1Z that they say is a not working guitar but it is only selling for $100 and Iām pretty sure itās that like $20,000 guitar bernth has and if I remember right, the pick up Scott swapped for Fishman fluence moderns so should I buy it because there is a good chance the battery on the inside is dead and thatās why it is ānot functioningā
Buy it and fix it?
Don't waste time telling us haha, go grab that thing.
They open in two hours and Iām taking it to my local luthier to see if anything is wrong internally
It could just need new pots... I mean $100 either way isn't a lot. Check the serial number make sure it's real, if it is buy it.
Great idea
If anything is wrong, he has two rooms of storage in his house, strictly for guitar parts
Good point even if it isnāt real, though Iām still keeping it for myself
Yep, I wish you could bring it to the shop I work at, I'd love to see it.
Fair enough
That's super cool find though
I had the opportunity just to feel the neck and stuff, and it is definitely a very thin C with what I can only describe as a flattened part that follows where your thumb should go if youāre not using the Hendrix grip
Yea I like the wizard necks... To bad it doesn't have the original pickups as well hopefully they didn't route a battery slot into it for them.
once there was a great deal I saw on an Ibanez jem then realized it was fake and didn't get it
Yep, lots of fakes
I could probably make a decent looking fake in a week or so with my friends paint and wood shops.
chocolate filled guitars because we're tired of eating plain ones
when im older and have money I'll make a more easily edible guitar
Cooking and charing the wood you can most definitely just eat the carbon
Update: the hidden 9v battery was dead and itās fully functioning, the pickups are the fishman fluence Scott Lepage custom series, and it is the real deal just I never saw the finish in any of the photos
You buy it?
Yes
Nice
I left it at my friend James the luthierās house for him to give it a set up and refret everything past the 6th because they got a little bit fucked
Nice
Itās not with me so I canāt take a photo right now, but this is what they had posted online
I'm incredibly happy for you and jealous at the same time
Finally took down the Marshall and uh Iām confused itās a older model I believe
Iām confused cause I thought youād have to plug it into a outlet
silvera for me is practicing tapping
i share a similar idea of learning songs to improve as a guitarist
Do cabs not need power? I never had a cab
the power comes from the amp
also my tone for heavy shit, knocked loose in paritcular, got a lot better suddenly just by adding new heavier strings and using a 2.0 pick
just find out whether your cab is 8 or 16 ohms so you dont blow somthing up
but tbh it took 5 minutes and i already almost have it down
im just trying to learn to tap with the pick
A cab needs a load. That load comes ohms and pretty much if your cab doesn't have that, then it's not gonna work properly.
That's why frfr cabs are so nice. Because you can plug in your computer or modeller of choice and not have to worry about that.
His is supposedly 16 Ohms he had mentioned so just needs an amp to drive that.
Nevermind what I said I just saw the video
So I need one thatās 4 ohms or 16?
And I was asking before dose it not plug into like the wall does the head just drive all the power to it?
I will answer in the morning if no one else has. My meds are wearing off and I'm acting really really stupid so I don't want to day anything dumber.
Iām a noob when it comes to gear lol been using di most my guitar playing
We all got to start somewhere :)
Nice, its a cool song either way.
As in using the plectrum to tap the string or hiding the pick to tap and hybrid pick?
For Silvera its the first option

What tuning are they using?
Iām thinking about selling my twin reverb fender even though it was handed down to me so it seems fucked up but i really rather have like a peavy 5150 or somethingās twin reverb isnāt made for deathcore / slam beatdown shit
But it seems a little shitty if I sell it
I mean...its 'just' a fender twin
Who gave it to you/passed ot down?
My uncle
Feels shitty mostly cause he passed so I feel like itās like wrong to sell something that was kinda his
im thinking about buying pedals. Which one should be first? Im playing metal/deathcore btw and i have a shitty amp
Id buy a shitty pedal to match the shitty amp
multivoicer
trust
chorus maybe
Quad cortex
Depends what you want to do, if you want any midi controllers will pedals digital... so many things to think about with pedals.
I'd say start with a noise gate, distortion and some sort of maybe EQ.
But first looking to get a good amp and cab, or setting up a rack.
Are you selling it to get money for something else or just to get rid of it?
For money towards a peavey

