#Guitars & Bass

i now run power slinkys on my 7
i don’t remember all the gauges off the top of my head but it’s 11 for string 1, 48 for string 6, and 58 for string 7
11-54 on one and 10-52 on another
10-52 and 9-46 on another
Is it good idea to grab a di-box for home use? To record a guitar
I had the same question due to some clipping issues I had with my interface but infortunately it wasnt really answered. I guess it mainly depends on how you want to record guitars. If you use amp plugins an audio interface seems to be the most logical route
If you record guitars with a mic'd up amp its always good to also record DI so a DI box would be smart.
I want to clean up the signal a bit more
How do you currently capture your guitar?
guitar > focusrite scarlett 2i2 > linear input in pc mobo
I don't see how you can clean it up more if your guitar is direct into the focusrite
and I have some noise that I think galvanic isolation might help?
as far as I understand di-boxes has galvanic isolation inside right?
No idea
I kinda wanna try to make diy solution just to test it before buy anything... but thought to ask first if someone have knowledge about it
I was just thinking guitar into interface into pc is the shortest/simplest path. I mean it might work but I have no idea as I don't do much if any recording currently
The problem is that I have noise when I don't touch strings, either I have sensitivity too high or I have bad grounding/whatever else at home
More than likely grounding or interference from something electrical
Hmmm gonna make diy solution and will share if it will work, maybe someone else with same question will stumble upon this
It could be anything. Ashtone sometimes has an issue with the RGB lighting in his studio creating unwanted interference
So he has to turn them off
DI's have a cleaner signal because interfaces work with a pre-amp
So if he really thinks it necessary he could go that route, but I think it shouldnt be necessary
They'll still be sending the DI into the same interface and pre-amp was my point
Ah yeah
I get the use when sending it over stupid cable lengths to front of house etc. DI also acts as a signal booster
Well than I suppose the solution is indeed to be found somewhere else
At least they're not picking up a radio signal like some people do 😂
I had the same problem, but it turned out to be my pick up height 😑
it’s not trve kvlt tone unless it’s picking up old Soviet sleeper cell activation channels
wtf
what track is it?
My big 3
Harley benton with dimarzio atomizer (I left the stock covers on)
Cort EVL Z4
Ormsby metal X7
The Wendy’s 💀
I thought it was funny
And then I put new strings on
Now it won't come off unless I take em off

When the day comes in 10 years I'll take it off
as blood runs black - in dying days
I found an exercise to synchronize both hands. Do I do everything correctly in terms of technique?
Yeah, good economy of motion as well👍
thanks
how are you recording your amp?
Snazzy ✨
Its just my phones microphone
I don’t have any sort of midi or computer to run it through
put your phone on top of/in front of the amp i would recommend
you want it to pick up the sound from the amp more so than the sound of your picking
i feel like the guitar tone might be passable it just needs better recording
Heres the pedal I’m using
oh okay makes sense
yeah maybe paired with bass and kick drum or should be fine
generally i'd say that nothing can top the tone made by an actual amp head, either analog (physical) or a vst plugin. pedals shouldn't be the main tone-creating force when dialing a tone but rather something that helps to shape it. I don't like distortion pedals for metal
i more so meant it might sound fine we just can’t tell due to the recording quality haha
that too yeah haha
I just learned hallucinate and cancer by TDWP
I know they ain’t that hard but was listening to them and had my guitar out and I was like let me learn these since they’re in the same tuning
Can someone recommend me a good distortion pedal for deathcore im lost on what pedals to get im doing a wish list for my birthday

And ima try and get stuff so i can finally like maybe start getting a good guitar rig and stuff im thinking like i want it to idk how to say it but like kinda mimic angelmakers guitar tones and shit idk im lost help
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Find a good amp tone first, then use pedals to shape it.
If the amp sounds terrible to begin with it's tougher to shape with pedals
Especially distortion pedals will sound harsh through not so good amp tones or bad amps.
Use Equipboard to find what amps bands you like use and it'll help you narrow it down. More than likely it's a 5150/6505 based tone
Damn...I found a rather old little snippet from back in the day when I was really getting into modes and stuff and started improvising with em. This were some lydian noodles.
Anyways I'm planning to buy a Scarlett audio interface while also relying on plugins for the effects, is it a viable decision?
Plenty of people use that route paired with one of the Neural DSP amp Sims
It's the best value for your money, it's just the less traditional route
It's just you need to be a bit more tech savvy to get it all to work. It's not as boomer as just plugging in the guitar cable, turning on and twiddling some knobs
Yeah plus my amplifier is busted like literally broken
I need to rely on a more digital matter
My schecter c-8 Silver mountain multi scale
Hot
Do you guys have any recommendations for an budget friendly guitar for someone that plays VERY on and off? (I've been playing for 5 years SUPER on and off, I have a weird squire ripoff and it sounds horrible)
old picture of me playing at a festival in 2009 or 2010 ...
B.C. Rich Warlock Bronze
one member band 😛
either way I currently play this
🙂
What are your thoughts on buying used guitars?
Have the same pedal my tone sounds different
Some people swear by it, some people don't. If you're buying used just make sure you do your research and don't get scammed/buy a fake.
Hey guys, I’m a lefty and struggling hard to find any 7 strings I like. It’s very limited the options and the price points are all over the place.. am I crazy to just keep buying right handed and flipping the hardware?
i mean schecter is a good start
The only thing is to get one with a whammy bar is a huge price hop from what I’ve found
whammy bars are for posers real men just detune and retune the strings really really fast
What about the Matt Heafy signature?
I have been eyeing this up I hear amazing this about it! The shape is very classy
Was just thinking of that because I know he has lefty models. What about LTD, do they have any?
Lies
Get a whammy bar and stick to 1 tuning like a pro + having a good excuse to buy another guitar
i don’t use a whammy bar i just have 7 of those tuning cranks taped together so when i needs to whammy i slap em on the tuning pegs and whammy it manually
Already have 8 don't have space for more 😂
Good excuse to move to another place!!!!!
Got me there
You'd be surprised how many guitars can fit in a small place. To be fair I 'only' have 5, but you can have a standard somewhere and hang some on the wall
Yeah I have a 10 rack
Oceans Ate Alaska fan? Lol
Yes
I still want an abasi concepts 😩
Jibs has one so I recognise it instantly
But I actually didn’t know they used it till I got interested in it
Metalbirb also has it
The Kaizen looks fun
it looks so good but it’s like $3k

imma settle for one o dem newfangled matt heafsters for now
Do you think a 25.5” can hold GGCFAD? Or do i need like a 26.5” or 27.7”
I feel like a bari wouldn’t hold the lighter strings well but a tenor wouldn’t hold the low G well
I need to get a fret wrap for my guitars
Only guitar I primarily use is my Ibanez rg6000fm
My bassist actually has a 2nd one in a different color
fret wraps aren’t necessary, you can mute the strings yourself
they’re fine for practice but don’t let it become a crutch, i would say
Only brought it up cause he has one in that picture
Get used to playing without one otherwise it'll be a crutch and you won't be able to play clean otherwise
I don’t use one so I guess I’ll just not use it
You know what I should get?

