#SSL Errors. Took to professional and he gave up.

I'm out of options so hopefully the smart people in this discord can help mr figure this out.

I'm getting SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR and failed downloads on all browsers except for firefox. Installers that require the internet like AMD adrenaline and gigabyte control center fail too. Game clients like steam and battle.net download just fine. I've even went as far as to replace the motherboard and still have this problem.

My specs:
B650 Aorus Elite AX
Ryzen 5 7600x
XFX 6800 XT
WD_Black_SN850X 1TB
WD_Black_SN850X 2TB
2x Corsair Vengance DDR5 16gb ram sticks

I built this computer 2 years ago and just now started having this problem in the last month or 2

I've already spent alot of money and time on this and can't figure it out. I consider myself somewhat of a computer nerd and it's stumped me. I took it to a professional and he gave up on it too. Is there anyone here that may know what the problem is?

This is a list of everything I have tried so far (may be missing a couple things)

. Multiple clean Windows installs (10 & 11) → issue persists
. Chrome, Edge, Chromium → all fail SSL downloads
. Firefox works fine (both Windows & Ubuntu Live USB)
. Root certificate store rebuilt; imported certs from clean PC → no effect
. Checked TLS/Schannel settings; TLS 1.2 missing, TLS 1.3 disabled
. Proxy/WinHTTP settings verified → no effect
. Network adapter resets, Winsock catalog verified → no effect
. USB network adapter tested → same issue
. Tried different routers / ISPs / technician’s house → same issue
. AMD Adrenalin & Gigabyte Control Center → fail to download/install
. Ubuntu Live USB → Chromium fails, Firefox works
. Different motherboards tested → same issue
. BFE service running, IPv6 disabled → no effect
. Large downloads fail instantly or after few MB → Firefox only browser works

but mine was laptop 😐

# clever nexus bad cpu

Were there any tests yoi did to determine that it was the cpu or did you just replace the laptop? I just wanna narrow it down to make sure im replacing the right part

here is also a fun thing, any distro using KDE also had issues

this really does look 1:1 the same issue i had with my 5600h legion

#

only thing im not sure i tried was taking out the wifi card

I tried using a usb network adapter and that didnt work. I'm so desperate I used AI to help and its telling me its cpu until I run the cpu tests and then its telling me RAM until i run memtests. Guess i'll try a new CPU next week and if that doesnt fix it im blowing this PC up

xd

#

im 90% sure its the cpu

#

if its not im gonna be sad as most likely it was not my cpu on that laptop

# clever nexus im 90% sure its the cpu

Just wanted to give you an update. I underclocked/undervolted my cpu and everything works perfectly. As soon as I go back to default speeds, the errors come back! Its 100% the cpu

#

So technically you coulda just downclocked it and be fine lol. At least I have a reason to upgrade now!

so not really

#

but meh

#

i now got a laptop about as thick as a lot of modern phones

Sounded like yours was due for an upgrade anyway lol. 5600h legion was getting pretty old
