You don't really need express Ammo early on, unless you are doing like tier 4 or tier 5 bounties. If you are having trouble killing enemies early, a Good ol Shotgun does the trick.

Both pistols are good. Paint and Gunslingers will turn both the semi auto and the mausers into literal machine guns. You'll melt fools.

To add to this, Gunslinger's Choice has a special effect on Semi-Autos that makes them deadly accurate compared to every other sidearm. So if you're running Gunslinger's Choice, use Semi-Autos for sure.

Although I personally wouldn't use Gunslinger's Choice with Paint it Black because it's kind of pointless imo. Paint it Black gives you perfect accuracy anyway, and just the damage boost from GSC isn't enough to warrant using up a card slot. So if you're just using Paint it Black but not GSC, I'd use the Mausers.

Then it turns out that I need to pay a ton of gold bars, OR be a rank 5 trader. I get back to camp, and see that the butchering table costs 15 gold bars

15 gold bars each for the original three roles wasn't really a grind because many people had that ready to go.
