Treasure hunts, whenever you get a map watch a yt video on how to complete it. Also loot every enemy, I mean every single one, you'll be able sell their loot to fences later, if you met the fence in Emerald Ranch, that's the closest to Valentine. Also if you got a lot of tonics you're not planning on using, sell those too. Selling Wagons and Horses are just a waste of time. At the beginning of chapter 3 you can start robbing train which yield around $250 per raid, problem is it lowers your honor A LOT and if you're slow law will get you and you'll get a hefty bounty. I recommend robbing stores with mask on, take the money and gtf out of there ASAP. Do not shoot anyone as that will instantly alert law. A civilian will probably report the crime but since they never saw your face you can't get a bounty. Just run outside red area and avoid law, remove mask to not sus law when you go back.

Some stores have special robberies you can do to get new weapons or additional money. For example the doctor in Valentine has a secret backroom you can unlock via watching the backwindow. You'll get a free new weapon and if you open the safe with dynamite some extra cash too

Basically don't buy any weapons until you completed all robberies to get free weapons. Every weapon in the game you can get for free or via quest. It just takes time. If you really can't wait for a weapon you favor or for a secondary revolver/pistol it can be worth it to buy em'

Some will give free weapon of choice or one free item at a convenience store. I recommend always picking the most expensive option, and in general stores, pick outfits as they around 70-120$, while a pack of cigg are 1$

Also, challenges and random encounters always give cash. It's a little but still something. If you find gangs robbing safes or strangers digging for gold, always rob them

It was a side quest, pretty early in the game, you activate it in a town where in a mansion you find a witchy lady arguing with a sort of pelt collector. She's asking you if you are interested in doing some botanic research and eventually gives you psychedelics in this quest. The men is a rich guy interested in hunting legendary animals if I recall correctly
