alright, this is just me speculating, buttttt...

This ratio wouldn't vary by the horse's size or body type or whatever. It would vary based on the horse's stats and also how hard you push the horse.

So I guess the horses that have really high stamina would be able to run for longer and therefore work off any Calories (although I don't actually know if the "working off" part matters since I'm not sure if the game actually prevents feeding a horse at 100 Calorie level).

If we're doing "per mile", then you also want low SPEED, so it takes longer to go 1 mile.

So, basically... it would really just depend on how long it took for the horse to go 1 mile (assuming you had insane reaction time to get the minimum cooldown every single time you press F), and how long it could keep up that speed. So you'd want high Stamina, low Speed.

Sugar cubes or Peppermint is what I think of when you say "topping up"--they only fill the cores a little bit.
