thats because its tracking what the maximum bonding level you have with that breed is rather than tracking whether you've achieved the maximum bond level with that breed

so you only need a level 1 bond to check it off

If it’s not your first playthrough, just look up what your objectives are ahead of time.

If you are on a “replay” specifically, use the mission menu to see if you’ve achieved a given objective already. Good for those cases where you can’t tell, but it would take a lot of time to finish the mission.

Use deadeye. Spam deadeye tonics.

If the mission says “catch a fish”, it means “keep a caught fish”

Use accurate/powerful weapons over fast and inaccurate weapons.

“Without using health items” means anything that affects your health bar or core, dying, or anything that resets progress back to a checkpoint.

You can’t go back to checkpoints while on a timed objective or you auto fail it.

I don't know how much time other people spend in the epilogue, but you get that trinket in the game I think it's functionally useless.

I don't know what the timer is on carcass spoilage, but I've never gotten screwed by it. Seems to me the only benefit is for carrying perfect carcasses to pearson for Camp Upgrades, which have dubious benefit.

There is a way to get teh fastest horse in either chapter 2 or 3

So I tested the Black Arabian against the MIssouri Fox Trotter on a fairly decently long track. They both took 140 seconds to complete the track. Exactly. Multiple runs too.

This is with the +2 saddle and +1 speed from horse races. Which means speed caps out. Which makes the Arabians the objectively best horses (unless you want to talk about Bravery, which is its own can of worms)

It's not clear. Lots of conflicting information. Lot of anecdotes. Little in the way of hard science. The problem is people play the differently and that affects comparing their experiences.

Arabians probably lean cowardly. I think that's fair. But some people think it varies horse to horse with certain breeds rolling weighted dice one way or the other. Like I said, it's not clear.

What I do know is that I've never had a horse so cowardly that hitting the calm button "that's my boy!" didn't totally negate the problem.

I still disagree on using it even for just hunting, but at least they aren't using it for combat.

Same accuracy. Bolt does very slightly less damage, but has a much higher fire rate. Bolt has 5 rounds to the Springfield's 1. Over multiple shots, the bolt fires 2-3x as often.

Which means the Bolt is always going to be better if you have more than one target to kill, or if there's any chance at all of not killing on the first shot.

The Springshield's only niche is killing something in one hit by not hitting a critical spot, and only if there's one target.

But for hunting? Eh, who cares. Whatever. Might be annoying if it's what you're holding when wolves attack.

I'd rather not scroll through weapons with incredibly minimal utility

Repeater is great for missions that send dozens of enemies at you. But free roaming, the Bolt is my do-it-all weapon.

Repeater damage starts to fall off somewhere between 10-20 range. Rifle does max damage and holds strong accuracy up to 60.

Trapper will save 3-star skins for future craftings. Pearson will do the same. But they don't share.

Pearson also doesn't pay you. It pays into camp funds.
