guitar done
the bridge pickup didn't work so I spent twice the cost of the guitar to replace it
but now it's awesome
plays great because it's well broken in already
what's funny is this is so old it used to be white but now it's a cream color
The body style and headstock together seem a bit strange
thats probably the shadow
its a standard ibanez gio
We are proud to welcome the SA-126 to the EVH line. As the brainchild of Wolfgang Van Halen, the SA-126 represents the next step forward for EVH guitar design. A hybrid between semi-hollow and a solid body guitar - the SA-126 is the very definition of innovation incarnate. Finished in Tobacco Sunburst, Transparent Purple, Matte Army Drab or Stea...

Tuner on it
is that namm
did you see the chibson stuff
Yes it is
Ive seen the schecter razorblade
in andrew banana's hands?
on a secondary note, dimarzio pickup is in
how is it there
ive heard a lot about it
and i really feel like im missing out
especially because i live in anaheim, less than 20 mins away fro mthe convention center
It's a lot busier than expected
I have no words.
Could be because they didn’t have their convention last year. Wasn’t there a bunch of backlash over it?
No, namm did happen last year, but in april
@balmy vortex Do you think Ibanez had a good turnout this year?
The amount of people coming to the Ibanez booth was overwhelming, even on day 1 already
But did they have any new Prestige models to showcase?
Or anything from their Iron Label and Axion series?
thx lol
one take guitar playthough with no video cuz it would be too heavy and i'm lazy to take my webcam out of the la thing i made that 1st part is so hard lmao
it's the best take i've ever got in 1 take
Nice
Nope. No new prestige stuff
That’s…disappointing
Maybe later this year is what I'm hearing through the grapevines
Hope so! I was always looking forward to seeing their newer yearly prestige models.
We do to at my job, since that's the only line together with j.custom we carry from ibanez

