depening on software/methid it will be 1;1 in terms of partions or it will just copy all the files and the basic partion info look like you did second option
its fine as long as its larger drive being cloend to
I think I got it cloned right I just can’t boot from the cloned drive
Yeah I’m wrong on that. I still just wouldn’t clone
How are you trying to boot to it? I assume from BIOS as there likely isn't a EFI entry for the cloned drive...
Expand the space, boot to windows repair and let it fix the boot files. Could also try disconnecting the original drive when trying to boot the clone. Looks like the uuids are different....but the partition id's may not be.
you cloned it wrong....
you didnt fill up the size....
come back when you are ready to clone again....
Personally lean towards just don't do it too, unless you are imaging like 100 machines or something isn't worth the effort typically, you can do it but you're running into two of the common issues here too need to fix boot config and/or need to resize partition after the fact... Typically like others mentioned growing a partition isn't generally a problem usually moreso with shrinking but just usually better off doing clean install of OS and programs and transfer old data separately
my pc wont even boot from it
take a photo of the boot device list...in the bios...
show it here....
this time show the partitions...in macrium reflect before you proceed...
since you made a small mistake earlier...
dynamic?...why does it say dynamic?... is the 500 GB drive in dynamic scheme?
select disk 1...and click clone... then wipe disk 2...and drag the partitions...1 and 2
then show it...
couldnt tell you there just there
i told you to only..drag 1 and 2..
anyways... undo or remove both recovery partitions...
then drag partition 4 at the end of the disk 2..
then show it...
do this...
does 3 need top be brought down before that one on the end
when i brought it down im here
click layout..and push it to the right...
or click ..float right..
you are good ...
but..
here is the important step...
you will need to make sure again...that its not in dynamic...but basic...
I believe dynamic was the reason...why you couldnt boot earlier...
you will need to make sure that..its not converting the disk back to dynamic...before starting the cloning process...
or you will fail to boot again...
is the 500 GB drive...in dynamic..format?
its alright..you know how to do it now...properly..
check if the disk 1 is dynamic or not...
still basic
double check on dynamic part....and then start cloning...
then show the drive paritions again...after cloning is complete...to check if the disk 2 is dynamic again or not..
@odd arch whats the update?
lowkey got distracted and got food
working great
havent had any issues i can boot up fine and everything is here for the most part
had to reset my windows pin but thats not too bad