Might ask for it for my birthday
They're handy for recording, but yeah. People get too used to using one and they can't play without one
I honestly don’t know if a wrap is a crutch for me. I can mute strings fine but i can’t get takes im happy with for recording without one
How do I research if the seller is not scamming
Oh ok thanks!
well, they're nice for recording
a lot of people see fretwraps as the "fake being able to shred" thing
which yes, they can do
i've personally never used mine that way lmao
stays behind the nut 24/7
very handy for that
yes
mark holcomb uses that tuning in reptile i believe, and all his 6 strings are 25.5"
also question for pickup guys here, what do people think of fishmans?
ive always been very anti-active pickups, but i hear SO much about fishmans and nearly every fucking manufacturer is putting them in their extended ranges now
so im wondering if its worth it to actually get a 7/8 with fishmans or if it's just better (and cheaper) to grab one with random passives and swap them out for a set like the silos or lundgrens
Yeah i was thinking about reptile specifically. Would you use the same gauge for drop C or would you swap out strings and re setup when changing tunings?
same gauge, but a 7 string version
you're essentially in drop g
so take your drop c gauge, find a 7 string set with the same first 6 gauges, and then don't use the 6th string in the set
or if you find that gauge, you could literally just buy a single 7th string to swap out your current 6th
you can definitely drop down to that with your current gauge for practice though
just expect it to be pretty loose and maybe not intonated great
doesn't matter if you're learning tho, i used to do it all the time before I had multiple guitars
the only fishmans i've used personally were matt heafy's in the matt heafy sig
they were beautiful and im still torn on buying a matt heafy sig or buying the pickups
andrew baena of carcosa also swears by the heafsters
yeah thats not the vouch im looking for personally lmao
i hate carcosa guitar tones
this is probably a very hot take for this server but im just not a deathcore guy
understandable honestly
the only gothic metal fan in this whole server LMAO
i think the guys from unlucky morpheus use strandberg but idk if they kept the stock fishmans in theirs
well, if not from andrew, take it from me personally cause i used the heafy in standard tuning on a 5150 on its basic crunch setting
its beautiful
like the genuinely sounded leagues ahead of my own ibanez seven string and an ibanez guitar was what i wanted from the moment i started playing
yeah ibanez are uh
not good! pickup wise
i absolutely love my prestige but the pickups are definitely something i dont care for
my prestige stays in standard 24/7, for jazz stuff
so it works there
but if i ever drop it to drop c# for versailles stuff they'll be out there instantly
problem is the heafy pickups are about the same price as the actual guitar, and i'd have to also get push-pull knobs to make full use of them
*the actual guitar being mine, not the heafy one
yeah fair
i dont really have a budget issue this time around, my prestige was a deep sale at like £1000, my other ibanez was £500 on sale
this time im looking at either double that for an insane guitar, or another one around £1000-£1500 + a btb805
well, the matt heafy sig i was just talkin bout is around 1700 CAD for the seven string variant
(the pickups themselves being around the higher end of $300)
strandbergs generally go for $1500 CAD+
and kiesel customs for 7+ strings will generally start around $1.8k to $2k CAD - and keep in mind that the conversion rate of CAD to Pound Sterling is slanted in the British favour, so you're looking at cheaper prices in pounds; 1500 pounds is closer to 2k CAD
oh yeah no fuck kiesel
me and jeff have polar opposite political views, don't feel comfortable buying from them
if i was gonna do any custom it'd be skerve
o-oh
was not aware any of them expressed political views
well like obviously they as people do but im not aware of the views expressed
jeff is very conservative
and every so often feels the need to push his views onto the brand social media accounts
Anyone care to rate my rig?
Great marketing! Oh wait...no it isnt.
I’m considering getting an 8-string guitar! The models I’m currently looking at are:
Ibanez RGMS8
Ibanez RG8
Schecter Omen-8
Jackson X series Dinky Arch Top DKAF8 MS
Anyone who has any experience with these or other recommendations?
hell of a lot better than mine, 5/10 on the cable management, 7/10 overall
dont know if you´ve already got something, my personal recommendation would be going with the Solar A2.7C LH. It´s the one I went with when I wanted a 7 and am absolutely in love with it (besides there really is barely anything else out there(
Damn maple neck and mahogany body! That is tight! I really like Olas stuff didn’t realize he made lefties
I hope Nik gets a big collab someday or does his own like that I feel like they’d sell well
Solar´s lefty selection is pretty small but that A2.7 is dope
I love it, most comfortable guitar I´ve ever played (without too much experience to be fair but still)
feels incredible, sounds amazing, especially for the price
I play a BC rich warlock upside down honestly anything is better 😅
But it really looks comfortable and I think that’s the biggest reason I need a true lefty, it holds my mind regression back being so uncomfortable
My progression back*
as said, big vouch. Very reasonably priced, incredibly light and nice to play. Neck dive is a bit much but that´s not too bad either
Thank you!
Anybody have any recommendations for an acoustic feels like an electric?
I'm looking at an Ibanez ALT20 rn and I think it's what I want, but if anybody has any suggestions I'd love some input
So bascially a Fender Acoustasonic
I found another guitar that has the black aura finish but I still want the one oceans ate alaska has
Maybe good for a 2nd 6 string
Fender literally wrote the book on electric basses, laying the foundation for musical innovation and evolution. Learn more about Fender electric basses.
i think you should buy a Jackson. you can find some good ones used for about $100-$800 depending on your budget. i got mine on offer up for around $130.
I have a legator 8 string whose pickups need to be changed
And I was wondering what pickups should I get. I kinda want the Fishman Fluence Abasi sigs but what else is there
gnarly 8 string
any recommendations for a 6 string guitar with a floating bridge?
Any Ibanez would do
You can take it into guitar center to get it set up for floating
Or you can go with a floyd rose
Im glad to say ive mastered the pinch harmonic
the only problem is that i have the king v js32 and i have 0 idea if it is possible to do the change because of the way the strings are
Not any Ibanez but something with an original edge bridge or edge lo-pro
Tremolo bridges I would never cheap out on
what would you say would be the average price?
Whatever the current price of prestige models are? 1400 to 1800 on average maybe
If you really want q floating bridge and not regret it just invest some extra dough in the end. I think the original edge bridges are better than any floyd rose system
I mean they'd have to remove the bridge and route it out for the floating trem. Not worth it really when you can just buy a guitar with one.
yea, thats the main reason why im trying to investigate whats a good option
too much things to do on the poor guitar
I do love a good floating bridge tbh
Yeah just don't skimp out on it, you'll want to make sure it's got a decent trem/floyd system on it so it holds tuning well.
ok, i dont know much abt this floyd system that you guys talk abt, whats the difference between it and a usual trem?
Floyd is for more extreme bends/dives. Usually has a locking nut and you tune it from the bridge. Compared to a normal trem where the nut is normal and tune at the headstock
so it just stays more in tune than others?
Depends really
when using the trem
Floyd rose is a brand of a full floating system
A floyd allows you to lower the notes and also pitch them up, whereas a normal floating bridge you'll struggle to pitch up
Other well known brands are Ibanez's systems. Most well known are the edge and lo-pro edge
Both generally better tuning stability than a regular floyd rose
oh so i imagine its way easier to do dives and stuff like that
Yeah, if you're talking dives it's more than likely a Floyd type system and not what you normally get on a Fender/PRS
okok
It's what Nita is using here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc9Ojq04P6s
does the Floyd system comes in any guitar or is it like a separate thing?
Depends on the model like any guitar really
ok
question, is it better to just buy the things and build the guitar or is it better to just buy the thing?
To install those bridges, you needs to cut a hole through the body for it to go through, then route out the back, and screw in the string tension system to counter the tension of the strings.
If you're new to floating bridges they're a pain as you can't just change tunings. If you go from Drop C to Drop B you have to adjust the spring tension on the back to match the reduced tension from the strings.
okok, i dont really do drops, i prefer to stick w standard lmao
but really thanks guys, now i know what to search for
Yeah but honestly...once you do this several times its not that bad
Im not changing tunings every week or so on my prestige but its relatively 'simple' to do. Just a bit more time intensive because its like a fresh set up
is there really a point in using a guitar anymore 💀
i can only imagine what that must sound like
i cant view that on mobile so it will have to wait
Can someone listen to my song and give me some feedback on it?
there’s also #1095992147968262144 for more in depth feedback but i can tell you if i like it i suppose
geetar
yamaha pacifica, squier affinity deluxe telecaster
Yeah it was a bad descision. The wiring is messed up. Anyways I want to get a loaded pick guard for it. I’m also throwing on a new bridge since the old one is completely stripped
I have that blue one and I’m not a fan of it
Cardboard guitar solo live at The Worcester Palladium 😂
The been dead reflections they’re guitarist couldn’t make it so they had backtracks but still wanted a 4 piece so they had a cardboard guitar
Question I was examining the bands gear what is that thing on top the amp on the right
On top of the mark bass one
It's the amp.