Also
New Rob Scallon signature guitars from Schecter.
I actually kinda like those
wait that goes kinda hard?
ayo they’re fanned fret too?
do we got an MSRP yet
well the sale isn’t lasting long enough for me to get that kinda money
that’s pretty sick tho
Schecters are great mid range guitars but damn their sigs are so pricey.
i really want the glassjaw sig
if i ever get another six string it’s gonna be that one
and that’s the thing, if i get mid range im gonna get something in the $1,500 price range that has as many features as i can get, so often shecter stuff just doesn’t cut it
Honestly my other issue is LTDs have gotten dummy expensive. Especially the lower tiered ones for some reason.
1,5000 ain't mid range chief 🤣
Mid range is anywhere from 600 to 1000
i consider 1,000 to 1,500 to be about mid range just cause everything is so expensive these days
a $600 guitar is practically entry level
Idk about that.
Squire is doing some great quality things for 500 and under.
The 40th Anniversary stuff is STUPID good. And their like 350 or something.
I'd agree this to be mid ranged I mean really depends what you are into brand wise... I mean my guitar teacher is saying his 4k guitar is the bottom of expensive when it comes to guitars
Thats dumb
4k is Ernie ball range lmao
For real
American made Abasi's
What else? High end PRS's
1500 can be considered high mid range
Or cheaper top line
It's a les paul, Gibson has some interesting prices.
Yea :\
Come to London
Ya
Yeah here in the states, 1500 isn't mid range.
That's like low high range.
1000 to 1200 is like upper mid range.
That's about how much my 9 is and ya I'd agree with it being low high range.
What kind 9 is it.
Its Indonesian made...not sure that counts as high range considering whats normally considered topline
Even Strandbergs are no longer that
Or at least most of their guitars
Niceee
I WANT
Yeah they look nice af.
I dont know why, but Schecter guitars have always been ugly to me
Despite that sweet color scheme this is no exception
aside from that abysmal mgk guitar, schecter guitars look great
jesus fucking christ LOL
well my point is idk how these look ugly
not all of them are schecter, but a lot of them are
No I still think they are horrendously ugly
people who want that guitar
i sure do now
Each to their own
you say that, yet when you say "what adult wants to be seen with that" makes it seem like it's wrong to enjoy that design and be seen with it
there's nothing wrong with it
yo this goes hard
okay? but you're inadvertently insulting someone for being seen with it lol
what
I like the finish
There bodies are somewhat comfortable don't like shecters necks
that's fair
seems like a guitar i could get into
Never likes this finish much actually just played a modified one of these they where alright
i think that one is gorgeous
I owned an omen 8 for the longest time, really didn't like it but I had to use it
First 8 string I had gotten
Just recently started playing these and so far been really enjoying them
I want a GOC guitar really badly
ooh hey thats what i use
they're incredibly nice to use i cant go back to normal picks anymore
depending on how often you play the guitar they should be changed every 1-6 months
really just depends on the state of then
them
I go for about 6 months on most of my guitars before they crap out, and then about 1-2 months for my one or two main guitars I play all the time
I got bored and may or may not have started taking apart my cheap guitar fully so I can figure out how the thing works
Main reason I did this I think the volume nob is broken it spins pretty freely with a bit of resistance near the end then just spins so might replace it.
maybe this isn't the exact place to ask but, should i buy this one? it's a B.C Rich B, it isn't a 8 string or anything "special" i just am in love with it and i started looking on reverb and i was like, "if they are on this price, why shouldn't i buy it brand new" so, is it a good choice? https://bcrich.com/product/rich-b-legacy/ btw it's in ultraviolet color
Doesn't need to be a 7 8 9 or even a 10 many of us love playing six strings that make us happy, personally I think that guitar looks awful but that doesn't matter if you like how it sounds and plays and just feels go for it.
thanks, i found it on a image of mick thompson and i couldn't unsee it, and also, if i buy it i will die happy :)
Ya for sure, we all have a interests in how's guitars should look it isn't always about pleasing others but pleasing ourselves as well.
one time at my guitar shop i saw an EVH shark guitar on the display floor and mentioned it to my guitar teacher, who told me the story that van halen took his buddy’s explorer guitar and chainsaw’d it to create the look it has, only to find that it was slowly splitting in half so he had to attach a bar between the “v” on the body.
this guitar looks like what someone would imagine EVH’s chainsaw’d explorer would look like if they never saw the actual thing, and i’m not convinced it hasn’t been chainsaw’d.
but if you like it, don’t let it being a six string stop you!
Why do you think they ugly.
They look chubby at the bottom of the body, like a pear shape. They dont have a very ergodynamic or 'sharp' look to them which contrasts too much with what they seem to cater to: metal. I have the same with some of the ESP and LTD double cutaway models
I found that chubby bottom really uncomfortable to rest my arm on.
Schecter "super strats" are more akin to rear routed full fat Strats with super strat features body wise.
Yeah that bodystyle is just a mismatch for the schecter C and Omen line.
It really makes it unappealing
But I do understand the reason they seem a little unappealing. Full fat Strats are a bit thinner body wise and have more contours like the arm relief on the bottom. While most Schecters outside the Traditional line don't have that.
Most super strats don't have that arm relief in general but they compensate for the lack of contours and thicker body by having a smaller body and slightly longer but thinner horns.
Yes like RG models
Which are very sexy imo
I mean...I also like the SA...I think Ibanez in general makes good looking stuff.
Currently Im in love with the Kaizen and will buy one this year. Never felt something that plays so smooth
I've played most LTDs and I enjoy them all for the most part.
My favorite being the SN-200.
Or the Snapper series in general.
But I think they suffer from the lack of contours despite the bigger and thicker body mentality you see in Schecter.
Stay Metal Ray (or Xander Raymound Charles now) actually says it's one of the reasons he didn't renew his contract with Balaguer for his sig. Because the lack of the arm rest despite the bigger and thicker body meant his shoulder had to be in a different position which actually hurt because of the surgeries he had on it.
I haven't gotten my hands on an EBMM proper. Only Sterlings. My favorite is currently the Stingray. The Cutlass is way to chonky for my personal taste.
Took a look at some of Legator’s new stuff. Slaughter To Prevail’s new sig is pretty cool
oh shit legator got new stuff?
Always
apparently they have a new ghost model
that's cheaper than their other ones, no fanned fret but a 26.5" scale
They should focus on QC before new guitars to be fair.
they have dude
the QC issues on guitars from like
4-6 years ago
every review of their newer models has shown that the QC's improved significantly
It definitely has been getting better
hm
FGN guitars...
i've never heard of these guys but these look cool
that's a 7-string tele with fishman fluences
Heard of them. They’re like a subdivision of Legator iirc.
Sure...but improving in that crapshow is hardly a feat
odd because i read that they were a japanese guitar company from the 60s
Same with the indonesian made Abasi Laradas
and a review i watched mentioned offhandedly that they also were the company that built ibanez prestige models
but lowkey tho
They are Japanese made guitars if Im correct
Huh I forget how I found out about them. Thought it was through Legator
But I’m just looking through and reminiscing on how Fernandes Guitars were a thing. Good guitars
it was for me
cause i saw a video from NAMM of the legator and FGN booths
and i realized that i really wanted a 7-string tele with fishmans

