Before you finish Chapter 6, go on a spending spree. John will get all your unique items. This means guns, and Clothing. So just buy every single piece of clothing you can. That's what I did in my last play through, since I did the Aberdeen event before I learned about the 'Trick'.

So, right now, I'm just before the final mission of Chapter 4, which is going to shift the game to Chapter 5 which is on Guarma. I took some time off because I wanted to do most of the side quests available and craft all of the satchels. I've got a perfect cougar pelt which is the last requirement I need for the Legend of the East satchel but for some reason, Pearson's butcher table is locked and I'm unable to donate anything. Plus, most of the camp members are missing with some exceptions. Anyone knows a workaround or a fix for this?

If you have a lot of money go to a place where u meet this fat guy and his wife a.k.a his sister

Go to their place accept their offering when they offer u if u wanted to eat

Then u will pass out they will take your money

Go back to their place and kill them because why not?

And don't take your money back let that money stay on that safe until u play as john in the game

After u play as john go back to that place take the money and done u got your money back
