I got it! The best way to figure out how to stop progression is the very first time we find micah blowing Dutch (hanging in his tent). That's a great place to stop and go take care of anything that matters.
So instead of looking for any particular mission or anything, since you see them after you start it, just do it when micah starts moving in with Dutch.

One thing I really dislike is how they force you into night time for several missions. Some def make sense but some it just doesn't matter and I'd prefer light. You know take advantage of all the vibrant colors and graphics my expensive system can bring me. That's why I paid what I did.
