Okay, first of all I apologise if it doesn't make sense to everybody. I am ADHD autistic
As a hobby I refurbish old tech usually computers hence why I'm writing in this forum I need eight drives to run on a board that only has four sata.
I'm building for myself a box to store everything long-term a bit like a project vault.
I have two I assume they're both the same raid cards with a VIA chipset and two internal sata
Does anybody know if these are the same cards and so will not work together?
I have no instructions or information I can tell you but it will be going on at Linux mint install
If I knew how to do trueNAS / unraid / hex os (If I could afford hex OS I would so that is out of the question really though it probably would be best)
I would probably do that as the drives are all different sizes But as I said above no money.
I do have another option and that is a four port SATA card
The board I'm using this card will not fit in the small slot ( for reference, board is asrock n68c) But does have full size PCI slot
If I put the small card in a big slot like the fourth picture, will it still work at the full capability and speed?
(In one of the videos I did see Linus chop out one of the slots because the card wouldn't fit but ideally don't want to do this because I could screw up with how I am)
