if youre in the snow youre in chapter 1. chapter 1 is very short and youll be given time to free roam in the second chapter. a lot of people quit in chapter 1 cuz its too slow paced for them, i promise it gets better. my suggestion is to take your time to enjoy the map and the missions aside from the story, and always be curious about the little things, as theres TONS of details in this game. have fun, and watch out for spoilers!

but do your best to get them the first time you play the mission, because its a bit harder to do most of them on a replay. one advantage to doing them when you first play them in the story is that you can eat gold core food beforehand, which will generally give you a gold core for the entire mission which really helps for missions where you're not allowed to heal