What tuning is 3:47
Doesn't matter much gotta just play the right notes...
As long as you can play the lowest and the highest note then you can play it, just need to find the notes.
I am asking because I wanna experiment with what tuning sheās playing in
Ah... I mean they are just playing mostly power chords on the bottom 3 strings from the sounds of things who knows what tuning, could be just D or E standard
If you were to sell it maybe sell it to family? Could there be people that want to learn guitar?
And if not maybe suggest they do
drop d probably
It was would be easier if she made tabs for it. It sounds sick
just got a stroke from reading that. no offense
Oof
I am basically partially tone deaf. Like I can tell if notes are higher or lower but I canāt sing
it was the "was would be easier if she" that part aint making sense and i dont remember fluff identifying as female either
you're good tho
I am talking about the artist not talking about Fluff
Her
question for y'all: when it comes to baritone guitars, does tuning lower need a longer scale length than it would for standard guitars?
i.e. my buddy in my band is looking at a baritone jackson with a 26.5" scale, if he tunes to drop G to match my guitar will it be fine or does it need longer than that cause it's a baritone
It's just a tension game... you could get drop G on a 26.5 just fine with the right strings. It depends how thick he wants his strings and what the tension will be.
yee i think
it's hard to put into words but my concern is like
with a standard 7 string guitar, with 25.5" scale length drop g becomes muddy because the scale length is short
but with a baritone 7 string, the scale length is longer naturally, so my question is does that mean that you'd have to get an even longer baritone 7 to account for a low tuning?
or am i overthinking
The 26.5 will work with like a 70 gauge string for the low G
27 or 27.5 or even 28 would be the best, though.
where is it
I need a cheap baritone eventually just to experiment
Cancer by the devil wears prada (yes ik i need a new cable)
And yes its recorded on my phone
A cab is just a speaker at the end of the day so the head/power amp drives the power to it via the speaker cable
LMAO I usually spam Quad Cortex just because
Most people asking for an opinion will only listen to the answer that confirms to their bias therefore will disregard 99% of good advice. So why waste time.
š¤£
Hehe ya, you mentioned that. Me being in the DSP server constantly now as well is improving my views on pedals and a lot of really nerdy aspects of things...
I don't participate much in there. Only when I thought I had an issue with my QC and they were like bro, don't turn your power amp on until the QC has fully booted up.
I've enjoyed it goof for asking questions lots of information I have foudn
Some of the guys are nut heads though
Get deep enough into a community and you're bound to find them
Hence why I float now instead of getting bogged down in things
actually im a bolthead
no nuts here
For sure, I tend to just ignore them or not give in... The ones I do talk to tend to be very knowledgeable.
Makes sense
Now to sell my kidney for a good head
Or hope my digital setup will be enough for now
Then there's Xander Raymond Charles with his 30 inch baritone Squire Jazzmaster.
Well yes
My pickup has been shipped as of yesterday

Nice have fun
Home made 8 string
How are those pickups? Is that the Bexgear kit or something else?
Enjoy
Ive been playing through Neurals Tone King and Morgan for a while...probably best sounding amp plugins ever made.
Okay, quick question: Am I the only one who“s been having issues with their focusrite interface recently? Since like a week or so whenever I open my NDSP plugins, it refuses to aknowledge the focusrite and no matter what doesnt want to register it as the input device until it sometimes at some point does....
shit“s annoying af
All your drivers up to date?
as far as I know, yeah, should be
Issue with usb cable?
It is bexgear, and the pickups sound fine, neck came pre finished too, only issues is the screw holes arnt deep enough so you have to re drill them
Nice
Think nameless X is any good?
Thats just the old Nameless with some of the new features right?
I haven't looked if they changed any amps yet
So than I can say its alright. Just another high gain amp which is completely useless if you already have Nolly for instance
Well...its based on the Fortin Nameless so I dont think they change amps š
Probably not but tweaks sometimes happen.
So its the blackout (nameless) amp
I just want something completely new from Neural DSP.
Most of the archetypes, outside of some gimmicks are too similar
Granophyre? Or maybe thats the other Slipknot bloke. So I dont know
Nameless, Granophyre, Nolly, Fortin Cali....almost enirelt interchangeable lol
Granophyre barely has cleans
So maybe its another?
Yeah, but than I prefer to use an actual clean sound myself.
I guess
Ohh
Since I have Nolly I dont use any of the high gain suites
I only use NDSP sometimes since i record with a mic and an amp
Ah yeah, I dont use an amp for recording, tho I think its actually still a nicer way to go
So usually i end up just using my EPB
@gritty garden im debating getting one of these or all three
Only one that stands out to me is the pink one
If I were to get a V shape guitar it would be the Arrow series from ESP.
i've been going on an off with V's and I wanna take the plunge that's mainly why that's there
The Arrow's felt too bulky last time I tried them but its been a while i'll look into them
Pink as well
I hate explorers and Vs
personally I like the v or pink
I also think the explorer in combination with that headstock looks quite good
Not big on V's

