PC blackscreening after closing game

For the past week and half give or take everytime I close a game my pc blackscreens with error 0xef

some steps i've taken to fix it was to redo all drivers, buy and install a new cpu, motherboard, ram, ssd, reinstall windows with the issue still occurring, i dont know if it could be a gpu or a psu thing at this rate but I highly doubt it because I'm able to play games and whatnot just fine, its just on closing them when it blackscreens and restarts my computer with the error

Try doing DISM

1. Open cmd as adming

admin*

and then run these:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow

ran it with these results, going to try opening a game and closing it to see if it fixed it or anything

go to C\windows\minidump..
check if you see any...dmp file in there...

@toxic lagoon What model is the SSD btw? Critical_Process_Died dump files are probably not going to show much. It means that a Windows process crashed, because of that that the storage is a suspect.

my original ssd was a wd black sn770 1tb, the one i replaced it with yesterday is a samsung 990 EVO Plus 2 TB SSD Gen4 NVMe™ M.2

There is a Windows update that lots of users have reported storage issues with. Not sure if you can uninstall it if it was included in the install.

The dump files don't point to anything interesting

In Windows search, enter "update history" and open the update history

Scroll to the bottom for Uninstall Updates

You could re-seat the storage. Improper seating is surprisingly common with M.2

is this really a clean install?...or you did cloning?..

yeah it should be a clean install, downloaded a fresh version onto a usb from the microsoft website, and then installed it with that onto the new ssd

it happens on all the games i have installed currently: escape from tarkov, helldivers 2, war thunder

nope, i can close other apps and whatnot just fine

upload the event viewer system log file..... then proceed to reseat the SSD...as mentioned..
while I look for something else...

btw... disconnect the logitech.. controller...and test without it...

not gonna lie... thats a weird pattern of crash..doesnt suit with the bsod you are having!...

I would say... try installing windows 10..instead...

I could have said... this being.. nvidia driver issue... but the dump file doesnt indicate that..nor does the error code...

this issue looks new to me...let me know if the issue repeats..on windows 10 as well...

keep the expo disabled...

rolled it back ill update you in a day cause it tends to be fine for a few hours everytime i reinstalled windows

around 10-15 times, im going to keep trying over the next day or so because from the other times i reinstalled windows the bug appeared again after a few days

yep!... now its up to you..whether you want to stay with windows 10...or choose to upgrade from it again...

im assuming the method is just probably to wait for a few more windows updates so its hopefully fixed before reinstalling win 11