Pro top rip the pads of your fingers clean off rock climbing abunch so you don't have feeling in your fingers so you can play guitar all you want
guys i cannot use an amp to record my guitar since it will make too much noise for my neighbours and wish to do it through my pc, how can I achieve this? and any software you recommend me to use?
Neural DSP
You will also need an interface to connect your guitar to your computer some decent speakers are useful bot not needed.
A digital Audio workspace would make things easier as well
Ive got some decent speakers, edifier r1700bt
What interface would you recommend for me? kinda new to this overall
Depends on your price range, the focusrite gen 3 or gen 4 are good for getting started.
And what does a digital audio workspace do? Is it only usefull for recording? or does it also adjust the sound I hear
It's where you can track your guitar tracks and edit those tracks just what is generally used to record your music.
You can edit your tone with EQ and panning... Though not needed I'd recommend checking out vidoes online.
I'd recommend reaper though lots of options I use reaper and FL studio as my Digital audio workspaces (DAW)
ill check them out and look any more info online, thanks for the basic stuff 😄
No worries
@subtle bay Nueral DSP has there own discord server as well if you do choose to go down that path of using their plugins it's a nice place for general questions there support team is also pretty fast to respond and helpful
If I found out correctly the difference between solo and 2i2 is that 2i2 supports 2 inputs and solo only 1? the rest is the same?
Pretty much. I'd go for the 2i2 just in case you need to scale up in the future, or should one of the jacks fail on the solo
Allright, and is the output being sent towards the 3.5mm ports or can it be send towards the usb C port aswell
I believe if you're using the AMP sim as a standalone it'll send the output through your PC speakers? But if you're using it in a DAW then the Focusrite will be your sound card and you'll require headphones/monitors attached to it.
If I'm wrong about the amp sim standalone part then it'll be the same as using a DAW
With the amp SIM you can chose where the output is being directed... When I'm using my daw I can chose the output source just the same
I haven't played with the DAW output being anything else then what I have plugged into my DI so I really can't say but I'd assume it's the same for both
Kinda confused about amp sim and DAW right now but will take a look at it tomorrow
I think it's like this, I should use a DAW (like reaper) and I can use amp sims (like neuraldsp) to amplify the guitar input that is being sent towards the DAW?
Not really, you can't output your DAW through speakers connected to your PC, unless those speakers are connected to the Interface, or you use stuff like Voicemeter to reroute it because Windows only lets you have one sound card active at a time
FL studio bro 😭😭😭😭😭
Ah... okay.
What?
The 2i2 and the amp Sims would be whats amplifying the signal before the daw, if I'm not mistaken
no it's fine i just can't help but imagine all the memes
FL is definitely more of like a hip-hop/pop production tool stereotypically
Well the sim would be running through the DAW so I'm not sure... I haven't recorded a guitar track yet.
That's what I use it for
They have added a metal preset though
I use it more for EDM then anything
🫡
The DI will go into either the Amp Sim or DAW. If you use the AMP Sim inside the DAW you'll be applying an FX to the DI and you can tweak the gain of it a number of ways
It's not like if you captured the wet signal from an amp and are stuck with it.
Ahh right I was just confused with a virtual amp sim and a physical one.
It’s much clearer now thanks
Yeah you can use an asio4all driver if you dont care about sound quality lol. Id just use headphones or speakers from the interface since usually its soundcard is better than most PC's and laptops
My old DI used 4all haha
Also good tip: if you use a focusrite and neural dsp plugins dial the pre-gain on the interface all the way to 0
Usually people make the mistake of dialing the gain until the halo stops being green
Lots of online tips say to do this... When you said green I got confused for a second as I turned my to red.
This. But it also depends on your pickups.
My Lace Deathbuckers due to their design being so radically different like to be pushed.
No its the opposite, for a true to live reaction you ought to keep the 13db at unity level on the plugin side and on the interface side which boils down to 0 pre gain on a focusrite interface
Its from the programmers themselves. Just like you dont really push a pre gain knob in front of a normal amp you shouldnt do it on the plugins
The thing is with the Lace Alumitones, they are current based instead of voltage based.
TLDR - Big tube amp go BRRRR Alumitones make it clear as water instead of how pickups normally sound through big ass tube amps.
Plugins....they don't like em that much in my experience.
All has to do with the flow of electricity.
Tell that to Peavey
Most pickups are a conventional voltage based design which is why Neural tells you that. They don't expect you to use something weird like a Alumitone which has a different design all together.
How would you calculate the input gain on those type of pick ups?
i knew the halo was supposed to be green so i dialled the gain with DI
oops
"ah yeah perfect the halo is green when i tremolo low notes and play chords, that means i'm right"
applies FX to DI
"ah yeah perfect"
A lot of the time I kinda eyeball so to speak and adjust it accordingly because these pickups are designed to work with tube amps and not a plugin on a computer I need to drive them quite a bit to about the 10 or 11 o clock positions. If you wanna be super anal about it you record a small clip in your daw and look at the wavelength compared to that of your normal pickup and adjust it until you get it right.
Honestly I follow the Misha Mansoor method of don't be afraid to turn up the Gain knob if you have to. As long you don't peak and it sounds good you should be fine.
You're never gonna know what sounds good or bad unless you try it y'know?
I love this tele a lot
Schecter guud
Nice
The neck was wee bit thinner and wider than I would've liked but I really liked it.
That's Floyd necks
Can't help myself it looks like one of my guitar picks
Lol
It wasn't the worst Floyd neck I've felt.
Damn it really does.
That's not the only one I played.
Haha ya
I would probably get that
It's a good guitar for sure
I like those fret dots always have
Same here, hollow dots are the best
I want a gold sparkle guitar that still has some of the wood I really like good sparkle
Gold
Check out esp glitterstorm guitars
Is that the more orange one?
It's to orange
This is just one of the versions lol

Not so sparkle but that finish
They are nice I forget who I follow who showed some off
I think keyan
Or how ever his name is spelt I'm tired
We're like the only one in the states that get glitterstorm ESP's
Oh wait that's ESP not Jackson

Jackson has something similar right?
Nope
Closest is Brandon Ellis his sparkle crackle and that's a whole different thing
Dat thing
Or is that full custom
Looks so similar though now I see the bigger difference
Don't make me say it.
It's nutty
I want to get into custom guitars but I really don't know where to start... I really want a GOC guitar but seems like they don't make them anymore or something?
Not customs
Do they still make there stock guitars?
Looks pretty I just can't rest my arm on these comfortably
OFC they are
I just want GOC guitar really really badly
I also want to reach out to aristides for a custom guitar but can't figure out there website
Aristides is good
Sure are
They're the homies
I just can't figure how to build a guitar
I'm sorry man, I see purple I must try it. I am the Purple Gang Leader.
Ofc you do
Me and my plastic red pickups I want that still to be my signature touch to guitars

