I played through the game countless times, and to what it appears to be Micah is the rat. I was thinking, Micah wasnt the rat, I think Milton told Arthur that so they could finally split the gang apart. Its clear that was their main intentions, to split them up because realistically they didnt care if they died or lived, they just wanted Dutch. I think when Micah told Arthur that he was talking crazy he really meant it, I think Micah had no clue what Arthur was saying despite his tone. Micah obviously hates Arthur and the other way around. But Micah also dickrode Dutch the entire game so I dont see him trying to get Dutch caught, especially since he wanted him to come with him at the end of the game

Clearly this is 99 percent wrong, at least to the point of why would Micah have Dutchs' bounty poster at his camp near Strawberry.

I know this post is all over the place but I thought it was a cool little idea to think about.

While it's somewhat weak, there are some circumstantial evidence to suggest Micah wasn't actually a rat.

For one, how much did Micah do for Milton to consider him "a good boy ever since"? He could've ratted on Lakay, obviously. But what else? If he gave away information about the gang members, why isn't Mary-Beth, Tilly, Pearson, Swanson, Sadie, and Josiah wanted in 1907? How come the Pinkerton's don't raid Beaver Hollow, even though Micah supposedly told them that that's the gang's next hideout? Why is Micah killing Pinkerton agents even though he's supposed to be undercover? Why is Micah even in Lakay even though he knows it's gonna get heated when the Pinkerton's arrive?

Here's the biggest piece of evidence for this theory. In "Just a Social Call" Dutch tells Arthur that Micah reckons that there's another rat. Keep in mind, this is after Molly's death. Micah has no reason to tell Dutch that there's is possibly another rat, if he's the rat.

As for how the Pinkerton's found Lakay, there's actually a pretty simple explanation. If you wait around long enough in Shady Belle, one of the Pinkerton agents will read the letter that Sadie wrote to Arthur and will see right through the metaphors. So it's entirely possible that that's how the Pinkerton's found Lakay. Or like Micah said, Bill asking around might have lead them to Lakay as well.

But then you ask, why would Milton lie? He has nothing to gain from lying..... but he doesn't have anything to gain from telling the truth either if you think about it. I think he tells Arthur that Micah is the rat to plant the seed into his mind. Milton is trying to destroy the gang from within, a Trojan Horse if you will. This proves to be effective, as Arthur immediately goes back to camp to confront Micah.
