I killed legendary moose and then accidentally entered a mission while the pelt was on my horse. It disappeared after the mission was over and there is a problem.

The map says I have already killed the moose, but when I go to the trapper he says I don't have any of the legendary moose items. This happened like at least a week ago in in-game time so no, sleeping and doing other stuff did not make the pelt go to the trapper.

Is this a known bug? Am I cooked?
