If you're on console, I believe it pulls your friends list. PC you use social club. Console you can use social club as well if you want.

In my opinion (I just play for a week so someone might give other advise) Try to do some bloodmoney missions and your daily challanges they will give some gold which makes you buy those roles
Then the order should be BH, Collector, Trader, Moonshiner, Naturalist
And the storyline missions also give some decent starting cash
and wait for the timer to reach 00:30 seconds left for the most $$$$

for collections google rdr2 map online for fast going.
Things were easy before they made daily challenge reset. 7 gold per day from all challenges on week3-4 now 0,5x i recommend personally having bounty hunter active and doing collections or hunting animals for 10 min for each expect legendary bounty until week2-3 unless those daily challenges are easy and take less than 5 minute . Do 1 challenge to keep it going though.

i'd say it depends on your playing style
if you like balanced guns use the navy
the lemat can be both a revolver and a shotgun, you can switch ammo type
the schofield is slow but very accurate and has a lot of damage
they're all good and the best one to use relies on your playing style and how comfortable you'd be using any of them
i'd personally recommend the navy revolver because it's easy to use
