I am planning a build in the Fractal Terra, downsizing my current PC from Full-ATX to Mini-ITX.
Here's what I'm keeping:

  • Ryzen 7700X
  • RX 7800 XT (305mm x 130mm x 56mm 3slot)
  • 2x32GB Corsair Vengeance (35mm)
  • 2x M.2

I'm just wondering how to cool the chip.
I concede to needing underclocking and eco 65w TDP mode on CPU, but what air cooler will fit?

I was hoping that the Thermalright AXP90-X53 Full Copper would fit, but PC Part Picker is saying it wouldn't but I think it's wrong.
I assume the NH-L9a just isn't enough thermal mass?

Also with the spine of the Terra, my GPU is apparently 130mm, which is RIGHT on the cusp of <131mm, should i play it safe and plan for the <145mm instead? is the single 1mm of air space not enough to cool my GPU?

then I also just thought, the PCIe power on the gpu, that adds to the height, does that not push it over into <=145?

  1. a 120mm aio fits. 2) it will be cheaper and perform the same as the Noctua. ID cooling equivalent performs the same and cheaper than both 3) iirc the thickness by gpu won’t impact much as there is holes in that side of the case for air flow into gpu anyway 4) look for a bigger case if there are worries and you’re not comfortable

Slim fan and a block is less mm than any cooler you’ll lose

Just Google terra builds to see
