when going to menu, the thing that pops out of the left on the screen. go to stables, and access the Stable menu, then go to the "Horses" option, and select "Specialty". From there, you can choose the mission type and select the desired horse for that type of activity. Make sure the chosen horse has a saddle equipped.

you can select a certain horses of your own on certain activities like races, missions, free roam etc

cus another horse of yours was selected instead of the horse that you usually use

what i do is use one horse for everything

so i dont have to switch horses

I do em challanges but some are just plain annoying, what do awards mean? Also, i did all the treasure maps and am level 30 so i wont get anymore soon

Awards are in the esc menu when you go awards and they're in different categories. There's all sorts of challenges like craft items or get headshots with a repeater or whatever and when those reach max, you can usually reset them to get I think 0.4 gold bars. The ones you can reset can be reset ten or nine times until they reach rank X (rank 10) and after that they can not.

You can still find treasure maps from treasure hunters or stuck to a tree or loot from enemies, loot from boxes in bandit hideouts. Rewards and reaching your personal reset day of daily challenges.

I just reached my dailies reset day. On my last week every daily challenge gives me 0.25 gold bars + there's a bonus for 7/7 and 9/9 role challenges.

iron lung - damage reduction based on your stamina amount
fool me once - take less damage each shot

sharpshooter - more damage with scoped weapons
unblinking eye - less deadeye drain

i prefer the one that gives you deadeye when you headshot

if you use it right you have infinite deadeye instead of slower deadeye drain and the deadeye mainly drains when using paint it black

unblinking eye is good with the ability card that makes your horse not get agitated

so if your just against one or two other people in PVP you cant really get that much use out of it

heres some of my tips

• if you want to get started with making money try doing the story/tutorial missions they give you extra stuff on your first completion of each mission and can earn you a decent amount of gold/cash for a beginner
• look into getting roles as soon as possible, they're by far the best way to earn money in the game, especially bounty hunter and collector (i think trader also but i havent done too much of that)
• dont neglect ability cards, they're really important for both PvE and PvP, You can get the paint it black ability card for free which is pretty similar to how deadeye works in the story mode
• dont try picking fights in free roam, most players just want to mind their own business, but high levels will still have no problem absolutely ruining you if you try and start a fight with them at a low level
• tonics are really good, just in general
• horses dont really matter too much as long as you get a good saddle/stirrups you should be good

or do the story missions, which should get you around 10 gold bars and then blood money missions + daily challenges for the rest

oh also in settings make sure you turn on free aim
even if you are on PC/not using a controller
you get bonus xp for every kill if you do

Collect whatever, the placements for collectibles are changed every day, only ones that won't show are ones you have in your inventory unless you sell them, then it will come back after 24 hrs. Theres certain collectibles that belong to sets (ie cards belong to certain card sets, it will show you under the collectors role information) and if you sell the sets versus individual items you get way more money and exp

I feel like it can take longer to get money with collector even if you make more because of the time it takes to roam the map completing sets, especially if you get sidetracked with getting randomly attacked etc. But moonshine is cool because you get the shack and the bar and band to hang with friends and you get it started and the cook does the rest while you can go off doing other things

what do people recommend for hunting the legendary animals? like weapons and stuff, i always just die lol

I use the horse with the "Slow and Steady" card in the Dead Eye Abilities slot, this way you don't get attacked or unhorsed as long as you have the dead eye active.

I chew tobacco when I spot the animal and unload my Repeating Shotgun (loaded with basic ammo) with the dead eye active.

For passive cards I use "The Unblinking Eye", "Winning Streak" and "Peak Condition" in this order of importance.

I don't think there is a universal answer, the first thing I would say is that it depends a lot on what you like to do.
I spent my first dollars on clothes and for me having a character I like was a priority...

If you're just starting out and playing pve, all the weapons are usable and there are no key items that come to mind, unless you tell me you've already chosen specific things you want to do.

Rather, there are things NOT to buy when starting out... like some objectively underperforming cards... or like many things related to horses, such as insurance and fence recipes... but that's a long discussion.

it makes sense to kill NPCs to slowly but easily increase your familiarity with weapons, but there are several opportunities to shoot with ulterior motives, so if you mean if it makes sense to go around shooting on sight, then no... also because non-aggressive NPCs I don't even think they count for familiarity with weapons.

For me playing online is more about the social interaction with other players than completing the tasks.. theres always more ways to play if you think outside the box. You could probably create a scavenger hunt race, some people host trail rides, etc. Plus with every time spent online even if visting the same place youre experience will be different. Ive been playing 3 years and still learning and seeing new things on the map or new silly encounters or something funny to laugh over.
