nothing free at least
il pay
its got like 1.5tb of photos on it
Whats something reliable and WILL work
please
keep in mind the data has been over written somewhat
what i would suggest is making a disk image in case any recovery attempt only does more harm
disk drill
jeff managed to do a dumb move too and deleted something he did not want to
https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2025/recovering-videos-my-sony-camera-i-stupidly-deleted/
My normal process for transferring video footage from my Sony cameras to my computer is as follows:
Run a sonydump script that copies all video files from my SD card to my local computer, then runs rm *.MP4 in the folder on the SD card, and ejects it. I copy the files onto my NAS, which has an hourly ZFS snapshot and also backs up that snapshot ...
also PLEAS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD 3 2 1
tbh do 3 extra backups
like 3 software backups?
also its like 1 tb of photos and files..
😭
and?
2 4TB disks and some old ass work station is like what 300-400$ or you can go the monthly like 10-20$ for a 1TB+ on most cloud providers
So disk drill with 3 back ups is a good idea?
first of all do a disk image
what it does is look at all the bits on the HDD and copy them just as they are and if a data recovery program damages the data while trying to retrieve it you are not fully f-ed as you still have the old image of the disk, then try to use disk drill and see how much data you might be able to recover and when you have done that store them on 3 different disks best to put them in a NAS and at least one of those is in a different house or the cloud.
is disk image something on Disk Drill?
or is it a windows setting?
use clonezilla to make it
tbh i would suggest just taking this to a known good data recovery firm
i would but i dont got 100s of dollars 😭
i thought you said you did not care about the price
anyhow not much can be done about it
should have spent 100$ on another 2TB HDD, this is just what happens.
alr so basically my best bet here is to just try and do disk recovery?
if you do something wrong any data that could have been recoverable by a like 100-200$+ recovery firm could be just fully gone with no hope to ever come back.
Yea there is no 100-200$ recovery firm brother 😭 🙏
there all like 600+
too bad
i have 3 different servers backing up anything remotely important
good for you bro
