Definitely taking part in bounties right now and doing your dailies (at least one every day to keep the streak going). Also making health tonics and other "gold" tonics" can give you some too. This is what I've found so far as I didn't put actual money into the game to get roles so slowly building my own up to get my first role.

if you are beginning save up for Lancaster repeater and navy revolver, pick up the bolt action when you can.. use that for hunting and lrc (body shots) don’t buy rolling block and save for carcano.. shotguns the meta is semi auto, but i find using pump/repeating is much more satisfying (you should be using pib markers w shotguns) i am basic and pretty much only use lancaster, carcano and doubly navy’s

others may have different styles but that is just mine

Evans has a really loud noise when you shoot it, it’s unique iirc but it can get annoying

another thing i’ll mention is springfield is better for hunting but you can use bolt action for that and combat until lancaster unlock

Also if you play gta online you can get a free navy revolver until you can buy an offhand if you haven’t already, plenty of videos about it

Whats the difference between the Pump Action Shotgun and Repeating Shotgun? I'm not sure which one to buy. From the general overlook they look practically the same except the Repeating Shotgun has 1 more ammo capacity.
