Hey everyone, Im going to University this year, and I got a budget of GBP £2k and It has to be a small PC as I won't have enough space in uni for a full tower PC and this is what i've built so far. Monitor, Mouse and Keyboard are no issues, as i'll buy that myself but that's all I can think of so far. And this is only going to be used to play games as I got a MacBook for music, and doing assigments and Djing. Preferably want a motherboard with Wi-Fi just in case as I don't know what Uni gonna be like.

the best is to look at the motherboards themself

#

some have more usb ports

cobalt carbon
#

Espically with me plugging in audio gear and them lot.

#

That's the latest one, now

trim raven
#

B650 being a more entry - mid ranged motherboard there will be a mix between usb 2.0 and 3.0

#

why does the case look bigger than some ATX cases?

#

it looks so wide wait let me check the dimensions

#

Dimensions
479 mm x 304 mm x 376 mm
18.858" x 11.969" x 14.803"

Like, I have a basic knowledge but when it comes to like this, i'm lost

trim raven
#

im going to round some numbers to make it easier
the biggest gpus are 320mm (+/-) so you will have 20 cm of "unused" space, yes good for airflow and if you want hard drives you can fit them nicely in it but my pc is nearly half the size of it 🤣

#

i am on a ITX case (fractal terra) it is 15.5cm wide and 34.5cm deep and fits all but the most extreme sized cards

#

nothing wrong with a big pc case, it has many advantages but if size is a concern you have other options

cobalt carbon
#

Just size, like I don't mind but preferably don't want to put it in a big box, as when I move out I got loads of stuff....

trim raven
#

volumetric difference between what you chose and the mine

#

i do need to say mine is one of the smaller out there

I changed the SSD

trim raven
#

any reason 2SSDs there is no downside to have 1 big ssd

late cedar
#

I've heard having one SSD just for windows and another for games is an advantage

trim raven
#

very minimal, when hard drives were widely used it mattered more, the only real advantage now is ease of maintenance

late cedar
#

it's also much cheaper than a 4tb drive

trim raven
#

true

#

(1tb for windows is a lot btw)

late cedar
#

very true

trim raven
#

otherwise i dont really see anything wrong
still kinda sceptical about the pc case

cobalt carbon
#

Just thinking of Having 1tb of storage for windows and like important documentation

#

then 2TB for games

cobalt carbon
#

But I might swap the drive to a cache drive

#

like get some more performance

#

and my mate said this... "tell him that the only thing id recommend is getting a bigger PSU as hes got a high demanding rig"

#

what's everyone's opinion?