Ah
I figured but I was thinking maybe it was a mixer or something
I’m wondering if what I have would be enough for a live setting
I use that fender on the top and plug my laptop into it to get my tones
what are some good amps? are fenders good?
I think so
I use a fender twin reverb but I got a super good deal it
Usually $1,200 and I got it for $600
Katana boss amps are exceptional, and pretty cheap
Depends what you want and style - each range/brand is aimed at a particular style
What amp head gets tones like archetype gojira
I’m assuming katana’s must be good for modern metalcore / hardcore?
to be honest this set up I’m using with my laptop going through the twin reverb, works very well, but I’m just concerned on how it’s going to work in the live setting
Depends. I wouldnt necessarily go with a Katana for a live setting especially if you want Gojira like tones
Can’t you use the quad cortex or whatever to get all the nureal dsp tones you have
Holy fuck it’s $2,000 sheesh
Depends, could be a 5150, could be a Dual Rectifier. There's generally only a couple of amps that tend to do those sorts of tones.
How does a quad cortex work? Could I get the tones from archetype Gojira on there and plug it into my amp?
because if I can, then that would probably be my ideal set up because then I just have to bring the cab
Quad Cortex doesn't have Neural Amp Sim intgration yet - but there's a load of Neural Presets as well as downloading Captures that people have done of 5150s etc.
Ah
I think what Ryan from FFAK said the other day was most people in bigger live bands using a Quad Cortex, are using the Preset that Chris from TGI made - It uses a 5150 for the main amp, and uses the Cali IR from Get Good Drums
Nice
Do those all come on the quad cortex or do you gotta like add them or something
So this tone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pqk0Y4qd3pU
The Ghost Inside playing our song Engine 45 at band practice from earlier in 2022
Live audio mix by: Matt Dierkes
Yeah that’s be sick I play mostly in drop a
If you go to page 105 in the manual it'll tell you all the "pre-installed" stuff https://downloads.neuraldsp.com/file/quad-cortex/Quad+Cortex+User+Manual+2_0_0.pdf
We do like hardcore and sometimes death metal
The vocalist wants us to start playing live maybe in November
The Neural Capture section will be a mixture of Pre Amps, Power Amps, Pedals etc.
Possibly October if we have the ep finished and if we can play live
Maybe I can ask my cousin for more help because he plays live
Yeah, there's multiple routing you can do, plus whether you're using actual cabs vs monitors and IRs etc.
Like if you don't do a lot of tap dancing during your set you could run both guitars through it, or both guitars and a bass. Or just one guitar and bass.
I’m just trying to know what I’m doing cause it looks like there’s a lot that goes into a live setting
Yeah we only me as the guitarist for now
Guitar vocals bass drums
A lot of people use it for the midi switching stuff. But it does make for a pretty compact rig. Just if you're using a proper cab and not a FRFR you'll need some sort of power amp to go into
Also, I understand now why you need in ear monitors when you’re on stage because when I was on stage playing cardboard guitar, I couldn’t hear shit
Like I was trying to hear the backing tracks so I could at least look like I was playing it 😂
Yeah unless you have a stage monitor.
I'm not too family with a live setting tbh
I just run my QC into the power amp section of my Katana through a 2x12 cab
Fair enough
Probably should just go to more local shows
Cause it’s easier for me to look at the gear at a local show
Plus the bands will probably be more willing to talk about it versus if I asked like a national band
TGI's set up. Two QCs each for both guitarists and bassist (one main and one redundancy), plus midi controllers etc.
Not a cheap rig 😂
If I was able to run archetype Gojira through my laptop to my amp with no problems live then that’d be the ideal thing
Looking for Guitar Combo Amps? Sweetwater has 0% Financing, FREE Shipping, and FREE Sweetwater Support for Guitar Combo Amps!
This what I’m using rn for a amp
Just put a TB-4 and a SH-4 in it and changed the string gauge to 10-52’s
Honestly mate...if its your first show and you gonna have some more gigging invest into a good amp. Its never lost money and the complex modelling/midi will come later
Be prepared to spend a 1200 bucks on a decent amp but its not money wasted
I’m planning for the future ye
Anyone know a good affordable accessible 7-string?
ibanez gio series
mine was like $400 with tax you can prolly get em cheaper
Jackson also has a budget 7 & 8 series, the 8 stringer is $500 iirc, but idk what the actual model is called
should i change my metronome tones from drums to clicks
changing would mess me up a bit now but not changing would mess me up when i get into writing and record over drum tracks
Just whatever, you get used to it very quickly
Ok thnx for the advice

