#any feedback on this build?

the main reason i went am4 is because i already have ddr4 ram and dont want to buy ddr5, so i just now changed it to an intel one if you want to check out this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dxCVxg
Part List - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G370A ATX Mid Tower
I own a 12400F with the stock cooler and it stays cool, just a little bit on the louder side. I still think spending extra on a CPU cooler is not the best value for these chips
alright thanks, any thoughts about the other parts
i really appreciate the help
The other parts (from your first list) seem fine to me. One thing to point out is that the boards you chose don't have WiFi, if that's something you might want.
that Montech PSU is a red flag for me because it's only 80+ rated (not even 80+ Bronze, damn)
appreciate the concern but its just gona stay in one spot with ethernet anyways
changed the psu to one of these: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xLtKHx/apevia-prestige-600-w-80-gold-certified-atx-power-supply-atx-rp600w
should be fine (it's C tier on the PSU tier list; should be a safe option)
thanks again for all the help, its my first time not getting a prebuilt so i really appreciate it
do not
country?
the 5700 is godawful
recommending a 12400f is also a pretty bad idea
I wasn't recommending it, just using it as an example that box coolers can be fine
ideally they'd spend more on AM5, but they're trying to use RAM they already own
9600X + DDR5 + AM5 board is better, but not gonna be the same price
@hushed haven what's the budget
9600x also isn't particularly logical
unless it's equally priced to a 7600(x), which it isn't
it could be, depending how cheap you might be able to find one for.

Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Lian Li Vector V100R ATX Mid Tower
holy parametric
the what
from the reddit community: https://pcmasterrace.org/builds
their builds website is a good resource
this is slop
a lot of these parametric filters are either dated or missing newer hardware
it's also.. parametric filters
not a particularly good method of choosing parts
I'm not saying to copy the build exactly, that wouldn't be very good
it does give an idea of what's possible given a certain budget though
trying to keep it around 800-850 usd not incl the cost of the ram i already have
mainly for gaming
what would you do instead
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G370A ATX Mid Tower
sell the ram
where do you find a 7500F I thought those were OEM only?
i dont want to do an AM5 build
i need something that will support ddr4
which is why im soing lga1700
simply not viable
lga1700 also has way too many issues to comfortably recommend using
am4 is the only “reasonable” ddr4 option, but that’s already an old ass platform
am5 is quite literally the only logical solution
just sell the ram
ddr4 is at an all-time high right now
if i wanted to do this id have to shave like $100 off of it and id only get like 30-40 for the ram at least where i live
also with the lga1700 couldnt i just get a contact frame instead of the stock one to fix the bending issues
or is there another issue im not aware of
drop it to a b580 then
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Arc B580, Phanteks Eclipse G370A ATX Mid Tower
that shaves $100 off
well besides the CPUs killings themselves, no- not really
Though that’s raptor lake
didnt they fix that by making the mb companies fix their bios or something
ive only seen reports of the higher end lga1700s frying themselves like the 13th and 14th gen i7s and i9s
i havent really seen any for the i5 or even the 12th gen
yeah 12th is fine but then you're kinda stuck on a dead-end platform
AM4 is also kind of a dead end, but at least AMD is still releasing new AM4 CPUs in 2025
ik this isnt the best source but chat gpt is telling me the risk for a 13th gen is really low considering its a mid tier cpu, especially if i update the bios
which CPU are we talking about now? and how much money vs the 7500F?
13400f
awful source
this is literally sub 800