They can do that for ya
The kitchen I'll be building in my house will be black, red and white themed so I want a guitar to match that just to be a nerd
Speccing a guitar means you're gonna be looking at what you want out of a guitar and for what tuning
Makin myself look like a weirdo in here XD
Drop A 26.5 straight scale evertune headless...
Evertune headless impossible
Locking then
Oh ya can't tune
My brain is very sleepy
But drop a 26.5 straight non headless evertune they can do
Ya
I like the headless bodies really badly that's what I want a look
I wonder if something can be done like that with an evertune
Like the GOC VAJRA+ is such a hot guitar I also like the satya+
My sleepy brain is making up some bs guitar
I'm going to make a headless test and headstock.
Figured out how to make one now I think so now it's time to have fun
It is, if you need help with the Configurator lemme know
Thanks, I want the gold finish I wonder if they can add some tarnish affect to the finish as that would be perfect
I'm going headless with a trem first which special bridge option is good or what do they do...?
Their trems are always good
Those two options (hopefully right ss)
As well custom design on the pickups is that a yes or no?
Yup, those will be bareknuckles
Cool
Aftermaths is my recommendation
Switched to dms fyi
Word
If I wanted to get a custom guitar from ibanez how hard would that be?
Impossible
Only artists can get customs
I got hope
Established artists that are Ibanez endorsed
I got hope none the less if I could I'd go fully with ibanez unless aristides feels better then I'll just have fun with their stuff.
Aristides feels better than la customs
With the builder in aristides is there a way to see a mockup of the finished product I know kiesel does it.
Just before I blow that kinda cash I'd want to know what it looks like.
Are you going custom finish or raw series?
Painted metal finish
You can ask them for it in the spec sheet form
There's a spec sheet form?
Ye
Oh? I gotta be blind I don't think I got one of those... Although I also didn't complete the full order as not sure where that would go and don't feel like committing to a guitar currently.
Go explore their website
I badly need to
God dumb those are a lot of pickup options (I'm making like 6 guitars my dream 6
Just go bareknuckles for the custom bobbins you want and explain it in the details form
Ya
What I'm doing
Very good
My favorite chord of the day
Gm(addb9,add11)
It's really pretty
Or Bb13 I guess works as well
I can’t read music but that sounds cool
I need help
I have a boss ds-1 and it a metal zone
The metal zone works good sounds good with good settings but the ds-1 makes the amp supper quite
I did not have this problem a few months ago
Most likely something in the circuit is failing, what happens when you turn the level nob up or down does it take affect or stay the same?
Nothing, I can hear it changing the tone but it’s supper quiet
The clean tone is a lot louder
When the pedal isn't engaged?
As I said it seems like something in the pedal is broken unless just some setting is set incorrectly.
Are you able to send a picture of the pedal chain you have going on?

Want to support me an...
This is it as of rn
It looks fine I wouldn't have the distortion that high but chain looks fine.
My best guess something inside has broke I'm not sure what component would cause that issue.
I had a similar issue with a volume pedal I had to get a new part and replace it.
Have you tried the pedal just by itself?
I’ll give it a shot
Could it also be because of the tuning
No. Unless it randomly starts producing volume the higher you play then I guess yes though it makes no sense.
(Play all the way up the fret board to find out)
Ok so it’s a little bit better but nothing campared to the cal or Mt
It seems to just be that output part of the circuit may just be no good sadly.
Dang
Someone who knows a bit more about pedals may have a second opinion I could ask some of my electrical engineer friends but hard to get much done over text.
Distortion AND metal zone? This is some black metal typa shit
I’m dying inside imagining that tone
Ds1 I use more for chords
Mt2 not to bad once tweaked right
Fair
It’s my primary distortion pedal
My pedal board is literally just a DS1 and a DT Drop
Gets the job done
But I’m gonna invest in more pedals
Me to
Ok opens it up
Fixed it
I swapped the position with mt2 and it’s a lot louder now
Cool
what type of harmonics are used at 0:50?
natural or pinched?
in lower tunings I can't exactly tell
It sounds like a pitch shifter... There does seem to be what sound like natural also are some bends that sound weird
I'd have to really know which part you are listening to
2nd note of the 1st bar of the breakdown
Looks to be a natural
gotcha
Just from covers and things it looks like natural the bass is doing some weird things though
need
from my understanding that seems to be the main feature, right? That it's like a classical guitar made for the comfort of electric players
How do you feel the body of the guitar?
or just the guitar in general
because I think they're basically the same but with a different neck inlay and pickup
It's nothing like a proper classical guitar at all same strings but that doesn't really matter same headstock. I really enjoy it not a massive fan of the bridge but completely functional.
I like the body I find it very comfortable the neck is also quite comfortable, the finish on the headstock has a lot of paint runs on it not impressed with that but it's a minor thing.
And yes they are the same just different pickups and not having the inlay
I meant to compare it to a classical guitar in terms of sound not necessarily on the way the guitar itself is shaped
I'm currently in the works of getting a heavily customized Aristides guitar super happy about that.
They made a really cool "classical guitar" having no pickups on their body looks really cool I'll find the photo
Doesn't sound the same at all
I mean even classical guitars all sound different...
Though that guitar really isn't ment to be played not plugged in
I heard it did so I got the wrong info I guess
It sounds like it has nylon strings but with such a small body and just how it's constructed it doesn't resonate the same.
It isn't a guitar that's to ment to be played unplugged it's still loud but not the same doesn't have the full resonate sound and feel.
5 or 6 months now I think
They have a tron guitar...
forgive me if I'm late to respond I'm going to check that out
I'm on their website, what's the name of the guitar?
That's sick as hell
They also have this really pretty thing
they're both beautiful instruments
Currently get all the art done for mine they aren't cheap and can take over a year to get made but I'm willing to get a really nice custom guitar
Getting*
I don't blame you
nothing beats having a pretty guitar in your hands and making it go pipiripiripipipi
I got no clue what those sounds are haha but I get the idea. So... YES
I'm getting there headless model 7 string with a whammy bar as the first one and most customized.
The I plan down the road 10 years from now over getting 3 or 4 more less customized and more just to have as nice guitars.
That's the plan who knows where life will take it maybe by then new guitar companies better technology
true
with every year the line between guitar and harp blurs just a little more
talking only about string count
I think more of it like a lute
whenever I see an Aristides guitar I get tempted to make the worst financial decision of my life lmao
Try to make it into the best decision
yeah idk about that
Aristides are funnily enough not as expensive as some other boutique but non-custom guitars from big brands
Thinking about Music Man, Abasi concepts, some PRS lines.
4000-5000 euros for a build is not a terrible deal
Ya they are pretty good the wait times aren't to bad either. Currently talking with the team and getting questions answered about what I'd possible as I want some very custom paint jobs.
I think already for the stock painted (not the raw models) wait times are 14-15 months.
Ya around that
For what I'm trying to get probably double that or so
I like Aristides but for me they dont have a lot to offer I couldnt find in stock guitars.
It's very different from conventional tone woods and what you can do with the wood. It's a whole different style of customization took me a bit to understand still working out questions
Yeah I dont care much about 'tonewood'. I think it has been pretty much scientifically debunked.
I'm more talking the looks of different woods
I saw a dude chopping little pieces away from his guitar and it still sounded the same
They dont use wood in Aristides guitars
Its sustainable which I like a lot
Yes I know... I'm saying that's the thing I'm having to get used to with customization is that there isn't woods to put a finish over so you can't play with that you got to make a paint finish you like or just go raw
Yes though it's apart of the exoskeleton just has a protective top coat
It's a very interesting process I'm interested to see how the neck feels with it all being one piece
Its quite decent. Ive played an aristides
Im not sure you can ask how they finish up the neck because it does feel a bit like a painted/gloss finish
You can ask for them to make them satin... I love how glossy necks feel just they get to dirty some of the prestige ibanez guitars have that nicer gloss mixed with raw and it doesn't get dirty and I love it
Music man guitars have that as well.
@balmy vortex my store just emailed me this morning 😭 I have 5 more hours of work