Planning on getting this bass built soon.
If I do end up getting it I'm hoping to form a really neat tech-death band that I have been thinking about for a while.
out of curiosity, how come some guitars have no head?
does that mean it's just in a set tuning?
no, it’s a weight reduction usually. you can see the tuning pegs are on the body
such as here
Its ergonomical/more comfortable
right
The headstock, especially when standing up will mean that the guitar tilts in a certain way which is not optimal for your wrist and finger position to the fretboard
Theres other ways to counter this, but having a headless guitar does it for you and it looks pretty cool to some as well
I'd prefer to have the head on that guitar but It won't come with one for a 7 string, I really like how bass heads look there is an Ibanez that does have the headstock and I may buy one of them instead of getting that thing made still saving and deciding.
Not a great photo but this is the other option I'm thinking of
personally i love the aesthetic of it
but also i lift and i have gains so i dont need a headstockless one
💪
😍
i want to get a set of those so bad
but my current pickups are too good rn
i want to get new pickups
not sure what to get tho, i want fishmans but they'd cost as much as my guitar did if not more
also i have no idea how to install them
Have yet to install them because I don’t know how so I will take them to the local shop
@fierce wyvern normally i use 11-54s since they're just thick enough to be what i need
damn that's thick
11-54 with locking tuners is just perfect to go to drop C and can go to AGCFAD
bruh
that is insane
my guitar is tuned FBbFBbEbFBb and honestly im a fraid to put it back in standard
😭
for reference my 7th is 58 gauge
how
does he think his 7 is a bass or smth dear lord
early monuments tuning for ya
but they use 8 strings so
missing a top Eb
i make do tho its fine
Mine is 64
on Gnosis
no but he has to change the tuning on it often cause he works in music production for like multimedia
ah
but also he likes drop tuning it when he isn’t using it to make rock for the only interesting part of a documentary or whatever
Admit Defeat, Degenerate, The Uncollective, Blue Sky Thinking
the rest of the songs is tuned AbFBbEbFBbEb
which is what tesseract used on One
i just picked the heaviest strings my local guitar shop had
which were the Ernie nuts power slinky
Haha I ordered them from Sheet Happens
What?
I am confused
Oh ok
so im not ordering them online for more expensive prices
when i could pop down to long & mcquade any day of the week and spend $13 on some strings once every like 6 months or more
Ah well my local guitar shop sells them same ones for 20 instead of 15
ok, what’s the shipping cost tho
Free I think
💀
why is shipping never free in Canada
hate it here sometimes
like how Shibori Threads, an American based company, has cheaper shipping to fucking Europe than Canada
betcha it’s free shipping in the US tho
My babies
Nice
yo whatsupp, today i got a jackson js32 w a floyd rose but when i play it for a while it goes way out of tune, like 2 steps down, is this normal or am i doing something wrong?}
im using standard tuning and i have the tuning locks in
now, i'm not a floyd rose expert and i can't tell you what's happening, but that's def not normal 😭
yea, its werid af
i try to stay away from guitars with trems for reasons like that lol
too many moving parts for me
same, im pretty new to guitars so its something new to learn
Should def mot be happening, even on a $400 guitar.
Did you have it set up?
wdym set it up?
Have you ever had a guitar tech set it up and intonation it for you?
Adjust action, etc.
I would definitely have it get a proper set up. Take it to a guitar store and they will set it up for whatever turning you want and get it intonated right.
Should be good to go after that. Just don't change your string guages after lol
Floyd's take a little knowledge to work with and are a pain to intonate the first time. It going so badly out of tune tells me something is very wrong.
ok, maybe its because there has been no maintenance i guess
today i have sum guitar classes so i might just take it in
Did you change the strings or anything?
nope
Hmmm
just got playing like 2/3 hrs and noted it
im playin w the strings that came w the guitar
Hard to say over the internet. A guitar tech should be able to figure it out tho.
Usually the setup will be ok out of the box, but it going out by 2 steps is quite a bit.
a string just fokin broke
Refer to my previous advice lol.
nvm thw guy no longer works there lol
Always thought about the Ibanez on the left. Never got one. At this point I'm low on space to get anymore 🤣 (currently have 9)
It's a great guitar. I was lucky enough to get it on sale for 1300 new. AlI bought 2 of the 3 to replace 2 other guitars I had for 15 years.
Wrote my first 2 new metal songs in almost a decade on it so I have been sure to put it to work!
Bro...whats this guitar...if you just got it today.
Out of all my guitars the one with the trem system stays in tune the best.
i think its quite old and havent got any maintenance in a lot of time
because the thing was quite dusty and the fretboard is very dehidrated
good thing is that i got a guy that can help me but i need to wait till monday 💀
Good morning peeps! What’s your favourite pickups in 2023? And why? I’m looking to swap mine out
stock pickups
but I use a Seymour-Duncan as the bridge pickup of my ESP and it's served me pretty well
idk exactly which model it is tho
still debating whether i buy new pickups or just a new guitar
the pickups i'd want would probably be the same price if not more than the guitar was so like
I would not generally suggest going to pickups as your first choice of upgrade. I say this as someone who has purchased "boutique" pickups like Lundgren Black Heavens before.
If a set of pickups costs as much as your guitar, I would likely look at upgrading the guitar first lol.
With guitars I would day feel is most important. Pickups mostly are a consideration in terms of humbuckers vs single coils. While there are differences between humbuckers, you can get a good metal tone out of just about any set if you know how to set up your amp and pedals.
What guitar do you have currently?
currently rocking the ibanez gio 7
seeing as it's kind of the "budget" 7 string i figure upgrades in general would be good, so i've been looking at new guitars and pickups
mostly interested in the matt heafy origins 7 and the new solar a1.7 29", which are surprisingly similarly priced, and i have played the heafy one myself so i know i like it (which is also why i want the pickups it has for my guitar)
I would set aside the pickup elements. Though if a guitar you want had what you want, all the better!
I think things like the bridge, tuners, nut, and neck shape are the main things to focus on.
Both of the ones you named are massive jumps in quality over a gio 7 so you would see a noticeable difference for sure.
also a massive jump in price 😅
Absolutely, but there are plenty of cheaper options too.
Also could go used!
I got my KM7 Hybrid for 800 used. Absolutely killer instrument.
idk if i can settle for cheaper man that heafster guitar was beautiful
and i dunno where i would look for used instruments
Reverb.com in the US. Guitar center/musicians friend as well
Lol, I am pretty sure they will still ship to Canada. I think k they service North America as a whole
For sure lol
I didn't adjust for us to cad so we were speaking different price language sadly

