#OLED main monitor with IPS side monitors, how bad is it?

Peripheral purchases are pretty subjective, but here’s my take.

I think the bigger thing to consider first is pixel density. Right now your main display is actually the least sharp panel in your setup. Your side monitors might already be the real "trigger." A 24" 1080p monitor has noticeably lower PPI than a 27" 1440p monitor, so your secondary displays are technically sharper than your main one. Unless you specifically need the 280 Hz panel for competitive esports, the upgrade from 1080p to 1440p (at 24"–27") will probably be more noticeable in everyday use than moving from IPS to OLED.

Also keep in mind that if you want to maintain the same level of smoothness, you’d likely want a high refresh OLED (close to 240–280 Hz) as your main display. Add two side monitors on top of that and it can become a pretty heavy hit to the bank account.

As for running one OLED with two IPS side monitors, plenty of people run mixed panel setups and it’s usually fine. Again, it really comes down to your tolerance for the differences between different panels.

I have an OLED next to an IPS and it's fine. The only time it really bothers me is when I want to play in the dark since for some reason 0% brightness is still really bright on the secondary monitor so sometimes I just switch it off lol. But having had an OLED for three months now, everything else just looks so much worse now haha. Even the pretty decent screen of my ROG Ally is no match for the OLED