i still want one of those pedals tho
for the meme
Ikr haha
new amp today yippee
Concert day
hey i got a question for knowledgeable people
so this head says its outputting 4 ohms into the cab
but on peaveys site it says the cab is 16 ohms
i wanna put my orange head into the peavey cab, but i dont wanna blow up the peavey cab bc the orange outputs 8 or 16
I'm having an absolute stroke reading this...
So the cab is rated for 16 ohms and you are "underpowering" it with a 4 ohm head if anything it comes down to impedance as I don't think it's SS?
Typically just match the amp and cab ohms, just don't go over the 16 ohms.
Just check to make sure the impedance and power outputs are compatible
the amp came with the cab plugged in at 4 ohms
and theres a big mark with red sharpie on the amp on the 4 ohms part of the switch
rn if i turn the volume up to 2 you can hear it throughout the house
Rule is: higher ohm amp into lower ohm cab = a problem. Vice versa isnt
You can select impedence to 16 ohm
The stock cabinet may in fact be 16 ohms, but what I'd be worried about is if the previous owner swapped out the old speakers in the cabinet. So check those BEFORE changing the inpedance select on the amp head.
Does anyone know what tuning Stephen Carpenter uses for āBe quiet and driveā on his seven string live? On a six string itās drop C# but I donāt think he plays double drop C# on the seven
Is it not mentioned on the play through on his channel?
Not what i can see atleast
though it looks like he plays it the same ways as you would on a six
that's what I figure
later today I'll open the back and see what's inside
but also like I said, with the volume above 1.5-2, it hurts my ears bc it's so loud
so idk if it can take any more ohms
Then why bother? Thinking about boosting the impedance
This is why for most home settings, without an attenuator 100W Valve Amps are not really feasible š¤£
Yep
I mean I have a 20W tube combo and it blows out so much volume
I got no idea why it's so loud but it kicks
Great live for small venues
Yes... Just I have played the same amp but the 50W and it was much softer, I think my buddy played with it but not sure

This about magnetic pickups?
Nah. Wiring harnesses.
what's an attenuator
idk anything abt all this that's why I'm asking here
how would I boost the impedance of the speakers
Idk I'm not talking about your speakers
What you bought isn't any use for bedroom playing, will be good for if you ever gig.
Basically it's a load box so it takes 100% of the load from the amp head, so you can drive it at max or where it needs to be, but then it scales that volume down to the cabinet.
So basically a fancy Master Volume switch
That allows you to drive the tubes of the pre and power amp in the head, but then you can control the volume of it
An example of some https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkMgQbcTOM8
Ever wanted that valve amp sound and feel at a volume that won't trouble the neighbours? Well you're in luck as these days there are plenty of solutions in the form of attenuators and small monitor speakers! | https://tinyurl.com/2zy4dkp5

