Apparently prestigious is also on sale this week though, so for the price of normal bounty (15 gold) you can get both of them for 15 gold.
Right, yeah, you complete 3 legendary bounties, you'll get an offer to buy the prestigious license for 10 gold, and regular BH is on sale for 5 gold, so instead of 30 gold (15+15) you can get both licenses for 15 total.

Some dude attacked me while I was delivering mail but I killed him and downed his horse multiple times and he only killed me once, and while I was doing a second delivery I shot him and he said someone with voice chat and ran into a thing and he flipped over and died, then I proceeded to shoot his horse in the head so it took longer for him to catch up and eventually I made it to my destination without anything after that incident

It automatically deactivates itself if you fight back, though
But generally, players are less inclined to attack anyone they see using defensive mode

Yep, you lose the reduction if you change sessions. I believe you also lose it if you do anything that triggers a change, like joining a showdown or loading into a legendary bounty mission.

honestly, I wouldn't even bother to reduce the cost unless you're really hurting the cash. It's what like 20 minutes for a total of 40 dollar reduction? in that time you could do a bounty and get some gold out of it.