Store owner: "should be in next shipment this or next month" 1 week later

love joyo

anyone know any good ibanez models that are 300 dollars that aren't Gio's(i heard they suck)
Any non-GIO will probably be $500 minimum
Rip
Cause that’s my budget at the moment
who told you they suck lmao
gio's are probably the best budget guitars you can get especially when it comes to extended range models
the budget jacksons i've been told just aren't as good
I wanna get a good replacement guitar that is good Skramz/Emo music
what's your current guitar
A Ibanez rg270 from 1996
i mean that sounds like it’d be pretty emo
It doesn’t work anymore sadly
a
So idk what to buy in its place
well yeah if your budget is $300 then budget guitars are really all you can go for, aside from like a used dean
Might get that
I have the RG seven string in that color
Should I cop?
its an ibanez gio, how could you go wrong
Bet I am gonna research a bit on it so I can mod it to my specs
out of curiosity what strings do you run
im looking to experiment a bit, had the same ernie balls for as long as i've been playing guitar
because different strings are supposed to play really different right
or are they similar
I use a set of 10’s for the g b e strings and a set of 12’s for e a d strings
also finally hung up my last two guitars, now I don't have to trip over guitars filling all the floor stands in my room
So it’s my version of the 10-52
I think that's actually similar to the ones I use lol
I use regular slinky on all but my Jackson guitars and my Floyd rose
Floyd rose is heavier slinkies to balance out the Floyd better, and then Jackson's I love to downtune and I think i use that setup
8string
sadly only 7 for now
my current plugin presets are already almost inaudible with it
still trying to get a good tone
dialing in an 8 string must be a nightmare
Not saving up for a non gio if you play guitars for years
Probably
First few times sorta it's not that bad
how do you acheive a good tone in the first place
is it formulaic or you just do whatever till it works
because i did that for 6 strings and now i think i found a good 7 string one
Good tone is subjective to each person's needs... After using amps and amp Sims and spending time figuring out what they are doing and how they work it makes it easier for you to get the basic tone you want then you can tweak it from there.
Dont dial out the mids, and ensure theres enough treble
Use the least amount of gain you can get away with
ok ty
Guys any tips on finding the key signature for thally riffs? I basically got a whole song i have no idea how to program drums to
Key or time signature?
seems like time
What song is it?
sorry time signature
my own abomination
well then you can group it however you really want
sure but my brain hurts when i try to match the drums
Im pretty sure the riff is in time just weird signature
If you want it all to be in the same time signature then you could choose a time sig you want to write in and then break the guitar part down so it fits and then just write the drum part.
Pick a tempo and a tim sig and just write the riff into that time
You could just do 4/4 to keep it simple then just use note groupings for the guitar
so i can use 4/4 and then just place the notes to match the riff?
you would have to work with it and might end up doing quintuplets and a lot of strange dotted groupings
yeah ig
thall should be strange so its fine
thanks ill check it out
sorta complex rhythms but you can break it all down pretty easily and find where the notes land
What I tend to do when I dont know the time signature of a riff, record the the riff without metronome. Than tap the tempo for the meteonome to the riff and see where the transcients land so you can visually determine the time signature
Sometimes its better to re-record the riff the tempo. Pro-tip: dont accent the first beat of the metronome in your daw
Thanks for the tip. I ended up editing my take to fit the drums so now i have something that atleast matches. But the challange is actually making the drums sound good since im not a drummer
Opening it up
Theres no harsh rules. Any basic idea what you want? The best way to start is have the kick follow the riff, the snare on the third beat of each bar and a china or crash ride or something to accent each beat.
Theres some things you can take into account for realism, but the above would be a good principle to practice with
I think i came up with something decent. If i do some actual production and add some ambient guitars i think it would sound good
still not able to get the drums as i want them
But later I got the hang off it and now its a lot of fun
yeah and I need to get a good sampler and stuff
You get into some tricks which help you to completely 'milk' a riff
im just using free vsts at the moment
I use a lot of stock plugins from my DAW
Which one?
Studio One 6
ah
But for drums I use Superior Drummer
Nice
i want to get modern and massive i think
ideally a real drummer lol
But i think i managed to milk my riff a little
or atleast make it more interesting by pitch shifting it
Damn very happy with how I did setting up my guitar and polishing and leveling the frets