I love the two notes system
For home use, 5 watt tube amps are even quite loud
Yea
it still sounds fine, and I can get louder volumes without much complaint from family. i was wanting to put the head from my orange combo into the 4x12
but that puts 8-16 ohms
can't do 4
Yep, well doesn't hurt to try
if the cab is 4 I could blow something up though right
the speaker the orange currently has is a 16ohm 60 watt speaker
but it can do down to 8
You said the cab was 16, as phrost said just check if it's the original speakers
yeah that's what the website says, I'll check when I'm home from church
sidenote I said I don't wanna go to church and my parents make me go anyways
It should be fine I don't expect if someone was to tinker with it to drop it down to something super low, as well if so you can get new cones and all that
One reason why if I was getting a head I'd get a Rockerverb as last time I checked it was one of the few amps that came with an in built attenuator.
That seems neat
Hence why I got a QC, was more user friendly and a lot more portable especially if taking me guitar places.
Anyone have advice for how to get a really good modern metal tone with ndsp nolly? It sounds ok but i feel like i can do better
Yea, the QC and what they are doing is super impressive
Since they're doing all the X plugins, they'll be transferable to the QC soon.
Yep
Currently I believe Plini X is the only one who has that function turned on.
With the new update that should be coming soon I think they have been talking about the addition of more
Possibly, especially with the release of Nameless X and soon Soldano X which they said would be coming this year too.
I don't keep up with the QC as I don't own one yet... Just the plugins
Yea
I wish I had a QC, but I got a lot of gear to sell currently and sadly, it's a bit of a buyers market atm.
It sure is
Plus my Blackstar needs to be fixed before I can do anything with it.
I plan to get a QC once I can start playing live so hopefully soon for small bar gigs.
Then going to build a board around the QC
I've basically given up playing live. My band had the opportunity long ago and they missed it.
Plus living in NY, not exactly the best place for it. Plus my band has long since broken up and while we're still close friends. We all listen to different things now and have our own lives.
I'm currently looking to just play with bands that want another person for gigs
Ah ya that's hard
Yeah. There ARE venues and I do miss playing with other people. But at the same time I have no desire to deal with band politics ever again.
I'm basically just a gremlin at this point with a guitar who does dumbass recordings lololol.
I'm waiting till college, rather get whipped with guitar strings then try to manage a band with high-schooler stoners and bumms.
That's great
That's the thing. Our band weren't stoners or bums or anything.
I'll put it this way. I'm not a lead boi. I'm a riffy boi. But I used to be really bad back then and I brought in other members to make up the difference because I was musically a little stunted. Unfortunately that didn't go too well and the great thing we had with three members became a headache with others.
I brought in a lead guitarist, and a keyboardist/singer (who left a few months later). So we still had no singer and by that time, when we did find one, we became a revolving door of bassists, because our og one left.
:
Yea it's such a hard thing to balance out and get perfect sucks that happened for you guys.
I'm am just doing online band stuff as it's the easiest for now hope to play live someday with a solid band.
Yeah. I am still musically a little stunted, but my playing is so much better than it was.
I wish ya the best with online band stuff! That's gotta be even harder.
It's funny my grade 5 band was the most organized and solid sounding band I've ever been in
We practiced 3 times a week for like 6 hours it was a really cool Ska band
You know what's even weirder. I was in the same band from Grade 7 til my senior year in HS. Me and the drummer were the only consistent members lololol.
I find it personally a lot easier we can just record and send files online and build that way... That's why we practice, I took a listen to your little clip it sounded good.
I always find drummers are pretty consistent
The band I had was great went for 2 years but then people started moving it was a 9 person band so not to surprised it didn't work out at that younge age but we performed a lot
Thanks! When the double kick comes in, that part is hard.
It sure is
I meant like hard to play cuz of how fast I gotta alternate pick.
Plus there's those two notes played on the D string with the chugs on the low E that are downpicked. I did not make it easy for myself lol.
Oh
Still sounds good š
Thanks!
I showed it to one of my friends that doesn't listen to metal and he was like "damn how pissed off were you?" I told him I wasn't, I was having fun.
Embodying Nik's Motto of doing Fun Metal Things xD
You know you are doing something right when people think the music sounds pissed
Hell yeah!
Btw I grew up in the era of Nu Metal and Pop Punk so Riffs for me are life.
Give me a big ass bouncy riff and I'm happy.
This is something I messed around with thoughts on it? I now just daily will mess around with it finding new ways to use it.
I like it. It's got a bit of a pop punk start and then goes full 80s with it which is kinda cool.
Yea it was some fun bored riff, I found I like it better with way less gain
It's cuz u have more clarity. More gain means you have less clarity and some more control.
Yea for sure, there is one tone I found and I want to figure out how to get it. I'll find the video
Guitar - Bom Nuttee
Bass - Phacharat Phoolphol
Drum - Veerawat Patarawilairoj
Mix&Master - Phacharat Phoolphol

