Shotgun doesn't have the same niche as those rifles

Between the Springfield and the Bolt Action:

Same accuracy. Bolt does very slightly less damage, but has a much higher fire rate. Bolt has 5 rounds to the Springfield's 1.

Bolt is overall better and an incredibly useful weapon overall, whether in combat or hunting. It's my #1 used weapon.

As for the Semi-Auto, I don't think it's very good compared to your other shotgun options.

Varmint Rifle for Hunting. Bow for hunting and whatever other situation it's good for.

Of the throwables and other weapons that don't take up a gun slot, I like throwing knives in particular. No limit on those though so use them whenever! Lot of fun stuff in there.

True once John got to prison everything turned really sour like chapter 6 was the best chapter imo in like gameplay it would be one of the worst if we including Arthur dieing like Dutch kinda clinged onto Micah at that point in the game
