You didn't happen to run DDU in safe mode did you?
IIRC, once you boot in safe mode, it will keep rebooting into safe mode until you manually disable it
What you're describing sounds like you're in safe mode

Thats not how safe mode works. Once you booted into safe mode, simply restarting will boot into normal mode.

Safe mode doesn't start without networking by default you have options when you get to the screen that gives you options to start with safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode command prompt.