Thank you for watching
#Bareknucklepickups #Polymath
I really like this sorta tone
It's got plenty of gain but sounds so shiny
Well for one, the Polymath is not a high output pickup, it's a less hot than you think. In speaking with Nolly (yes I've spoken with Nolly over forums before), the Polymath is very smooth and more polite than BKPs other pickups, even compared to Rabea's pickup the Silo which Nolly had a hand in making. But that's what makes it a great all rounder.
The 2nd thing is messing with IRs. Find the one that is best suited for what your looking for. The amp also helps too. Finally that probs has a lot of post processing going on.
Oh so much most post processing.
once I get my polymath (maybe 3 more days till it gets here) I'm going to be trying to get that exact tone with plugins... I need to play with more IRs I haven't gotten to it at all
I'm so excited to try out a BKP in general and the polymath just mm
You're getting polymaths? Niceeee. I got Cold Sweats. Haven't put em in yet.
Just a single polymath, for the bridge in my Start. Probably getting reabes singles for the middle and neck
Oh the Triptychs?
Yea
I think that's what I will do, but I might do something more modern and less dynamic I'm not sure yet
The Triptychs are nice cuz they have a copper plate on the bottom of them that boosts the signal on them and makes them louder without making them hotter and losing dynamic range.
Yea, just not sure if I want the dynamics or not yet, lots of thinking
My digital setup worked!
I setup my laptop on one of the bands cab setup my interface into the di box into the pa and guitar into the interface
And it sounded pretty good
I think I couldāve been a bit louder but itās fine
this is the wiring on the cab
I got it with an amp with red sharpie marking 4ohms, I assume it should stay there
but idk anything abt wiring
is this cab 16ohms or 4
there may be minor issues on my diagram idk
orange is white wire
rest of the colors accurate to the cab
should I change the amp impedance to 16 or leave it at 4
and is it safe to put my orange which says 8 or 16 or 2x16 into it
that amp currently has a 1x16ohm
Parallax X and Nolly X are next, Gojira X and Plini X added to QC
Yep, super awesome new, as well with SLO X man it's amazing
nolly x will be nice
Yep, that's game over I'll be happy
I already got my plugins for all my needs now just need a few X updates
maybe they'll finally add presets to it
not that i need them at this point
i've got two decent rhythm tones and a great lead tone
Yea
pitch shifter is whatever, glad it's there but don't want to use it
doubler can be useful unless im playing songs that have different L/R rhythms like trivium does
It's nice for E standard to D standard but yea
I like +12 semitones and make random sounds haha
Really dirty palm muting pitched up with delay and shimmer reverb sounds very neat.
if i knew how to use automation i could probably vildhjarta the fuck outta it
Haha ya, I plan to do that some day
still a lil loopy after that guy compared one of my demos to mirar
but now i wanna try and make some dumbass thall song because a small part of my brain gets tickled funny when the noises
anyone help
wish i knew buddy
That's up to you, why not try it see what it's like if you don't like it you can just change it
idk I don't wanna fry anything
im too poor for repairs
Well if everything is stock you will be fine, if something breaks you can send them an email saying they made garbage and need to fix it
i got both used
i was just wondering if someone could figure out the wiring
to find the ohms it has
Seems like they are 16 ohms so you should be good, from that end, unless any other circuits where messed with
Do you know the rated power per speaker?
Yes
You should be fine
ill search, it's the Peavey supreme xl
Just run it at 8 if that's fine then 16
I don't see it not being able to handle your amp with what you have noted
I don't think they would sell them together if they don't work together
ok
another concern
the volume is ridiculous above 2 rn
will putting 16 fromcthe amp worsen that
That goes back to what phrost was talking about
I can find an ok volume, but does higher impedance mean higher volume
There shouldn't be any real change it's mostly tonal
The orange will be perfectly fine
If it is a lot louder you can just turn it off and change it back
Just run tests whole fun of it
Try the orange see if you like it, I like orange amps I usually run one into a two notes system
my parents were away for a bit and i was able to crank the volume for fun
my ears are ringing a bit but that shit was fun asf
worth being deaf
No ear pro?
I usually crank my stuff and wear ear pro as it's fun to feel it all.
im not cranking it that high
Gotta crank it over at least halfway when you are home alone
i mean my sister was here so...
if its way too loud she'll complain
Oh :/
but i cant get it much louder than my parents let me without complaining
basically
their bedroom is adjacent to mine
and they hang out there, watch tv and stuff a lot
my sisters room is down the hall
so she hears it less than them
Looks like it's wired Series-Parallel so 16 Ohms should be fine. I'm not an expert though, just what I could deduce from quick searches online. If you know a guitar/amp tech in the area then I'd ask them to take a look to be 100% sure.
alr ty
yeah I looked through this, rewrote it down to match the context of my cab and it's the same
used different colors for wires but same idea

Yep this channel can be suited for that sort of discussion. What are you wondering?
I picked up guitar this year and im having some trouble learning how to pinch harmonic, specifically im having issues finding a good visual representation of how to do one
i was hoping someone had either a short video with how to do it or a link to one
I had a good feeling this would be the question it is a hard technique to get at first.

thank you ill check them out
Ok, the videos are quite helpful, my household is asleep at the moment and my wife would divorce me if i hooked up the amp, so ill try to tomorrow lol

should I take a break from big complex songs like cliffs of dover and ynwgie for simple enjoyable riffs
Yes and no do both and lots of practical practice
see the issue is most days I haven't got more than an hour to practice
Make a routine
Depends what you are trying to learn and if you are enjoying.
Generally for covers enjoyment is what matters as its not full fledged practice which tends to be a bit boring and therefore has to be efficient
Make a routine that splits them out to target multiple things e.g.
Warmup
Exercises
Existing Songs
New Song
@lethal fractal I got it a few times, its inconsistent at the moment but its a WiP
Amazing, that's how we all start it's hard to get it consistent at the beginning but you will learn where it rings out the best

