i usually keep on 144hz and my native resolution for everyday use. when i launch some games i have to lower my refresh rate by going to display and to change refresh. very annoying to do because after when im done with gaming i have to change it back to 144hz

#

i have an nvidia 4070ti but i don't know where the settings on control panel or ge force experience

try the normal one first yes

The game shouldn't care about the refresh rate. It will just output a framerate

techically yes but i too experienced flickering when being capped (i have a 180hz monitor)

#

this fixed it

It might tear, but it shouldn't flicker.

The monitor doesn't have fresync or g-sync?

mossy shore
#

yeah i have g sync on

What is the G-Sync range?

In Windows, if you open Display Settings, click Advanced Display settings, it should show the model

Ok, I found a forum post about the flickering

#

It's when it goes in and out of freesync. The freesync range is quite small so if you have that on, it will flicker when it goes in and out of it

#

The freesync range is the FPS range where freesync works

#

Lower or higher than this range and it doesn't work

#

I can't find any specifics about the default range because apparently you can change the range in third party tools.

now to think of it i used to have flicker but don't know. idk what i did

The manual does say that Freesync doesn't work below 100Hz, so that might be why it feels better at lower refresh rate

i see

Could you try disabling it and seeing if that does anything?

#

It would be under G-Sync in Nvidia Control PAnel (Not sure if you have to disable it on the monitor as well, in the GUI)

#

is it under set up g sync?

#

on my the monitor controls

#

i mean my buttons physically on the back of my monitor

#

i just disabled free sync premium

#

is that what was the issue?