Long setup still going the guitar store I took it to they fucked it up baddddd
Started at like 6
I mean new pots as well... But everything needed an adjustment
Besides the intonation that was perfect
Yours Probably has nicer pickups
really doubt it, it's the js22
Super cheap ibanez pickups probably will replace them someday, they also are not anywhere near how hot I'd like mine to be for ceramic pickups they are reading 5 and 5.6 Ohms
then you probably should, got any pickups in mind?
Aftermaths
I'd probably use them for a different seven when i get it...
they look sick
They are fully customizable
How did you get that I’ve been on back order for months
Got this over 2 years ago
Good luck with the guitar when you get it
Wdym
It needed a lot of work.
More then half the frets needed leveling as well not sure if they changed the input jack but it is one of the worst jacks so going to be replacing it when I get the new one.
The electronics are just pretty crappy, for a first guitar it is fine the pickups are on the very low end for output compared to other ceramic pickups.
Not sure how big you are into guitar and everything. It is not a guitar I would buy to play but its a fun guitar to use for learning how to play as well as how to work on a guitar.
you are generally getting what you are paying for.
So if I replace pick ups I be good
Replace the pots and the pickups, level the frets, replace the nut or just will have to level out the nut as it tended to be very high, more basic stuff like intonation and the action, probably will have to adjust the truss rod, tuning stability on it sucks but i am fine with tuning a lot.
I could have just gotten the bottom of the barel when it came to them but they are a cheap guitar price wise and you are getting what you are paying for.
I would not recommend tuning past A standard on it as it has a 25.5 scale length you can with thicker strings but starts sounding crappy i really do not like going that thick
Have fun with your black metal
Bet
take his advice with a grain of salt cause he's rather privileged when it comes to high-quality instruments at his age
my main guitar is a gio 7 as well
i love the thing, it sounds fine and even better with a new bridge pickup, and when it comes to budget 7s it's the best on the market
people say the scale length is a big issue but i tune to A-standard or drop-G regularly and it's entirely fine, but it does require some serious dialling-in on your amp
Yes, though that doesn't mean what I said is false.
Though the guitars are cheap so they just come with needing some work. If you know what you are doing you can make most guitars play well, that just applies to these.
frankly for most guitarists who want a cheap 7 string it'll work out of the box
and if it doesn't for you, you probably didn't want a cheap 7 string in the first place
It will work yes
ergo, get a $500 instead of a $200 that you're gonna put $300 of work into
If you are able to do the $300 of work into a $200 guitar I'd argue it would be a better guitar although really does depend on what you do.
It doesnt have anything to do with privileged. Its good advice. Its simply not that good and depending on what you expect out of your instrument it might be better to safe up
If theres any market in which 'you get what you pay for' holds up it tends to be musical instruments.
Fair, because I’ve watched a lot of videos on it and they all say it pretty good, tuners just suck and pick ups muddy, maybe needs a neck adjustment
Schecter has the next one up for 7 strings but it’s more money than I want to spend for a secondary guitar
Its good for a 200 dollar guitar. Depending on what you expect thats good enough. Its unfair to brush the comments aside. Its a beginner guitar, meant for someone who doesnt yet care much about specifics but just wants to see if the instrument is something for them.
If thats good enough, its a great guitar. Its ibanez after all and they are comfortable to begin with. Is it anything to properly record with? Take it outside of your house a lot without a case thats equal the price of the guitar with all the humidity and temperature changes? Play weekly with your band for a few hours? Probably not.
Yeah, record no, I got a dif guitar for that
Just needed a guitar for Korn and slaughter to prevail
I think the biggest issue is the input jack unless I just somehow got something different, it's the worst jack in existence and very quickly startes crapping out. Made the guitar pointless to play, as all you get is 20 minutes of finding the right spot for the cord you move a bit and it's out of place and yelling at you.
I’ve not heard of that problem with the Ibenez, cheep 100$ guitar and amp packs yeah
It's an issue to look out for on cheap guitars generally, the shop I'm doing an apprenticeship at has 5 cheaper $400 and under guitars all in for new jacks.
Dude I get paid minimum wage and I’m high school
I don’t have much money
Most goes into supplements
250 is a good chunk of money for me, I’ll just upgrade parts if I need
How much you willing to spend on upgrades?
I get paid just above minimum wage and am in high-school as well... I never said 250 wasn't for guitars it is though I understand where you are coming from.
I own the guitar it's cheap, no way around it but you can put work into it and make it play well.
I’ll upgrade the bridge pickup and the tuners
Don’t need a new neck pick up I never use it
Maybe the nut with a black tusk but that’s like 11 cheep
And get what instead
I also got it because I love the shape that’s why I did not get the Schecter
Something in the 500-600 range the difference is already noticeable
Im not saying you should...its what I would do
Id feel a thief of my own pocket buying a Gio lol
Luckily my Gio was already used so it was even cheaper... Though I have free guitars that are better then it
I agree 100%
But like I said it is a secondary guitar
My main is a Schecter cr-6 that is like 800 but I got it for 500
I still don't get this whole secondary guitar thing, if it's just a side guitar why not save to get something nicer if there is no rush to get the thing if it's just a secondary guitar.
In the end still up to you
Kinda agree...especially if its just for Korn and its a 25.5 scale length guitar. Just tune your six stringer down lol
Then I’m missing a whole string for the song
Korn has plenty of 6 string
Like when I get a jazz master I’ll spend more on it because I’d use it for nirvana, Green Day, Molchat
But the 7 is for slaughter and Korn
Jazz master, nice
It’s like 430$ and pretty good
Imma get a bass first because I want one but eventually you know
Gotta get a bass Amp as well
I got a older fender rumble fine for 4 string
Solid
Imma get a Ibenez 5
Like this
I’ve tried one out in person, 4 string version and I loved it
The rumble sucks for a 5 string bass though I do have the older model as I got it for nearly free so just got it...
Haven't played a newer one yet
Wdym
It's just to low for mine it sounds awful
Small little speaker can't handle it probably some other things I haven't bothered to look into it as it's just something fun I got
Thats almost like 800 for a 7 string guitar if you dont buy the bass
Bass is for CPU
Yes
I don’t need one that expensive
To me it seems you really don't need a 7 string guitar
If I replace a few parts when I get money I will get a guitar that’s looks how I want and sounds it
Not to even record with one just to have fun with you know
Pls going off of this video it seems pretty good