NGD! Ormsby Hype 6 GTR. Been my dream for 3 years š
All it needs is a pickup swap and proper setup for Drop F# (blegh)
I think a 27.8" scale length and mammoth slinkys can take it
Also this makes me legit sad because I go to my local one all the time
my amp sounds much happier and less on the verge of exploding now that ive fixed the impedance to 16 ohms
instead of 4
Indeed...going to your local guitar store, whatever it may be, is always a treat because you actually get to try the guitar you wanna get.
Or discover and try new guitars in most cases
Yeah. THough Kyle did make a point to say there probably will be a rise in smaller mom and pop stores since the big guys like Sam Ash and Guitar Center are failing.
I have seen and bought from LOTS of smaller stores on Reverb
Yeah. There will probably be more. It just kinda sucks for me cuz I live in NY, so there aren't very many of them if at all.
Specifically NYC, which sucks even harder.
Thank god not in Manhattan though lol.
Yeah I'm in CT. Sam Ash is the only store in a 50 mile radius besides an alright store in town that can still give me good setups and repairs but not a quarter of the inventory.
Yipee, two guitar centers!
I did go to one for the first time before a concert at MSG, cool platinum room stuff but they treat their gear like shit.
And anything "new" is very good at best because you can bet at least 10 people a day play it
The one on 14th in Manhattan right?
Yeah
They had a cool Schecter in a grey with red burst
I forget the model name but its a real limited one
like 3-4k
still if I bought it from em I'd go somewhere else for a setup
Yeah. All the guitars I've bought and kept were ironically, from Sam Ash.
Mostly because GC don't setup their guitars too well, and when they do it's either a fluke, I'm tired and I wanna try a guitar, or I'm high asf.
Which has only happened twice with the third one lol.
I just played an Ibanez prestige AZ and now I might buy one
ive gotten 2 guitars from gc and had to set them up myself
whats crazy is for one i paid for a setup and they just fucked it up more
now i work on my own guitars because apparently i do it better than their employees
it had fret buzz, it hadnt before, so i had to fix the truss rod i believe
and also maybe the action
Lol damn
heres a better attempt at micing up my cab any suggestions on how to maybe move the mic or mabye improve the tone in general
Damn this RG550 is a beast, the neck is magical
Respect you are trying to play it with a clean tone. Tone sounds quite good too
Tone wise sounds good.
Yeah, this is why I tend to factor in an external set up from a qualified luthier when I buy a new guitar.
did you give it the sniff test
take a bite
I did š

