You do encounter shootouts from time to time but their nowhere near as absurd as they are in online.

There's honestly next to no meta for Single Player, use whatever guns and horses you like.

You can genuinely plough through the story campaign with the cattleman, carbine repeater, and whatever else with no problem.

My standard Loadout for Arthur tends to vary on what I'd want, otherwise it's generally either a Cattleman with a sawn off in the offhand, and a carbine repeater with springfield rifle too, or switching out the cattleman and carbine for a Schofield and Lancaster

The Bison is a super aggravating animal to 3 star. the hair on its face sometimes clouds its eyes, so its hard to spot where the middle of its face is

So make sure you keep looking for a good second and make sure your aiming at the right thing

if its a bison or another long range animal

be careful not to spook it

I've done the bounty/quests where they teach you quickdraw and it worked then, but I have no idea if that is because it was railroaded for you or not
