if you donate to camp only do $20 at a time for the most possible honor gain

whenever you see a 3 star animal, try to hunt it for the pelt. youll probably want pelts later and it can be hard to find a specific animal so its nice to just collect them along the way

if you donate certain 3 star pelts to pearson at the camp you can craft satchels that hold more stuff including a really op one you can unlock by crafting all the others

if you park your horse over an animal you want to skin it will shorten or even skip the lengthy skinning animation

you can also sell the pelts to the trapper who can craft cool looking clothes and saddles that give stat boosts to your horse

predator animals like bears, cougars wolves and alligators give the best kind of meat which can fill your cores completely if cooked plain or give you a gold core if cooked with mint, thyme or oregano

if its your first time seeing that kind of animal you have to "study" it first by looking at it and holding the button

after that you can just target the animal and look at the bottom right corner of your screen

it will show either 1 2 or 3 stars

also note that depending on the size of the animal you need to use the correct caliber of ammo to avoid ruining the pelt

youll need the varmint rifle or small game arrows for anything smaller than a coyote

and obviously you have to hit the right spot as well like charles taught you

for bigger animals like deer pronghorn etc use a bigger caliber rifle like a springfield or a bow
