So first of all my pc is rtx 4090 with intels i9-14900kf, 32gb ram 5600mhz.
I’ve got a second m2 ssd mounted in my case and I wanted to setup a kali linux as a dual boot so I can study with cyber security tools. But during installation it gave errors, I have shared the logs with gemini and claude and they said it because of graphics drivers. (I have retried installation dozens of time and set the iso to my usb fresh many times just to be clear) So I tried the commands claude gave me to install but still didnt work. Except from error, the installations get stuck at some point and doesnt move on. So I said fu*k kali, I’ll just boot ubuntu and setup the tools I need. So I tried booting ubuntu but when I boot my computer and click install ubuntu it gut stuck with the ubuntu loading screen, so I tried the safe graphics option and it got stuck with the same ubuntu logo and a loading icon on top of it (I shared pictures). So I made another usb with ubuntu server in it (since there is not desktop env. I thought I would’ve no issues) but during installation clicked “look for third party driver” so that it can install nvidias drivers itseld but it couldnt find any drivers and just search for an hour, So I removed the check on that option and decided to install manually later. Then I pressed continue but it said there was a problem completing installation, and the log file was like million lines of test and guess what when I pressed end button to see end lines in order to check what happened last, there where no lines about it, there where details about my spec, and when I rolled up there were meaningles ram adresses for thousands of lines so I never found the error. So everytime I restarted installation it failed somewhere, I also tried with not ethernet cable but it either stopped in a point (I mean there are screen that commands appear everywhere but the stop for a reason) or it gave the fail message. So claude gave me many commands to write but none of them work and even claude gave up and told me that my cpu should’ve been cooked since its intels i9-14900 (I know, I should’ve skipped that series and move on with amd but there were no stock for amd for month in my country) so we did ipdt test (clear) cinebench (perfect score, around 39k) and at last we did prime95 torture test for an hour and all of those test gave 0 error 0 warnings. And funny thing is I can use kali with wsl2 so I thing it might not because of hardware compatibility but I really dont like wsl2 (please dont ask why even having to work with 60hz sucks) I just wanna be able to dual boot any linux distro but I cant. I tried everything and at last I gave up because it took 6-8 hours from me. I believe the linuxtechtips discords geniuses might save me. Love you all, help me guys I really am a sweet person I work hard. I BEG YOU

Disable secure boot if its on
If that doesn't fix, remove gpu and see if that fixes it
Also, I didnt have too much stability issues with this pc but I get status_acces_violation on chrome quite common. And oblivion crashes a lot
It is disabled
Run memtest86
Likely bad RAM
Which often causes boot failures in Linux
Would that work? I dont have an onboard gpu. Cpu model ends with kf
Could also be mem controller
Lemme do that
Linux will run a software renderer if no gpu found
Windows technically should too
I started memtest, will share result right when it ends.
Just so you know, memtest CAN give false negatives, it isn't foolproof
If it comes back clean, try boot without GPU. If it still fails, try with 1 DIMM at a time
Aye aye captain 🫡
check the drive too... some of those errors are on unpacking and accessing looks like, so could be drive or ram.
it's a single stick.
he cant boot a livecd either
o
i see now... seems like that's an nvidia thing tho. the errors i'm talking about don't seem to be related to that.
Endeavour or Cachy os usually have better nvidia support on the live disc, so might be able to get around that with one of those.
Unfortunately I got blank screen with no gpu.
Dang
I gave another shot for installation and still didnt work, I tried installing grub in shell also didnt work. I tried everything that I know of but I really cant make it work. Whatever I do there is an error at some point. Im so fricking confused about whats happening. Bios is updated, microchip is updated. Rams seems to be working well, there is no degrading seems to be on my cpu. I dont even know what I can further at this point. I even tried using safe graphics just in case my gpu drivers is the issue but no, nothing works. Im sad
So the installation failed again and I clicked the try again button which gave me the failed to install message so I spammed the enter button like a hundred times because of anger
And… it just completed the installation
So I rebooted to kali and this screen showed up
(I didnt chose any desktop environments)
As you ser there is a fail message right where the blur lines end. And in the message it says nvme0n1p2 which is the ssd my windows installed to so its wrong
So at the bottom you can see I ran the command: blkid | grep ext4 to see which partititon has linux
And I manually tried mounting but failed again
I rebooted my pc, pressed e button on kali and I have seen that also in here partition name was different as you see, so I changef nvme0n1p2 to nvme1n1p2