Theres hardly honest gear reviews on youtube...most of em get free gear to try. Imagine them talking smack about a product
The thing is, people here tend to have huge confirmation bias. They come here and ask if their 300 or 400 dollar guitar is good. Others react saying...for a 300 or 400 its fine but it has flaws and might be worth saving up some money. If that happens I notice the immediate counterreaction where people say the 300 dollar guitar seems great to them. If thats the case why even ask?
I stopped recommending stuff because people mostly as a question, give you the options. You take time to suggest something that's more value for money/better value... when they only wanted confirmation bias on the one they wanted 🙂
Yep
Yeah its how I feel. Its not that the advice given here is in bad faith
It's why I just default to "buy a quad cortex" when people ask for amp recommendations. For the most part it'll be out of their price range, and they won't pay attention to a serious recommendation anyway 🤣
Making music is just a hobby in which saving money and being smart with it pays off unlike going for cheap stuff just to 'have' it. Especially when you are semi serious enough about it to ask people for advice
Fair
Lmao
'Just buy a dumble, you get so much for 5000 dollar'
or pirate plugins so you can get high quality stuff on whims on a budget
but I'd never do that it's illegal
I am not encouraging piracy that was a joke
Cant really pirate Neural stuff but whatever
Also plugins dont make a crap guitar suddenly sound or play fantastic.
But we already discussed this, and since you cant hear the difference between pick ups its a futile discussion
i have pirated gojira amp
that's neural isn't it
in a mix there is little difference between humbuckers, it's been tested, obviously humbuckers to single will be different
yes you can hear minor difference when played alone
but speakers and amp overall change sound the most
so plugins are the way to go
if you want a source I got you
No prefer to support the company, thank you.
yum!
Sorta :)
The boys and I were just testing out stuff
noice
I like this a lot, nice one
Do you guys know if the Schecter Reaper 7 MS Is a good guitar?
any schecter is a great choice. amazig guitars
That's what I was thinking! I heard that the finish for this guitar in specific can end up coming in not so great condition tho
its like most guitars, it matters what environments its in. the paint gets wonky if its too hot, cold, moist
Thx
It is a good guitar do I think for the same price you could possibly get something nicer yes I personally just not a huge fan of their guitars though that guitar should do whatever you want it to do.
It also not having locking tuners for the price is a bit sad but fine
Yeah, I'm looking for a 7 string metal guitar and that one looks like it'll do the job
It will do the job
My guitar teacher says Schecter is the way to go so I trust him
Bass wise I've been looking at the Omen elite 5 but can't seem to find a lot of info on it
That's very subjective to the person.
I always recommend trying to find a store that has one and try it first to see if you like it.
Yeah for sure
Trying out the new Strandberg Boden Essential which is Strandbergs new Indonesian made line of guitars!
DISCLAIMER: Strandberg DID send me a guitar for free for the sake of making a demo. However just as always It doesn't reflect what I say about the product. No money exchanged and The guitar gets sent back after the demo has been made.
------...
Mmmmmmm
Oh shit nice!
Does anyone know where I can find a pack of locking tuning machines for an eight string? I haven’t seen any that are promising and I feel like my only good option that’s gonna be pretty expensive is to just buy two six string packs
don't think it'll be cheap regardless, but you can buy singles in some stores: https://www.thomann.de/intl/misc_guitar_tuning_machines.html?gk=GIETMESG&cme=true&oa=pra
Two six string packs wouldn't work... Gear ratios and tuning head hole size.
You can order from hipshot or many other of similar companies
Altogether, they’re about as much as they would be for a 6 string, maybe a little more
I mean it would work with drills but the gear ratio would drive me crazy
Not surprised, locking tuners altogether aren't cheap and most companies will "overcharge" when selling singles of anything that is normally a bundle
worth a look, though
Tuners are always expensive it's one of the things a lot of people I have tend to found seem cheap but nope they are a big chunk of a guitar price.
That's a gorgeous bass
Does anyone have any experience with using Cubase?
been trying to use my Archetype Gojira with it, but im not getting any sound from it
hello everyone, just asking for some recommendations for a guitar tuner. I'm hoping to get a 7 string soon so I just want a more accurate and easy to use tuner 😃
my one is not exactly the best btw 😅
What do u use normally
just a random "starter" one i got when i started playing. just want something new and better tbh
Budget?
up to £75 or around that. dont wanna pay too much
That’s a good price I’ll look in a second
Tc electronic polytune
Or just a Boss chromatic tuner
hey guys im looking for a good practice routine?
I have this one, I would recommend it as well.
Depends on the type of music you want to play and your current schedule
Are you using an audio interface?
Ah yh my bad
Metal
my current schedule? im focused on practicing songs. i have practicing scales and general metal techniques too. all self taught.
i think im looking for a way to learn Lead guitar cuz i want to be able to create lead parts easily.
my schedules usually focus on technique, scales and songs.
If you know some riffs of songs then look at more riffs from those songs. Then add the rhythm chords and hey presto you've learnt a song
Songs are a lot of copy pasta so once you've learnt a verse that's usually the same, maybe with a tiny variation later on. Same with a chorus etc. So you only really learn a couple of parts then figure out the pattern verse, chorus, verse, chorus, breakdown, chorus etc.
ah ok
thanks
Learn your scales and their modes as well as the chords within the scales
yh will do
Also always play to a metronome
yh of course
they're cool
that's dope
An EC-1000 for less that 1k.
a steal tbh
Prefer their big brother
I'll take it
Lol come to NY or order it on GC.
Heh the emphasis was on take. I'm broke 😂
Lol me too
im so pissed
making a concious effort to stop my pinky from flying it still does so
im been trying to correct this one issue for over half an hour and absolutely no progress
Takes more than a half an hour session
I think it takes a few half hour sessions tbh
At least like
3 or smth

