bows don't work on large animals, you need to land multiple clean headshots to get that, and for small game you need special arrows. You are better off using varmint rifle and bolt action rifle.

only for medium sized animals. You better save money for all weapons and you keep one of each category on your horse so when you go to a specific area you get the most apropriate 2 weapons on you

crossbows would be a great weapon for hunting as it could have lower drop for the arrows when shooting at long range and could have increased damage so we could 1 shot large animals

thats because your dead eye level is level 1 if you play through the story it wont automatically mark animals and people i recommend pointing at the head for a split second then look away at the animal, or just use a bow with improved arrows
