so i upgraded from a 4060 ti to a 4070 ti super and it worked for almost a whole week but now every now and then the pc fans go on full blast(including the graphics card), and the monitor gets no video output, but windows is still open i was able to unpause and pause a youtube video.

@autumn junco You can try DDU, but it shouldn't be necessary to do from that change. Fans going to max and the screen going black is classic GPU crashing.

i am betting hardware issue

autumn junco
#

it was a prebuilt pc but i ended up wanting to upgrade to a 4070

plucky rapids
#

we NEED to know the model

#

i am 80% sure its hardware failure

if it's some random, unreputable brand it may not handle power spikes very well (or at all) and shut down your pc

plucky rapids
#

Same with most others

#

Unless your a billionaire or something your bot buying a brand

lime coyote
#

most power supplies that are horrible to the point of being dangerous like that are either old or have been recalled

plucky rapids
#

Vs

#

Anyways my point still stands

lime coyote
#

whereas some random chinese brand with no trace of existence on the entire internet are more likely to do something like that

plucky rapids
#

You do not buy a brand

#

You buy a product

lime coyote
#

you're just arguing over semantics here

#

same as "erm ACKSHYUALLY it's YOU'RE and not YOUR"

plucky rapids
#

No

lime coyote
#

i also didn't state that you would "buy a brand"

plucky rapids
#

Just stop using brand

#

Like 1st player do they make good psus

lime coyote
#

don't know that company so i wouldn't bet that they're of amazing quality

plucky rapids
#

Or abko

lime coyote
#

same

lime coyote
#

ok

plucky rapids
#

While others are f

lime coyote
#

ok

plucky rapids
#

Aka product not brand is what matters

lime coyote
#

indeed

#

but an overarching generalization that is usually right is that name brands are popular for a reason, that they make good power supplies

plucky rapids
#

No

lime coyote
#

if they make an absolute piece of shit and then recall it every once in a while, they're still a reliable brand

plucky rapids
#

Most do not recall

#

Like Corsair

lime coyote
#

if i buy a corsair power supply right now i can almost guarantee that it'll be totally fine for years past it's warranty, same with silverstone or other brands.

if i buy an "abko" or "1st player" power supply, no one knows who they are, i can google if their power supplies are good and if they're good then sure, buy them, but i won't know right as i hear the name of the company that it's most likely a good power supply

lime coyote
#

just google the model and if it's shit you don't buy it

plucky rapids
#

AKA why asked him what model it was

lime coyote
#

but if it's a corsair power supply from the last few years i can almost guarantee that it's good enough

plucky rapids
#

Vs

#

Cx

#

2023 cx is d tier

#

Well lower wattage ones

lime coyote
#

"first player power supplies are A tier"

#

that's an awful lot of E and F tier right there

plucky rapids
lime coyote
#

there's more E tier models there than A tier, i think i can comfortably say that they're a pretty shit manufacturer if a solid third of that is E or F tier

#

7 out of corsair's 51 listed models are D or E