Even so, there are lots of cheaper instruments that are high quality.
Set a budget and then just be patient and try to catch a great deal. Especially in the used market, you can get some great deals
Shipping can definitely be brutal.
You have to watch out for it buying used as it allows some sellers to seem like it's a great deal and then they rip you off on shipping
i mean, to buy the guitar new is $1700, so for these prices i'll just save up and get it new lol
and then the solar one i mentioned is $1200+shipping
It can be a valid choice if you are married to a particular one and there aren't a lot of options.
One of the nice things about loving schecters is that they tend to have deeper discounts on used because they don't have the name power of like Fender and Gibson and their sub brands.
Reverb also has new. I bought my Ibanez 5121 new on there on a random sale for like 400 off normal price.
the other benefit is like three nearby long & mcquades have the heafy so i can just walk in and buy it and walk out with it
ye, they offer a free setup w/ string changes & electronics battery replacements
just the one tho
My guitar has apparently been though hell
Played my bassists spare guitar same guitar I use and it sounded so much better because it was brand new
have you... changed the strings?
Also might be time for another set up. Time and humidity can fo some damage lol
i should look at getting mine re set up
lil guy's had to stomach canadian weather for a year
Yes
Many times
I think it’s probably some sort of damage
I’ve had it since 2018 and I’ve used it mainly
Honestly wouldnt put prime pick ups in a gio
ye that's what i was thinking
its worth it for sure though
the biggest gap you'll ever see is the gap between 750ish and over 1k
around 1k is when you start to get some really good spec for the money
mainly schecter
SS frets, stainless floyd roses, wenge necks, fanned frets, sometimes good pickups
the nicest guitars ive played are all pretty expensive, stuff like e-ii, mayones and music man models
but honestly? i'd only go for those expensive brands if you're doing music seriously, or if you can find them used
i mean for me "expensive brand" is like abasi concepts or ernie ball music man
or strandberg for their higher end models
i'm fine with 1.7k for the heafy, cause it plays well from my experience and i want it, and i am going to use it, but i couldn't justify $3k instruments at this stage
You guys ready to see my axe?
I got when I was 15 and hardcore into Pantera and Slayer and all those bands lol 😬
lets see this
Schecter is alright but prefer Ibby for the price of most 'midrange' guitars
Yeah after around 1500 its gonna become diminishing returns
anyone know anything about a Montana MT-105-AF
Honestly the diminishing returns really kick on after 1k. Anything over 2k you are paying for things like it being handmade, signed, or something else that does not really make it a better instrument
That us fine, but it is worth keeping in mind
My Ibanez 5121 which retails for 1800 is not really better than my LTD EC-1000 Gold Andromeda which is apparently going for 1500 new. And the the EC 1000s that go for a bit cheaper (like 1100) are just as nice for the most part.
If you deal hunt and are fine with used, you can get amazing instruments around 1k, though it may require patience.
has anyone here ever tried the Ibanez RGMS8? once ive got the money im considering getting one and i just wanna make sure its a good investment
Guess it depends. If you want good pick ups you easily get closer to 1500 and if you want a good floating bridge as well. I think some stuff is a bit bells and whistles, but anywhere between 1000 and about 2000 tends to be a good price for most brands. Ironicaloy enough I think ESP nowadays has some of the most overpriced guitars after the reorganization of their brands. Before you could pick up new LTD EC-1000 for 800-1000 euros with the same specs you get nowadays. Decent guitar for a fair price back than but I dont think its worth the 1200-1500 they go for now. Theres way better stuff for that price
Brexit really fucked the UK up too with that. You can add up to roughly £500 to ESPs now. I bought mine for £1819... the same guitar is now £2,399
Dang...its an LTD or American ESP?
ESP E-II so from Japan
10 years ago I bought my LTD 1000 deluxe for 800
Ah yeah, 1800 is a very good price for Japanese guitars though
just broke a string and i got a floyd rose bridge :(
was hoping i could make them last until my a day or 2 before my performance but i guess i gotta change them now
Does anybody know how I could fix this? I don't want to spend the money on it for a repair as I got it for free from a family member and it's just cheaply made so it wouldn't be worth it. But if there's anything I can do at home by myself, that would be good.
I'm kinda expecting to trash it at this point but if there's anything, lmk
Yayyy!

