New Austin is just a Barren wasteland, it's a useless part of the map. McFarland's Ranch has no police station but they still find lawman, Armadillo just doesn't have police at all so you can do whatever you want, and anywhere else is just boring
I regretted going there last night, I got a bounty so I couldn't pay it off and it took me about 50 years to get back to familiar territory

If I was earlier in the game, I'd buy that, but... I only have 3 moose, 2 boar, 2 muskrat, and 8 rats (all perfect) before having every single item from the trapper purchased.
There is one spot where there's a chance of an elk /or/ moose, but it's heavily weighted to the elk and that's what it's rolled for me at least 200 tries now.

Right north of Pronghorn ranch is a little cabin, they can sometimes be on it. They also can fly around the sky in that general area. Check around Hanging dog ranch too. But Also look around the Kamassa River, south of Brandywine Drop(West of Annesburg) they hang around the rocks and such there a lot too.

I found one instantly, if you go to Owanjilla dam and follow that river down a little bit, you find a crossing and the moose normally spawn to the right of it
I also found one in Aurora Basin once.

Funny... I was going back yet again to look for a moose, but it wasn't there. Since there was a buck, I decided ta take a bit of vengeance for past head butts and shot up his antlers a bit. Someone said there was supposed to be different scenes for the Horse in the last Chapter 6 mission, depending on your bond level. Which is mostly wrong, I found out.
One for each 4 levels. There is just 2 Scenes though... technically.

Had a guy run up and say his horse was Gone, no problem, I went after him, hogtied him, put him on the stolen horse, rode back into town with him still on the horse, and handed the horse over to the victim

I will say this, as much as I love RDR1, one problem I have with it is that only bounty hunters and special victim side missions can have you carry the criminal back

I don't think trapper supplies actually work into decreasing spawn rates. When I started working on trapper clothing, I hammered a lot of stuff out in very short order. It's just harder the more you have to focus on specific animals.
