so u dont just click on default theres diff options, free roam, race, story, u have to set all of them to the horse of ur choice, was also struggling w this and found that out this week, its in player menu> stables> cant remeber what else

everyone gets a scrawny nag if you don't own a horse, but you should have a coupon to buy a free horse - either Tennessee walker, Morgan, or Kentucky saddler. and another coupon to purchase a free saddle - i don't exactly remember which saddles but you can check the description of the coupon & it will tell you. to view the coupons go to pause menu>benefits>and they should all be listed there for you. just go to any stable and redeem them.

hey! I started last month and my only advice as to how to get better is simply by playing. there are some really friendly players I meet on the road and a few of them even gave me gifts. I think my biggest struggle so far is aiming. like when I try to kill another player during a game, I gotta shoot multiple times while more experienced players shoot me once in the head even when I'm on the run and I'm instantly dead lol

once you buy the butcher table you have to do 1 start up mission, i believe its just getting your small wagon and some supplies. after that donate pelts/carcasses/animal parts to your butcher table and sell your wagon at every 1 good until you reach max rank. its the same amount of xp as if it were a full wagon.

as for perfect kills different animals require different weapons. generally a rifle will work but for smaller animals you'll need to use small game arrows or the varmint rifle. if you study/show info on animals it will tell you what to use to get a perfect kill.

the varmint rifle has 2 different ammo types, regular and sedative, just switch to regular when you want to kill the smaller animals.
at your butcher table when it says 1/100, sell it. you'll get the same amount of xp for selling it. it doesn't need to be a full wagon

if you want to level up trader quickly then selling a wagon at every 1 good instead of waiting to get 25 is better. i believe for a small wagon its 250xp so by the time you wait for 25 goods you could've made roughly 6k xp.

you're only other options for earning gold is stranger missions & i think blood money missions too (not too sure on that one) & opening treasure maps when you can. the longer you let the timer expend the more money/gold you'll get from the missions.
