Making you no sense they fear Dutch, of course Blackwater's massacre is still in the memory of each citizen. but I do not think it's enough for the police to be afraid to kill him

I just wrapped up the mission where Sean dies in Rhodes, and it's so weird how like after about 10 in-game minutes you can wander through Rhodes with a gun out and most of the townspeople, including the Grays, respond positively to you saying hello, despite the fact you just massacred like 30 lawmen.

@red helm I'm 99.999% convinced the game actively makes active challenges harder, but I haven't experienced this when casually looking.

I'm trying to get 100% compendium. I'm close with the animals and probably not that terribly close with the horses. Second current goal is to get everything from the trapper.

Afterward, I'll probably put the game down and not think of it for the next few years and then eventually pick it up again and get bored halfway through the storyline before enabling some cheats to sprint through things and just pay attention to it like a movie.

So far, I've avoided the temptation of enabling any cheats, despite being very tempted to when finding them during my first non-guide play-through.

I should probably do that as well. I've been bit by saving too often.
Most of my gaming is from PSX days and I remember only ever making a secondary save if you encountered something really interesting. Otherwise... space was precious, especially on memory cards.

With RDR2, thanks to Rockstar not bothering to fix bugs, I'm trying to comprehend making random saves that you might have to fall back to which erase massive chunks of progress in order to get around progress-blocking bugs.

I remember finding out that finishing the granger mission after the epilogue meant that 100% game completion became impossible.

I had all the items... all I had to do to reach 100% completion on my first play-through was to finish chores and wait for charles to show up. Since I finished the granger portion after the prologue, the only pitchfork in the game got destroyed, and kept me from ever shoveling shit again, which meant never finishing chores and subsequently meant charles never showing up.

@hushed flare Sure, it's not /required/, but my personal goal is 100% compendium completion and 100% of the trapper items. Then I'll finally go back and hang out with my cranky and dismissive wife, take care of a few chores, and put the game away for a few months/years.

All I have left - 6 animals not yet discovered at all; then 7 tracks, 4 studies, and 3 collects across 11 other animals
... and horses. I expect getting that complete is going to be infinitely more challenging, particularly riding every coat color available.

I remember absolutely hating a few of those gamblers. I think it's most of the poker-type. It takes too much luck, and it's hard to believe it's actually random when the game clearly reduces spawn rates of what's needed for missions/tasks.

On this save, I seem to recall just one of the poker challenges taking me approximately 2 in-game months of just sitting at the poker table, only moving seats/tables when I finished an alcoholic beverage.

The dominoes challenges were nice since there's actual skill involved. Five finger fillet isn't too bad either.

So far, I've mostly tried running away juuust far enough away on my horse so I could pull out something and study it before it kills me. I figure, even it if kills me, I should hopefully get the mark for tracking.

Instead, I just get eaten quickly, lose it, or have to kill it before dying.

The rest of the dangerous animals seem to have specific locations where you can see them before they see you. This one seems like it can only spawn as you cross right in front of it.

Arabians and their scaredy-cat-ness. yeah. But really, Get a Morgan and run it from Saint Denis to Tumbleweed, time it. Then get your Black Arabian and do the same. You might see some differance there. But otherwise 1-3 points of speed is unnoticable in normal play.

The Legendary fish in the swamp is just north of Lakay, fyi. If you are having trouble finding it. and there shouldn't be any of fish around where it is. I think most of the trouble with it, is just the location. Definitely do what I said early, with getting a boat, so you won't have to worry about Gator's.

What do you need?

Basic strategy: When you're playing 5's, the goal is to end up with a total "end" count in a multiple of 5. If you can't make that happen, you want to try to plan ahead to make it harder for them to place a tile. You don't even need to count because the game lets you cycle through every possible play.

"drop x for y" doesn't exactly imply you keep the other.
"pick up x" would have been better

I'm the kind of player that takes a million billion hours to finish any game, so I tend to trial-and-error that sort of thing and always farm things like karma early on

I tended to put off missions until I got bored with what I'd found at the time.

There are a lot of points where it kinda forces you to progress without a break, but also lots of places where you can take a break away from the gang.

On my first play, I was just about at 100% completion before finishing the last mission.

I want to unlock fishing so I’ll prob play some more tomorrow

When I first unlocked fishing, I played it for about 3 in-game weeks before realizing I can't actually make the little meter go all the way over.

When I got super frustrated with work or the game, back to fishing.

fishing becomes so much easier after realizing the real life trick of pushing rod forward and pulling it back it brings the fish so much closer when it's tired