Satire?
without testing i'm gonna guess this is weezer?
What is a good guitar to have 6-8 string under 450?
If you really want a good guitar for that price you are not gonna find it im afraid
I use a Ibanez rg600fm I think it’s pretty good
I will look at it
It’s like $350
And what are your thoughts on the Boss Katana 100 watt if you have used it
I haven’t
That Ibanez looks sweet!!
look for used guitars, what do you want one for?
it's decent, phrost can tell some things, i think it's pretty good for practicing, otherwise phrost recommended smth about the katana, i don't remember what specifically so you could ask him
I would want to sell my Ibanez it isn’t that great as I expected
@gritty garden sorry for the late but what are your thoughts on the Boss Katana100
It's a decent practice amp. If you're looking at one then defo go for one of the 100W models over the 50 just because it has more connectivity, plus 8 savable presets instead of four.
I got the head because it's small enough to take out into the garden or something as it has a small inbuilt speaker. Mine is now redundant as a Pre-Amp as I use a Quad Cortex so I only use the power amp section of it now.
The best bang for your buck though if you have a PC is still the digital route. An audio interface and a Neural DSP Amp Sim will provide a better tone for half the price.
What type of Ibanez? Its questionable whether any other new guitar below 450 is gonna be a significant improvement to be fair. For that price, what you generally get are: cheap pick ups, more often than not pretty shoddy fretwork, cheap nut and bridge. If you are just looking for a practice guitar in the bedroom thats all still useable, but for recording, gigging or rehearsing with a band I would try to see if I could spend a bit more for a new guitar or buy a good second hand one.
my local guitar shop has what i'm fairly sure is a 200W Katana for about $550 CAD, was thinking of getting it to replace my spider v30, would you recommend?
They don't do 200W Katanas
hmmm
If it's local just go try it out and see if you like the tones. I prefer the tones in it over my Blackstar: ID30TVP (which is suppoest to emulate a tube amp). I find the Blackstar has some weird frequencies I really don't like.
maybe it was 150? it was definitely more than 100
100W is the max they do.
cause the 100W model was closer to $250 and a lot smaller
uhhh
hmm
maybe it was just a bigger model then idk
It might have been a 100W 2x12
Which is just the 100W model with 2 12" speakers instead of a single 12" speaker
A lot of people get it because you can modify the signal chain in it to one of the below options, and it has a lot of the Boss Pedals in it - think of it like a BOSS ME-80, but with a cab.
i see
idk what ibanez you had and what style do you want to play? any specific bands? do you want a 6, 7, or 8 string the most?
well i'll head down to the shop to try it out maybe tomorrow
because i'm getting a big retro pay adjustment so if i like it i could prolly buy it right then and there
I just use it for the power amp now, so the thing that powers the cabinet.
E.g. Master Volume
🤣
haha fair enough
i just want something that has a better tone than the spider
like it's fine enough as a practice amp but with a seven string and drop tuning it sounds really muddy
and i also just can't get the kind of tone i want out of it
brown...
I mean you won't get close to a 5150 sound like that's used for most modern metalcore. But you might be happy with what you get.
Looks pretty neat
I mean, you can also get a modern metalcore sound with a bogner ubershall type of tone or a mesa triple rectumfrier
But nowadays I wouldnt think about buying a full amp tbh
Either modelling or sims
well, would i be able to get a model/sim for a 5150?
I mean... good example of an Amp Sim being used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmmh_A3zVcs

Steven plays Caparison Guitars -...
Yeah or the Nolly archetype has a 5150 style I believe
i did like archetype gojira when i used the trial, i was able to make a really trivium sounding rhythm tone
The Gojira one is pretty versatile
Most bands with a QC are using Chris's preset anyway according to Ryan from FFAK
With the Cabsim being the GGD Cali IR
Quad Cortex = Amp Modeller the size of a small pedalboard
Can be used to record/capture how different amps, cabs and some pedals sound. So instead of taking your amp heads, and massive speaker cabinet you could in theory take that.
I'm a boomer so was going to buy a proper analogue amp head... but for the same price I could get that, and have several amps at my disposal.
ohhh that’s what you meant by QC
i know what the quad cortex is but it’s still early in the morning and my head is fuzzy
but yeah idk exactly what tone I want i just know what I don’t want
Blue metal Chemleon Gio
Thanks for the help guys!
for $8000 that thing should fucking sweep pick itself god DAMN
that is genuinely the most expensive guitar I’ve ever seen
i dont even wanna know
especially if it's nashville
20k acoustic guitar signed by johnny cash himself and it's just like some starter yamaha or smth 😭
Yeah but he didn’t see it so does it really count 💀
The Game Of Thrones Fenders were like $20,000
They were made as a custom shop model to celebrate the show
they were special editions made for- yeah
i didnt read the fenders part at first so i was like huh
i wonder if they auctioned the starbucks coffee cup that was left on set during filming that no one bothered to edit out by the time it aired
actually that is kinda sick
oooh ok
I think they were like $25K, $30K, and $35K
this one i would totally play if i had
tbh its been so long since season 8 left that terrible final impression that i've just stopped caring about GoT altogether
i don't even remember half the house symbols i just know targaeryans had the dragon
There are scratches on the neck
🙁
From the stand
It doesn’t have a cap so sometimes it scratches the neck when I put it down
Ooof, the stand should have padding/rubber on it to protect it from happening
It’s also so prominent, but no one’s looking at the neck anyways
It’s that little bit
That’s sticking out
Oh yeah, don't like those. Always prefered Hercules stands.
I use a boat now
They are so much better
One of these things
I put a motion activated light under it so every time I go to pick up a guitar the stand lights ups
Yeah good touch. I have Hue Play Bars under my stand and behind my amp.
That reminds me, on my orange am I wedged a light up speaker between it and the wall and on the speaker I put a mini millennium falcon with a clear base, so whenever I turned the speaker on, the ship glowed
Actually I’m curious
What guitars do you play Phrost?
These #🎸-old-musician-talk message
Plus got a Kiesel since.
Beautiful collection man!
Hey guys, Been watching Nik for a while, but only just joined his discord.
A good 8 or so years ago i had all of my shit stolen out of a van while i was at a gig.
Several years later i'm soon going to be in the position to purchase gear that I'll be able to play venues with.
The problem i have is i'm entirely out of touch with regards to heads/cabs.
Does anyone have any reccomendations for a pairing that will be powerful enough to gig with (I've looked at a 4x12 5150 cab for example)?
Looking at spending around £1000 on the head+cab. Bonus points if the head comes with a footswitch?
https://www.thomann.de/gb/evh_5150_iconic_80w_top_bk.htm
https://www.thomann.de/gb/evh_5150_iconic_series_412_cab_iv.htm
Here is what i'm considering 🙂
Amp Head for Electric Guitar 2 Channels, Power: 80 watts, Preamp tubes: 2x JJ ECC83S (12AX7), Power amp tubes: 4x JJ 6L6, Channel 1: Gain control with overdrive switch, Channel 2: Gain control with burn switch and noise gate, Controls for low, mid,...
aww man that's a bummer
you sure you want an amp head and not a profiler?
like a kemper, axe fx, or quad cortex even? it's basically a mini computer where you plug your guitar and can choose out of many different amps
I'm hoping to start gigging again, so was thinking amp/head?
I know absolutely zero about profilers
Hell, a tonex with a FRFR cab is good shit. Just gotta get your effects pedals as well
FRFR cabs are active right? Those are the ones you plug in?
I've just looked up a tonex. They look incredible for the money to be fair
profilers are better i'd say
for gigs
what do you usually play?
As is genre?
maybe you could get a cheaper one, my friend uses hx stomp and his rig is quite minimalist, it can work greatly no matter if you're using IEMs or not
Almost exclusively metalcore
I'm really liking the look for the Tonex to be fair

