#Storage is so bad, how to fix?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
External usb drives are the easiest way to increase storage.
i have external ssd
Use this tool to see what is taking up all the space in case something isn't cleaning up after itself: https://www.jam-software.com/treesize
A lot of games? Or files?
Never heard of this, looks sick though
I've always used Filelight which is much simpler
Look at reference images
reference images tell us nothing unfortunately.
You probably have already tried, but the disk cleanup utility built into windows can scan for known files and caches to be cleared. Since it is showing 700+GB for the installed apps and system, give it a chance to see if old updates and system logs have ballooned out of control.
You can Use Wiztree it is a really good and useful utility
https://diskanalyzer.com/download
WizTree is the fastest disk space analyzer for Windows. Download the latest version here. Use it to quickly locate and remove space hogs from your hard drive and free up valuable disk space.
and it is for storage management
i have that
oh then you just need extra storage
Purchase more storage or delete files.
I have 1TB external
I’ll check wiztree after school and see what’s blocking up my space
Okay, but your programs are not on your external drive
Try to move some if possible
Chances are your internal storage is upgradable too which is preferable to external
i moved alot of programs there months ago
i have 200 gb left on there
So then you need more storage?
I'm not sure where the disconnect is
If you've already looked at cleanup utilities and you're still running out, you just need more
i might buy it
gimme some i can use?
What do you mean
cleanup utilities...
You already used disk cleanup and wiztree
There's no utility that will magically make programs smaller
i have it but dont use it
If you have a crapton of plugins etc, nothing you can do except uninstall them
support assist does smth tho but its apparently bloatware
SupportAssist doesn't do anything that other programs don't
And yes, it alongside all of Dell's other prepackaged software is bloatware
wth is this?
do you use unreal engine?
uninstalled it to see if the file went
I still have the file
do UCAS extension files go for games I play made in the engine also? (e.g the finals)
yes, but only if their made with unreal 5 and the files for those should be in the game directory
alr
so no point of me hunting for files from there?