Smells like maple syrup
Sounds like a strat + more. Great specs. Decent price
And Japanese build
Also has the fancy pick up switch which allows the pick ups to be treated in series
canada mentioned
yoo, anyone here got neural's Fortin Nameless X?
i wanna get it so badly but im broke atm so idkl if i should get it when it goes back to full price or not
for comparison i already have archetype gojira
so im curious if its worth getting at full price
if you have a neuralDSP
especially one that has an X variant
no reason to get another imo
Outside of Gojira no use for just another high gain Neural
If anything Id go for the Morgan or Tone King outside of that
Ok thanks :D
buddy of mine has one of the og schecter 9 strings
like same model that josh travis used for danza
and he's willing to sell it to me cause he snapped a couple strings and just doesn't care to play the guitar or replace them
i kind of want it for the sole purpose of just owning a 9 string guitar
Why do you want to own a piece embarrassment?
Because he'd have his own Rob Scallon guitar.
Without having to pay 1500 for a Rob Scallon sig.
The concept of an electric 9 string guitar is just not well thought off
it is again one of the earlier ones
iirc 28ā scale length
so itās probably only good for standard
this one
Even than, the low c# sounds like š©
oh my god there's a mesa triple rectifier?
i googled this as a joke i didn't expect it to exist
You didnt know? Its quite a famous amp
Whats the joke?
Its basically the 5150 of the early 2000's being hyped
The Triple Rectifier is the 120w bigger brother of the Dual Rectifier.
Most artists from the 90s and early 2000s used one at some point.
But very few artists are defined by that sound.
i figured if there's a dual rec
there must be a step up
now where's the quad rec
There's also a step down called the Single Rectifier.
It's 50w instead of the Dual's 100w. It was Mesa's first attempt at making a cheaper alternative to their flagship all at the time.
Nowadays, it's been replaced by the 25w Mini Rectifier.
But you can find Single Rectifiers for a decent price used.
what i really want is the badlander
which i believe is a dual rec variant
so the triple rec badlander should be the wastelander or smth
It is. It's basically a refined version of the original 2 channel Revision G Rectifier without the tube rectification option on the back, and uses only the silicon diodes.
thats a lotta words big dawg
what i do know is i played two different ones
and they kicked mega ass
There are a lot of different variants of the Recto with their own characteristics.
My least favorite are the early multi-watt versions.
They sounded like ass.
I've played a lot of different variants over the years. So I normally can tell the difference between the variants.
Ohhhhh
the combo alone runs up more than all three of my guitars combined but i need it
haven't played an actual dual rec
That's Mesa for you lol.
Playing an actual Dual Rec is an experience. You either love it or hate it tbh.
i played one of the neuraldsp's that model it but obviously it's nowhere near the same
was talking to two guys at my guitar shop about amps
and the one guy was like "yeah [name] here has one of the JPIIc's. we were jamming with it in [other guy's] basement and he just stopped and asked, 'why does your amp sound so angry?'"
Actually about that. Neural has yet to model any variant of the Rectifier.
JP2C
JP only used a Rectifier for an album. He's known for famously using a Mark.
Depends on the application. I too have Archetype Gojira, but me being me, I actually heavily dislike it. I much prefer Nameless for lower tunings.
What do intend to use it for?
Well i was thinking of getting a 7 string in like 2 months or so
And having it in
Uhhh
Idk whats that tuning called, just basically D standard but on a 7 string
So i thought it might be good for that
Well at that point it depends on the Tone your looking for.
Gojira uses a 5150III for both the Rust and Magma amps (with the clean being a Fender Twin) and the Nameless is essentially an insanely modded Marshall Plexi.
If you know the tone of the 5153 and like Joe Duplantier's tones and prefer it then there is no reason to get Nameless as it's incredibly tight and bright with a very rich upper mid range.
Nameless may be tight with a boost but it's incredibly raucous and rowdy in comparison. It has a snarl and lashes out like a beast in comparison to the much more precise 5153 in Gojira. It also has a stupid amount of gain.
That being said, with Gojira you have access to the blue channel and Fender cleans with a variety of FX. With Nameless, you have 2 different boosts, a gate, and Neural post fx.
It all depends if you want a modded Marshall or not. And no, Nameless doesn't do clean.
Ahh i see
Thank you so much for the heads up, i appreciate it tons!
I think ill be sticking to the archetype gojira for now in that case
I just wasnt sure how archetype gojira would handle the lows of a downtuned 7 string
Smart choice...despite being moddelled on different 'amps' Neural simply has a big problem: the high gain amps all do quite the same amd have a very similar reaction amd can be dialed in in very similar ways
My tip would be to be careful into falling into Neurals trap. Just get 2 archetypes or an archetype and a suite, but dont get Gojira + another high gain archetype or suite.
Alright alright, noted
Tysm guys :D
I appreciate the help tons
If everything goes to plan ill be getting a schecter sunset 7 extreme in about 2 months
So im very excited to finally try out a 7 string and learn songs on it, cuz most of the songs i listen to and wanna learn need a 7 string or higher
I wouldn't say they all have a similar reaction. For example the Soldano does not handle down tuned very well past Drop C and needs a lot of work in order to get it to that point.
I would argue Archtype Plini is also in a similar situation as it just doesn't handle lower tunings as well as other plugins (though oddly Plini's clean amp is incredible for drop tuned clean stuff).
Actually insane that this is a thing! Canāt believe it but wanted to go through the specs and tones with you all incase you fancy checking out my Sabre guitar!

I really feel ya there bruv
what happened to it
oh
if I were you I'd try to learn basic maintenance as much as possible, I did and it's saved me so much money
bc guitar center overcharges for changing strings on a floating bridge and most of my guitars are floating bridge
General cleaning and adjusting
so I learned myself with practice and error
oh ok
wait what
sorry I'm stupid
different person
yeah what he said
What is it getting maintenanced for?
learn to set action and intonation, avoid the truss rod if you're scared, changing strings is essential to know
most things can be fixed, just take small steps
watch an hour of tutorials and you'll know more than me
it's abt confidence that you can do it
especially action and intonation it's impossible to damage your guitar doing those
More scared changing strings than adjusting action
its abt practice, I was scared like you to touch anything on my guitars at some point
but now I have 6 guitar and maintain them all perfectly bc I've practiced it a lot
you'll make errors but you won't fuck things up if you follow directions, and there's a wide margin for error
worst case scenario you break a string
now something justifiably terrifying is floating bridges
Like they said too the truss rod can be a little worrysome
Most guitars have fixed bridges
You can mess up the neck if you don't know what your doing
Truss rod doesn't affect the bridge
The truss rod is basically a metal piece that's in the neck of the guitar to keep it from bowing
Yep
It depends on which way the neck is bowing, you have to know which way to turn the allen key
Fender R&D guitar development director Chris Fleming offers up tips on adjusting your instrument's truss rod to straighten out a bowed or back-bowed neck. Adjusting the truss rod will help increase the playability of your instrument.