As I'm setting up for a Gig this evening (a dodgy wedding, obviously) it made me think about some tip...
I'd just need to start looking into pedals. I used to use multi effects pedals (Not good ones either, relied on the amp and footswitch a lot)
ooo i've heard that it's very good and the price is great
The price is incredible
and it has the effects you need
also you can always run pedals before and after the profiler too
It was about time I do a video about my live guitar rig set up. This is what I run when I practice and play live shows. It's not too crazy but it works super well, and produces some nice djent tones for sure. Perfect for extended range guitars who focus on rhythm guitar like me.

That would be the research i need to do i guess. But i do like that you can like... load 3 amp presets at home before a gig. And then just take this little box with you
yes exactly
Would obviously need to take my FRFR cab, but still
yep
some venues have their own sound systems where you can connect so even a cab is not super necessary but is still a great thing to get
I think that answers my questions to be honest. You guys have been awesome help honestly.
if you decide for a profiler i could try and hook you up with someone who knows about building rigs, i really like andrew's it's very minimalist
aww i'm glad we could help
Andrew's would probably be the way to go
I've got 3 kids. So the less tone nobs they can fuck with t he better
hahaha exactly
I'm giga excited to Get a guitar back on my lap honestly
My missus is coming into some inheritance. And is giving me some to get everything which is nice af
Yeah... Literally worst experience of my life so far, honestly.
It wasn't like expensive stuff. I was your typical 21 year old playing in dive bars every other weekend metal guitarist. But it was MY shit. So gutting.
But, i never had what i would class as an 'Expensive' Guitar.
yeah, it's still very frustrating
same really
https://www.jacksonguitars.com/en-GB/guitars/pro-series/pro-series-monarkh-sc-lh/2916903503.html
This is 100% what i'll be getting
i've been playing for 10 years and the most expensive one i have is the gretsch supersonic baritone which goes for around 500-600, got it used for 450
That's a lot of guitar for not a lot of money though
looks sick, if you want more lefty options you can also look at schecter
I had a Schecter omen 7. That was one of the guitars that got stolen
And like, it FELT okay to play, i just couldn't get on with it very well
i like this kind of stuff, if it works it works, having a cheap ibanez never stopped me from creating. I wrote half of my band's album with it before i got an upgrade
Back when i thought Drop G made me heavy af
oh i see, maybe it was that because of it being omen
but also could be the neck
those were the days
my band plays metalcore-ish pop rock so we chose Bb as our tuning, ended up moving down to drop F
DAMN SON
That escalated quickly
I don't need a 7 string. I'm more than happy in drop C-A
I was young and naive back then
Had a very "But this goes up to 11" mentality back then
it took me too long to figure out how to tune my 7
Bro don't
When i first got my 7 string. I tuned it to drop C (I know...) And just tuned the extra string to C aswell
metal af
oooh a question i've never needed to ask because i've never had one
That Monarkh has Active pickups. Which is obviously 9v battery stuck in it's butt
When i'm not playing, do i take the battery out?
nope
just make sure guitar isnt connected
it doesn't do anything bad, just drains it faster
Alright awesome, ty
Hoping i can get it all bought in the very near future. I know guitar is somewhat like riding a bike. You don't forget.
But unfortunately, my fingertips are soft and not ready for the pounding they're gonna take
maybe it will be fine
good luck with starting it out again, i'm glad the creativity won in the end
I love the optimism. But it'll suck. It's okay haha
Yeah me too
Thank you so much for your help. Really appreciate it!
you're welcome! no one deserves such things happening to them
Such is life!
not to interrupt or anything but i just bought the archetype abasi and i'm trying to get a good lead preset made cause i don't want to rely on the presets, how does this sound?
also the riff is actual dogwater i know but bear with me
That tone is dope
yep sadly, but now you can get back into it

i did use the toby morelli preset as a starting point
the problem i find, around the 40 second mark, that's my 7th string
and it sounds really shitty
so i need to figure out how to make that sound not like a tin can, but also keep the rest of the strings sounding clean
Someone with some more knowledge is probably required to help you on that front. But i see what you mean
Yeah like Gaffy said, just make sure you unplug the cable. Same as when you put a 9v in a pedal. Putting a cable in completes the circuit and will drain the battery.
ok fixed the issue, i just needed to up the bass on the fx pedals
now i have a silky lead tone and no lead guitar skills
Story of my life
For me, I would just need one tone for the whole set
Because we just play Hardcore death core slam stuff
I already have a pretty good fender amp that cost $1200 I just need a head probably
whats hardcore deathcore slam without a silky smooth shredding lead
Well, we only have me as a guitar so
The ideal situation would be to just use archetype gojira into my amp like I do in practice
We basically do slammy hard-core
does anyone wanna start a project band?
i'd say yes if i thought i was good enough to be in a band