@dry parrot You said you wanted to hear the difference between the Strat with Deathbuckers and "The Beast" right?
what was the difference or same between the two
whatever it is sure I'd like to hear them in a metal mix, because that's most of where guitars tone matters, is if it sounds good in a song
of course if you're just playing solo guitar I guess small details can matter much more
and it's no bother comparing passive humbuckers to active to single pickups
those will all have very different sounds

Hello, my friend and I have been trying to record music for the past few months and we have been having troubles getting the guitar to sound "clean." We have tried to fix the issue, but could not find a solution, so we recorded 2 songs with a muddy-ish guitar. I did not know if this was a hardware issue or just a software issue. If anyone has any advice please @ or DM me. 🙏 🙏 🙏
@silver valve
It's something
Thoughts on this it's been an idea stuck in my head for ages this is my first time ever recording it and I really didn't try to make it perfect just an idea.
Should I turn it into something?
Okay... I gotta stop being a musician and start being a listener, I dislike it but probably due to it being isolated and not being played to anything, anyways I'll see if I can write something using that as my base that's my first single project.
That alone sounda awesome to me
Musician bias I hate it lol. thanks though always nice hearing someone say something sounds good
I hate anything I play by itself add a backing track and I'll be like oh this works
TBH this sounds like an intro to an album or just a song
Well that's what it will be
I can already imagine this sections and then some crazy shredding
Give me like 2 months to procrastinate on it might be half finished
lol
This is the table I gotta move everything off then the table then the bed then all back in, (that is cheese cloth I was making almond milk)
Hey it's your music take as long as want
lol
I want to piss myself off by playing the kindergarten clean up song
So what tuning is this?
The chords seem to be Ab Gb E Eb B all of that can be achieved in E standard, although tuning doesn't matter much as long as you got the lowest and highest not in the range you can generally play it if the guitar is tuned somewhat normally so chords aren't a pain to play you can play it.
How do I do the cords
There are so many different ways, I don't know which positions they use, you'd have to put in the work to find each note and lay it out... Learning songs by ear can take a good bit of time at first
My sense of pitch is very bad
Would be good practice
You can look up chord charts and pick whatever matches those chords but feels the easiest may not sound the same but will be similar

Hi so I'm looking for a left-handed guitar any recommendations
https://www.thomann.de/nl/linkshandigen_modellen.html?oa=pra&gk=GIEGLH&cme=false&filter=true surprisingly good quality
its also already sorted by prices high to low i think
one that's left handed

i recommend learning right handed, its so much easier in the long run
I know how to play right handed and left handed I'm an ambidextrous guitar player
why go though the trouble of obtaining left handed guitars then
Because I want one of my own
schecter
i see
well yeah cant go wrong with schecter
and check guitar center has some sales today
they have prob the most lefties out of anyone
Yeah and if I ever join a band it would be cool to switch it up on stage between songs
Yeah
list of all the 6 string left hand they got
Thank you
i have a demon-6, thats a decent guitar
i do like them i got the 7 lol
