Play free roam missions until you have enough gold. They pay 3x gold, money and xp this month. If you set a timer at the very start of the mission, you can potentially make 0.96 gold after 12min (depending on how much time the game gives you). If the timer at the top is less than 12min, hand in either at 6 or 9min (0.48 or 0.72 gold). Just be careful, some missions can invite pvp.
Once you have enough gold, buy the collector role - it's on sale this month for 10 gold. Just by discovering collectables, you'll gain 3x xp and selling full sets reward 3000xp. I'd generally focus on alcohol bottles and the four tarot card sets (maybe even the flowers). They're the easiest to find and it takes about 2 hours to collect all of them, depending on how efficient you are.
Once you've purchased the collector role, I'd personally combine collecting with free roam missions. Start a mission and collect along the way - it makes the grind much faster but it's up to you.

Get 2fa authentication from rockstar for the free ten gold. Participate in random free roam missions, you get gold just for participating. There’s also some other missions you get in the mail, that give gold.
Eventually you should get enough gold for a role. I’d suggest you start with collector role since there’s a bonus to it this month. Turn in full sets. You get decent cash but no gold. Keep doing dailies to build a streak. You get gold from turning in awards. (Eg 1000 kills with a headshot with rifle, $1000 spent at a store etc, you get .4 gold for completing each and can be repeated) keep doing dailies and build a streak until you get gold for another. Maybe trader or bounty hunter. I suggest saving naturalist for last, it’s fun but the rewards are probably worst)

There is no reason to rush through this, I’m basically at the end, I have all roles, outfits and guns and it’s like “I sped through it, should have taken more time to enjoy it”. Hunting legendaries is still fun .

Assuming you’re talking about rdo, not rdr2. You should be able to click left, click stable, click “horse” when it asks you to choose horses or wagons, then click the horse you want. In rdr2 you don’t get to choose your horses or items when replaying missions

The great thing about the map is it follows and changes with the cycle of the collectables. Just don't be like me make sure to refresh your page if you notice the collectables aren't matching up

I usually grind the Bounty Hunter role because its the only one that directly pays you with gold but someone said earlier that free roam missons and stranger missions are a good way to get gold too. Looting bodies is a good way to get treasure maps which give you gold too, but they are rare to find off a dead body so:P

For the first week or 2 just make sure you do one daily task per day to keep the streak going. After you have a good 2 or 3 week streak and want to sink some time in, you get a lot more gold from doing daily tasks with a 3 or 4 week streak. So I’d suggest you pace yourself if your trying to get gold for roles

Exactly. That’s why I suggest making it a more productive use of time for the first couple weeks to just do the dailies a little then log out . After a few weeks and you have time to sit and play for hours one day you can do as many dailies as you can when you have a good streak going
The rewards after a 28 or 30 day streak are downright silly, just for doing dailies

Naturalist is probably the worst for getting golden money, however, hunting legendary pelts is very good for materials and trader needs a lot of materials. Naturalist also has some of the nicest outfits in the game. I recommend doing the other roles first. Basically all of the other rules are either good for getting cash or getting cold or both.
Also, Harriet gives a little speech about animals and a little story before sending you off on one of the missions to collect a legendary sample. That is why I said Harriet is hilarious.
I mean some of the missions and the like the legendary bounties, those are pretty damn funny as well. The cult figure, the wolf man, well all of them really.

The telegrams are useless imo. Idk about the other letters, but the telegrams you’ll need at least around 6-8 ppl to help you. I forgot what rewards you get, but basically you do shootouts with enemies (I think each one is diff im not sure) and idk how many rounds there are, but the higher the round is the more enemies there are.

For the rest of September the best way to make money is the collector role. Buy the role for 10 gold, then collect full sets of items and turn them in. To get a quick ten gold you sign up for 2fa authentication and get ten gold.