i could be like a groupie or smth tho
lmao feel that
to be fair i'd love to cuz i've always been searching for vocals to put on my instrumentals but idk if i feel like joining a band online and all the stuff that creates around it
I play guitar but i program bass and drums
i play guitar and i can't program bass or drums for shit
or write my own parts
i can play written stuff decently well with some practice tho so uh
this is the last track i made to give you an idea of what i make it's more hardcore than what i usually make tho and i mixed it myself too
also i might try quad track the guitars to see what i can do with it
and this is more of what i usually make
and i'm solo on this
oh also im a mega nerd and i'd want to make songs based on video games or anime or smth so if i was in a band and they asked me to write smth
you better believe we gettin nerdy
i'm learning screaming and i have lyrics and toplines for the 1st one i sent
but i have to wait to get back from vacations to start recording and not sound like shit
and the 2nd one i've already played it live at my music school lmao
nice!
i mean the track is pretty easy so that's why i chose that one to play
and the other one didn't exist at that time
it would have been funny to play that disgustingly heavy bullshit at my music school where the heaviest thing you can get is basically AC/DC
or scorpions
so this is what i used for both of the track with archetype petrucci for the tone
my 1st guitar was an ibanez GIO and i just can't play it anymore it's destroying my fingers
the sharp edges on the frets
also this is all my guitars in the order i got them :
Ibanez GRG170
Ibanez RGAT62
Ibanez RG7420Z
ESP LTD JL-600 Jeff Ling signature
Schecter Demon 7 White
Solar S1.7APP Poplar Purple Burst
that's a hot guitar
and yeah i'm already in too many projects
even had to leave the big 6
and it sounds and play amazing too
qc?
correct
oh yea i can see that
i've noticed some things on the fretboard but it's not bothering in any means tho neither sound wise nor feeling wise
it's very minor tbh
yea it's like max 2-3mm
hopefully not deep
This is the only issues i have with the guitar
where's the green
on the clover sticker on the headstock
Now that’s a green bastard
Fair enough
its definitely teal
Old stuff is great
I’m not super into guitars or basses but I found this old mosrite ventures bass at a music store and it sounded amazing
I would’ve taken it home if I had two thousand dollars but I’m broke
I almost got the RG8 but went with a Schechter omen 8 was a hard choice
I like the finish on the bass a lot
I wish it looked like that in real life
Idk what my camera did but it looks better
RG8 was an impulse buy cause it was used at guitar center right before I did a song with an eight string
just dropping by to say something cursed: I apparently learned how to do a pinch harmonic before I learned how to do barre chords properly
I also did that lmao
isnt that 7 string majesty 25.5" tho?
but it's still considered extended range since it has 7 strings
Zakk Wylde sends his regards
bro im losing motivation to pick up the guitar or even do vocals
idk if its cuz im too lazy to walk to get my guitar or im just lazy af in general
think of all the chicks you could pick up by shredding on stage
doesnt work with the one chick im thinking of
think of more chicks
but fr tho
if you're losing motivation, that means you need to keep working at it until you find that motivation
can't wait for it to come back to you, you just gotta keep pushing ahead
if nothing else, pick one singular technique and practice it every day until you're sick of it and would rather practice literally anything else
Hey, what are your guys' thoughts on learning guitar on a 7 string? (I've also got smallish hands) I found a killer deal on an Ibanez RG7421, and I do listen to a lot of 7 string bands (Trivium, Suicide Silence).
i got a seven string last summer and never looked back
Hell yeah
it dont matter so long as you're learning
what's "easy" might only be that way once you've mastered it
I literally only use a six if I need to play chords after I got extended range guitars
This
I used to not be able to play smoke on the water with power chords
Aha nice. Yeah I might go with it. I'll just need to work on lots of finger stretching exercises lol
Nice thing about seven strings is that you can play most modern metal on them as long as you have high enough gauge strings
me trying to play eight string carcosa songs on a dropped 7
Seven strings only became a problem for me when I discovered animals as leaders
Then I got an eight and now I still can’t play mindspun but it’s not for a lack of strings anymore
Oh hey does anyone know where to get good sweeping shapes that use eight strings preferably in drop e
Too lazy to find songs that use those myself
And not good enough at guitar to make them
Nevermind I took that thing from nephele and extended it
best way to regain motivation
learn an easy song that you’ll be able to play all the way through
and happiness 📈📈📈
Hi everyone 🌸
Trying my luck here! I (vocalist) along with a friend (drummer) wish to put up a band with pro ambitions. We both have past experience (studio, live, etc.) in different band. Influences are bands such as Spiritbox, Sleep Token, Loathe, Thornhill, Invent Animate, Moodring, ...
Mainly looking for musicians (guitar/bass) with song writing ability and living around central Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, North of France, ...).
Feel free to send me a DM if you're interested ✨
(don't hesitate to tell me if there's a more appropriate chan to put this, new here)
I've got a question concerning pedals and pedalboards, I'm a fairly new bass player self taught and making decent progress for 6 months and I want to setup a small pedalboard for a small budget consisting of a morley fuzz wah, and I'm not quite sure what overdrive pedal I'd want and what compressor I'd want, And for said pedalboard should I consider buying an actual power supply or start off with something cheaper like daisy chain, any suggestions would be lovely.
Can't help on the pedal suggestions but definitely buy a power supply with isolated outputs. What can happen with the daisy chains especially with overdrive pedals is you can create ground hum... Which if you're throwing through 2 overdrive pedals will amplify it ten fold.
Plus it's nice knowing that each thing has its own clean power source from the brick.
Any suggestions for a power supply that are on the cheaper end?
Not sure I've not looked in a minute tbh.
Here's an example of what I mean https://youtu.be/EOqNaSZhDoY
How To Get Rid of Noisy Pedals
Correction The RED power cable is for reverse polarity and NOT higher voltages. My bad!
Check Voodoo Labs out here: http://bit.ly/2o1LfwV
I use Voodoo Labs Pedal Power Mondo for my pedalboard, take a look at the other featured in this video!
Mondo - http://bit.ly/2mN5s8K

ISO-...
I think I got the 1Spot Pro CS7 which is about £130. Just look at the milliamps and voltage of your pedals to check if the power supply you're looking at will meet the requirements.
Sure thing, thanks for the advice 👍
You might get lucky though. A daisy chain might serve you well short term though until you can afford something better, fyi.
Just learn triads across the fretboard
And the inversions. Dont get stuck in shapes
Banger
Si
I keep forgetting how hard these old Whitechapel songs are
Vicer Exciser is fucking tough
Shit I need to learn to write a guitar solo in like four hours
Anyone here use Harley Benton guitars?
Also, whatchu guys think of this riff? I’m new to writing still so critique is totally welcome!
guys
does a jazzmaster baritone neck need modification for a normal jazzmaster body
i really wanna have the loathe guitar but its way too limited and its a lot cheaper if i modify it myself
I think the 1st issue you might have is wrong intonation, cuz the bridge might not be at the right place considering the spacing of the frets on the neck for the correct scale length
does that mean
a load of
buzzing
and constantly going out of tune
well it's more like the 0 is in tune but everthing else is out of tune
no mater the intonation
ok so
what's a solution for that
like what should i be looking for when crafting that
but you have to check if the bridge is placed at the right place already if not you will have to change the bridge's place
but it might already be in the right place
you just have to check
well cause
there IS a jazzmaster baritone but
its relatively expensive
and i thought that if there's a model already made
maybe the parts would be
already suited for each other?
or am i hella wrong o nthat one
to be fair idk if the neck of the baritone fits a normal jazzmaster the only way you can check prior getting the neck is doing mesurements
