hello! im doing a mission with sadie and john where we get back some bounty guy and for some reason once we stop to observe the men sadie wont do anything, ive tried dying to maybe restart the checkpoint but my game goes into loading mode not even showing the death message what can i do? ive restarted the mission 3 times now after force quitting the game itself

Howdy! That sounds like one of them pesky RDR2 mission bugs that creep up sometimes. Here’s a few tricks you can try to get Sadie movin’ again:

Reload an earlier save – Instead of just restarting the mission, load a manual save from before you started it. Sometimes the checkpoint itself gets corrupted.

Try approaching differently – When you and Sadie stop to observe, don’t rush ahead. Stay close to her, let her finish her dialogue, then move with her. If you walk off too fast, the AI sometimes doesn’t “kick in.”

Switch weapons / holster – Weirdly, having your gun drawn can sometimes cause her AI to stall. Holster your weapon or swap to fists/binoculars before the cutscene area.

Camp / sleep / reload the world – Go back to camp or a hotel, sleep, and let time pass. Then retry the mission fresh.

Clear cache (console/PC) – On console, a full restart (power cycle) can help. On PC, verify your game files through Steam/Rockstar launcher.

If none of that works, it’s very likely a mission scripting bug. Usually a manual save from before starting the bounty run fixes it.

Dang, partner — sounds like your game’s well and truly stuck in a loop. If you’ve already tried the “regular fixes” (restarts, earlier saves, sleeping, cache clearing), and Sadie’s still standin’ there like a scarecrow, here’s what you can still try before ridin’ off the rails:

Load an even earlier save – Not just before the mission, but maybe a whole chapter back if you’ve got one. Some mission scripts corrupt themselves and only a “clean” save can fix it.

Try the mission in a different way –

Approach on a different horse.

Wear a different outfit (sometimes scripted missions bug on masks or outlaw clothing).

Don’t aim/lock-on/look through binoculars when the cutscene should trigger.
These sound silly, but AI triggers in RDR2 are weirdly sensitive.

Disable mods (if on PC) – If you’re running any mods, even minor ones, try removing them and relaunch. Certain AI/animation tweaks will break Sadie’s scripting.

Repair/Reinstall the game – On PC: verify files through Rockstar/Steam/Epic. On console: reinstalling can clear corrupted scripts. I know it’s a slog, but if the mission script itself is broken, reinstall is the only way to fix it without Rockstar patches.

Solved it for me: Cuttin out the "version.ddl" from the game directory and backup it somewhere, play the mission, save game and quit game, insert "version.ddl" back in the game directory and continuing playing! 🙂

the key is to know what birds to look for in advance as you dont need to wait until the particular request is active to start collecting the plumes

for egrets try checking around the train track west of the B in "Bayou Nwa"

then you can save your game and load the save and you have a good chance of having some sitting right in front of you

He doesn’t really have a canonical horse. His old horse died before the games begin, her name was Boadicea (a queen) and nothing is known about her except from what Arthur tells. Aside from that I’d say either the replacement horse he finds in colter or the horse Hosea gives him

And since Hosea gives it to Arthur after they talk about Arthur canonically losing his old horse before the game starts, I don't see a more suitable horse to play through.

When it comes to mods that let you kill crucial NPC in the game, because it would be game breaking the engine fully blocks such scripts. The most you could find would be a script that allows you to shoot at them and they may ragdoll or cause the game to crash

didn't try shooting a dynamite arrow but i did run them over with my horse after scaring them off to prevent the mission from starting

they didn't take damage as expected

didn't know you can kill gang members as they're totally invincible (unless they're in camp but that's a weird glitch)

i mean they are immortal or atleast have astronomically high hp values when you do the companion glitch

i feel like gang members have way too complicated Ai for them just to be regular npcs you go on missions with from time to time

like again, with the companion glitch
they have multiple voicelines you will never hear in normal gameplay

such as complementing your horse to talking with each other etc

also they point their guns at anyone you aim at too