I recently reset my character and experience the same thing and I've been just avoiding the story missons because of it. It's down to people not being available as you probably guessed. You can try creating a posse and setting it to ''open'' so people can join willing and basically kidnap them and force them into doing the misson with you... That's unlikely though so if you're on Steam and still can't find anyone I am happy to help you with that misson

I went for the main campaign, im currently playing multiplayer. It has been great and awful at the same time. Meeting great people and they are kind enough to teach a few ropes
save gold and money first few mission runs. if you are playing a very high level mission buy tonics ! they give you armor like bonuses to your health and stamina allowing you to tank the bullet damage from enemies.,

I try to combine naturalist with trader. Pick up a naturalist mission, kill the legendary animal and take its pelt. Give the pelt to Crips for a massive amount of materials. By this point, I know which legendary missions are super short.. banded gator, milk coyote, elk, I think one or two others like the ram
Harriet’s missions rotate every 48 minutes
If you were just starting out, you can make your camp near Lagras and just kill gators and skin them and give the skins to crips. Or perfect dear pelts.. trader gets a lot easier when you have naturalist

It's random whether they insta kill you. If they lunge, use your melee button to get an execution - you can either stomp them to death by pressing it twice or shoot with your weapon

If you need help lvl up and earning money I would highly recommend you get the collector role to find the collectibles the prize for the role is 10 gold but worth it but you can get some gold from free roam missions and when you have some money I would highly recommend spending your money on a mustang horse with a good saddle and stirrups you can use the collectors map on google to find your collectibles easier

If you really want to buy a horse the mustang is a good early choice but honestly you’re fine with a starter horse
I would suggest spending your money on a Lancaster repeater, or maybe a Shofield, revolver, or better ammo. As soon as it’s available to you, get the bull action, rifle, and probably Carcano but you need to be higher level for almost all of those
For saddles I’d wait until you can get either nacadoches or upland. Those are the two best by far, I would definitely not suggest getting all of the ones in between, just get the very best and forget about the rest, as it’s a waste of money.
Oh, if you don’t have the bow, definitely get that as soon as you can, and also the improved bow

Horses can be healed at the stables for a small fee. I'd suggest to always buy horse insurance when you get a new one. There are a lot of trigger happy players out there and some npc's can land fatal shots.

Being a moonshiner relies on you chipping in money for ingredients etc so its good to get ahead with collector

You can always start with the standard and get prestigious later. You still need to complete the standard levels first before the extra 10. You're better off getting bounty hunter now, and upgrading to prestigious when you've almost maxed it

the interactive map shows every location + you can use the custom route generator and it’ll do everything for you. I filter the guaranteed sets and generate a route and then I just set waypoints and use cinematic mode so my horse bringse there automatically 🤷 pretty easy

You could also just complete the first two waves (0.6 gold), die and restart the cta continuesly. You earn up to 6 gold an hour and waste no tonics.

It might not have registered. I've noticed that happen when you complete a challenge on the day it resets. If it's been more than 72hrs try submitting a ticket to Rockstar, maybe they'll help you out or compensate you at least.

Mustangs are best value for money. Fastest horses would be the mfts, thoroughbreds, roadsters, and criollos. The arabs are a bit slower but accelerate better than the other horses. Again, this is purely stat wise. The difference is miniscule

There are two types of treasure map encounters. It can either be on a tree or you can purchase or steal a map from a treasure hunter. Since you've already collected the tree one, there'll be a 72h cooldown on that specific encounter. Though you can still find a treasure hunter.
I'd suggest using the jeanropke map (type into any web browser) for all the possible spawn locations. You also receive a treasure map every 5 levels, which can be collected from your lockbox.

Just play ctas if you want to farm gold. Pick the Tumbleweed map and complete the first two waves, die on the 3rd wave and instead of abandoning, restart the mission. Rinse and repeat. You can make up to 6 gold an hour.

Buy the collector bag, ANYTHING useful over the Halloween pass. All it is is cosmetics besides oh wow 9 bolas but really you only need the 3 regular bolas from fence so that wraps around to the same point that it’s useless to buy it. Just an effort from rockstar to make people spend money on gold
