I have, but I'm not confident I did a very good job of it. When I started using the map I was at 2 bones remaining, and after checking all of the points and giving up I managed to find one in a place I had already checked. The last bone is probably one that I checked near but somehow missed.

T.T ya, that is about my luck. I was careful to make sure I never picked up a bone that didn't immediately get delivered so my best guess is it glitched out at some point. Tried duplicating a bone in a backup save to see if it was fixable but it seems to want that specific bone to finish the quest.

The only thing it's doing is not triggering the flag to turn the glow off. It's still a bone. It's location is still saved. It's still deleted when put into the box

One of two things happened on this save and shimmy needs to stfu right now

  1. you managed to displace the bone. Rare but it happens. When they displace, they fall through the terrain and respawn a few feet in the air above the location they fell through at. When this happens, they tumble around based on physics
#

So if this happened, whelp it could be in the river or lava where I can't possibly spot it

#

Or 2) you simply hopped into your truck after grabbing one and it wasn't fully locked in to the bed yet and tumbled out somewhere. So it has no glow anymore making it incredibly difficult to spot

#

Leaning towards #2 since one requires almost deliberate stupidity to achieve

Could I very easily swap back any time I want, yes. Do I feel like it, not really because it requires several steps to restore my save files (one of which I use for these bone finds) and tweaking settings such as enabling the dlc all over again

Pretty much have to do a save file backup and restore and mess with steam settings and reinstall everything. Having the dlc enabled crashes the old builds. The save files are totally different so it's gotta be goofed with to maintain them. etc etc

For whatever reason, starting the dlc save in remoteplay can cause bones to sometimes spawn in a little deeper in the ground. Usually not a problem since they stick out still but I have seen one spawn in deep enough to not be visible by sight

Kinda helps me narrow down how to try checking this knowing beforehand. If you started the dlc in multiplayer, then I should focus on checking the ground where the bones spawn to see if one got sunk. If not, I need to check anywhere you could've dropped it out the truck

@sharp parcel I edited "pickedup" tag in saves, with hope that bone will return in spawner(what didnt happen), but highlighting turned on and I finally have found it. Thanks a lot, you motivate me!

Kinda disappointed in myself for not doing a check at the exact bone locations. I went around every crevice, hill and river it could've tumbled into a handful of times

This is a super complicated situation, I had already checked this place several times before and did not see the rib because it perfectly merged with the landscape, as you can see in the screenshot. And only after highlighting, when I had already found exactly where to look, I finally noticed it without cheating

Orange glow still should've been a dead giveaway. That one gets missed a lot because you can't see it from the road since it's elevated and has a small bit of hill obscuring it

If you parked on an angle and dropped it into the back of your vehicle and it slid out before it could stick, it could be lying just about anywhere. I checked the river thoroughly as well as around the two volcano spawns including the lava rivers nearby. No luck. Those are the usual spots people accidentally drop them. Can't do much beyond that and really that's kinda going above and beyond what this thread is for to begin with. Might want to ask Itchy to use the dev engine if he has a free moment since he can ping them with a command

I'm almost convinced i checked every area with possible spawns (note: its 2:40am and im somewhat sleep deprived)

huh. I opened the game and turned in the bones I had, (still missing the three) and it gave me the achievement even though I didn't complete the quest. the skeleton isn't complete. I think it's because I had another save that was nearly done as well, and steam just counted the number of bones turned in, not if the current save has all of the bones.

Bad news: it's not at any spawn point. Meaning you dropped it somewhere on accident. I can't find accidents

Good news: you're playing creative and likely modded based on what I'm seeing and aren't getting achievements and can wand as much tokens as you want. So you don't really need that bone

Probably somewhere in lava or in some partially dug plot

The most common mistakes are either parking on an angle and it sliding out of the truck or jumping into the truck at an angle so it's not locked on the bed then it flings out. So typically see missing ones on the road or river, not the lava or in a plot

solo they always appear correctly. mp though they can sometimes load in rotated odd. If they truly go beneath the terrain, the game makes them spawn a few feet above and fall back down. Way harder for me to find since they aren't where they belong, but they still glow since they haven't been touched by a player

If you got a map on you, you can drop it a few times on the bone to see for yourself

So instead of picking it up, just keep dropping the map on it til it goes through the snow

Then wait a second while looking up

Max put a failsafe in for items that fall through the world but it takes some "fun" to make it happen