Lo...
I guess that's your preference. The cover usually doesn't harm the guitar any
Do you have anything else you need help with?
Just to identify what key the song is in?
Yeah I can help
It's in Drop B and I believe it's in E minor
Sorry nvm it's F# minor
Tuned to drop B
How important is it to oil your fretboard
Alright
Not very, and if the fretboard is maple it can even be bad

Hey guys, anyone here got a cordial silent cable? Do yall think its worth it?
For the 33 euro that its priced at
Or should i go for the lil cheaper ernie ball angled cable?
if youre trying to reduce noise invest in a noise suppressor
i use any old cable and a noise suppressor and im fine
Nah just gotta get a new cable
And i want a lil higher quality onr
Ended up getting the ernie ball one
My boss katana wonāt update its firmware. The lights flash forever. Does anyone know how to fix?
Are you updating it with the right thing? You're not trying to put the katana software on their instead of the amp update?
Iām going to try once more with a different set of files that I found on a YouTube guide.
So I think the files were right just for the wrong version
guys i have a question
or more like a weird situation
i bought a peavey windsor a bit ago
and the front of it is supposed to be solid white, but it has a grill on it instead
and it looks like thats only on modded amps
is it possible i bought a modded one without realizing it
and if i did, there was sharpie marking 4 ohms even though its paired with a 16 ohm cab, should i keep the switch at 4 in case they fucked around with that
or just the grill was moved to the front
Where did you get the amp from my guy?
I'm assuming this what your talking about
I brought some cheap Ernie Ball guitar strings from AliExpress for a few dollars, gonna see if I get scammed.
They ship from China.
I mean... There's also Amazon dude
I know but still.
this is mine
you got scammed
there are many clone ernie balls
hold them side by side with a regular pack, there will probably be a color difference
and the quality of them wont be good
Most of the images on Google have that white cover. Have you ever used it yet?
heres the back
yeah works fine
im wondering if its modded though
this seems like a popular amp to mod
and the switch here has sharpie marking 4 ohms, for a 16 ohm cab
Where did you initially get it from?
local guitar shop
well non local but that type of store
it was discounted
this is how it was in store
It might actually be modded because I don't see anything similar to the cover it has
And it could be likely too because of where you got it from
Usually local shops tend to mod used equipment
anyone here knows how to get a Skramz guitar tone using gojira?
so that leaves the question, should i use the 4ohm output for my 16ohm cab bc it's marked
Herman Li PRS sig on the way!
Do I really need the other strings tbh
u need 3 and 4 for dissonance
then ur good
Two on top and two on bottom
name checks out
thats kind of a sick guitar tho im ngl
Wanna see the finished product?
yea
looks tasty you take a bite yet?

i will grab the free trial when i get home, in the mean time i will be thinking about it all day long

thats

Yeah not sure where they were going with that
Trivium AmpKnob full mix demo
but i've had some beers
so it sounds slightly strange
I've used it, Kinda too muddy for me
i found it fairly tight over all
especially for a $50 "plug and play" amp sim
decent quality
Reflex IRs are raw and unprocessed captures that are naturally mix-ready. It has become common practice to post-process guitar tones and accept the flaws in guitar cabs. Traditional guitar cabs are not optimized for miking up but were designed for loud stage use while a guitarist's priority is miked up guitar tone.
Interesting concept
But my one problem with ML's impulses is that they all tend to sound the same.
No matter the speaker and cab they sound very similarly to each other which other impulses from other companies (like Ownhammer or GGD) don't have that issue. Not sure why ML does though.
Anyone know about tracking bass for downtuned songs? for example in drop E, do people normally record with a bass in standard, drop tune the bass, or pitch shift down from a more playable tuning?
you need a bass with max scale length and tune it down really low
i think that low e you need to tune to is actually the lowest audible note ever
and to tune the bass u need to use harmonics
no tuner will pick it up
