@autumn lark Arthur and John blow up the bridge later on in the story. Chapter 6 i think. After that you'll come across another mission to rob the very train that will fall run off that broken bridge. After that i think you can get the gold.

The guns are for the npc to guard the camp, I dont think you can guard the camp yourself...

No, you have to track it half way across the bloody map and you have to do it fast because once the horse starts back-tracking over its trails its pretty much a restart.
Its a beautiful horse though 🙂

It was worth it once I completed it. If I knew when I started it would take me 10+ hours to actually track, see and mount it I wouldn't have bothered.
That said on my next playthrough I'm likely to try and capture it again now that I know the ins and outs.
