I think it's because the noose isnt for choking, its holding someone back/holding them where they are, to keep them in the cave, to not look outside of what you see and feel.

The singer, who escaped the shackles, Isn't going to continue to let them choke on the noose that's around their neck. Hes going to free them, and allow them to see from another persecptive. As the noose in this instance isn't reallly made for choking.

Atleasts thats what I think, because Im pretty sure they were influced by Plato's Allegory of the Cave, which describes the prisoners being shackled by their neck. Being forced to face a wall, unable to turn and see something different, and when one escapes, they come back to free the others, hence not letting them be bound by the noose around their neck
